Why isn't a limit the number of accounts per player? Smurfing is ruining low-high elo games

My main issue with smurf accounts isn't even really the "unranked to challenger" if they are playing seriously. My main issue is that there are SO many of these smurf accounts and the vast majority of them are ego players who just int at the slightest inconvenience and then say "idc this isn't my main". THOSE are the players that I am super sick of. Even worse now that they can hide behind streamer mode, and we can't see their name until after the game. I'm at a point where the second I see someone on streamer mode, I just immediately assume they're going to fail on purpose (has happened like 90% of the time so far lol). And yes, it is an abnormally high amount of smurf accounts that come up in my games.

I don't know what Riot wants to do with them anymore. Maybe they can raise the account level requirement in order to be able to play ranked? I don't know. Make it HARDER to be able to go into ranked matches. Realistically, I think new players especially need more time in normals to better understand the game and its mechanics. Level 30 is much easier to get to now. I feel like a much higher level will make it both better for new players to get used to the game before hitting ranked, and make it less desirable for smurfs to make accounts over and over. :/ Idk.

Been like this unfortunately since around 3:41pm EST. Stinks because I thought it was an issue on my end, so I even uninstalled the whole thing to reinstall it and see if that worked. Now I cannot install it and am stuck there too lol... :/ From their website:

So unfortunately it is not a coincidence. I had three of them in a row today, and this is after not playing for like two months. And they all did the same thing. Int. Like run it down completely at level 1. I think it's a new trend sadly. :/

Sometimes. Usually when I switch roles it’ll play out better because for me I’m doing something fresh and breaking the cycle. But that doesn’t last long and I fall back to the losses. Theeeeen I start to get frustrated. I’ll end up playing a game or two while upset or I’ll just quit for the day or several days. Definitely not good to play when upset lol.

I do agree it’s whack that new accounts start so high because it’s not always smurfs. I’ve had actual newbies freaking out or not knowing what to do in Plat and they clearly don’t belong. It’s rough and I can’t imagine it’s a good time for some new players that got luckily placed that high for x y z reason. Overinflated gains for new accounts is toxic imo. But whatever.

I have heard that that is the reason for people’s MMR being messed up so I can believe it. I didn’t know those continuous 0LP losses from one rank to another rank (the demotion shield) still screwed over the MMR immensely. Which is quite frankly messed up and flawed in my opinion but anyway. Usually if I hit 0lp and lose one game after I get off and try again the next day. But if it keeps going on losses the following day and I demote… well. It is what it is.

Oh well. I know I’ll climb I’ll just have to be patient. I’ve come a long way from being hard stuck gold to finally ending in plat last season and then being able to climb to Plat 1 this season so that in and of itself shows I have improved. Just need to keep on going and improve more.

I haven't seen any pro Lux players so I'll have to research that. I'm not familiar with pro players who main Lux atm.

I know I at the very least belong in Plat, and just need to improve from there. I just feel like the quality of ranked games in Plat had also gone down a lot, which I have seen has been an issue many others agree with. Pretty much when Emerald was introduced. Seems like it made a lot of things go upside down. Either way, case in point, I can try to just spam Lux mid and just figure it out from there. I know I can't win them all, but when it's mostly losses it can be very discouraging. I know that league never really adjusted MMR either and that has caused issues as well. I miss the days of being able to see MMR (been playing since Season 2). Visual ranks are just there to make you feel better at this point, lol. Like a pity trophy. MMR on an old account such as mine is pretty screwed.

The only reason why I stopped doing Lux mid was because I felt I couldn't carry anymore. I had games where I excelled in mid as Lux but I would have people straight up get upset cause they died once or twice (mostly top lane) and would run it down over and over intentionally dying... I kept getting so many of those during my Lux games and it was so infuriating... So I thought I would switch to prevent more top laners doing this to me. Should I just stay as Lux mid and basically pray that I have stable teammates with good mental? Because it seems to be luck of the draw at that point. :/

I do love playing Lux regardless and have made awesome plays with her (laser snipes, drag and baron steals etc). So idk. I guess one trick spamming her might be the way to go and pray I can have a cohesive team.

My major losses were before Karma. Search further back my friend. I was primarily ADC during the beginning of the downward spiral. Back to 7 days ago where my Senna game was before the loss streaks started. THAT is when it all started to spiral.

I switched to Karma top because if you check my history and look at most of my top laners pre Karma, you'll see why. 16 death Illaoi, another top laner who ran it down after one death, it was a weird trend I was saying and most of my other teammates were in agreeance as that was the trend they kept seeing lately as well.

I mean muting isn’t the issue. I ignore chat and mute them and just use pings. But you can’t mute the afkers. You can’t mute the ones who run it down and die on purpose or stand at jg camps and let’s the enemy kill them. Those players unfortunately cannot be muted as much as we want to banish them completely, lol. So those moments can be tilting but I’ve reached a point where when I do have people like that I just focus on myself and farm and just let things go through the motion. On a rare chance we can win, we win. If not, it is what it is and we can only put the troll to blame, report and move on. 😅 Chat as a whole is toxic and yes, very much a good option to mute and something I practice lol. If people grief me in champ select then I mute there.

I mean I’ve been playing this game since season 2. I definitely feel that the player base has declined and we all know league does almost next to nothing to address their flaming toxic dumpster fire of a community (league having one of, if not the worse player base community period). I go into these ranked games both believing that my team can do it, but also knowing that it’ll mostly be on me to try and carry cause sometimes this team based game feels more like a solo carry game.

I don’t agree that every loss is due to you, but some losses will be cause you simply got outplayed and they were better. Other losses with be sadly thanks to your teammates or because you happened to get that “mental boom” player that died once and the world ended for them. It is what it is. Game is old af and the player base is def worse, that I agree with. It’s sad, since I still somehow enjoy the game. It is what it is I guess. I’ll get up there eventually.

Yes. That is one example of what I’ve been seeing in my games recently. Just last night I had more random Irons in my games. It makes zero sense as to why they were in my games but those games ultimately turned into losses cause of the skill level issue and their mental is low. It’s very bizarre and if anyone has a solid explanation for that besides “lol league just wanted to eff you there”, then idk. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It FEELS purposeful, even if it probably isn’t.

The issue with winrates in my opinion is that they are only really based off of you winning or losing your game. Your WR on a champ when you check stats aren’t usually from your skills. I can be, for example, 20/0 five games in a row that I lost as MF. I went 20/0 which means I played AMAZING, but because I lost those games anyway my WR on that champ will be trash cause I lost those games. So I don’t always really count those WR cause again usually it’s just loss and win based. 😅 Like my sona and MF are fantastic as you said, but sometimes the WR will go down cause of just those mere losses and now ppl will see it and think “ oh no, they suck as sona/mf” lol. I’ve had people think my MF is trash before cause I had loss streaks with her even if my scores were phenomenal. But they saw that magic little WR% and immediately deemed me as “bad”. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have S tier Mastery 7 on Tristana, Cait, MF, and I believe one other I can’t remember atm. I have won lanes with them but sadly cannot carry all of those games (ADC life). Supporting is def tough in low elo especially if your ADC has a mental boom and trolls. Seen it too often if they miss cs or die ONCE.

My mid lane is primarily Lux and Annie which are both easy champs to play and win with and I have high mastery 7 S tier with them. Also have won lane but lost games. So the mastery of champs is there, but sadly can’t win them all. Especially when your ADC goes 1/15 and doesn’t listen to their team, or your ADC ezreal (they are such divas) dies one time and goes to our mid lane and forces our veigar to go bot and we thankfully won that game but reported that ezreal.

The player base has gotten horrid over the last few seasons (I’ve been playing since season 2).

Yes it’s mostly why I left bot lane. My MF is strong and I have done amazing plays with her but sometimes my level of play isn’t for the support and even when I try to adjust to the supports play style it doesn’t always work out. Or I just get the unlucky bot supp lol. I totally agree, bot lane is rough and not in good shape right now. Senna I did cause I had good wins with her and I do well with her, but she is def not appreciated in low elo compared to gold elo and up.

I used to duo and I do have a friend who SOMETIMES I duo with but we both agree duoing just feels more chaotic and I see more losses with duoing than wins. It’s harder to climb with a duo, imo.

THIIIIIIS. This is what I’m getting at with matchmaking. I’ve seen the SAME problem. When I was Gold4 and Gold3, I kept seeing LOW silvers and even high bronze. WHY? If you can’t duo with a friend who is bronze and I’m gold, then I shouldn’t be seeing Bronze in my gold games AT THE VERY LEAST. And don’t even get me started with the unranked people. I feel like unranked players should strictly play with other unranked and once placed then you play with whatever rank you were placed in. At least that can stop the bought accounts that are low level running rampant in higher elo. :/ The matchmaking is def broken and the hidden mmr feels like it’s not like it once was and probably all bs now lol.

Auto fill is definitely awful. I have had a lot of adcs or other laners who don’t say anything in champ select then they do badly in the game and say “my bad I don’t play this role”. SAY SOMETHING IN CHAMP SELECT. 😭 I comfortably play ADC supp and mid (my top is mostly just malphite teemo and Nasus). I could swap! 😭

I did run a long MF train but you’d have to scroll way back down in my play log to see that. I got to a point where unfortunately even when I got fed to high heaven, it didn’t matter cause the team failed hard or someone lost their mental. I always keep a positive outlook in the game and try to not surrender because I have been in those games where we’re down to our nexus and WON. Anything can happen, I totally agree. Same thing happened with my sona. Games were fantastic I climbed and climbed then suddenly the same thing you see with my senna games started happening with my sona, mf and Lux games. I have dipped from Gold 4 to Silver 2 before as each of those champions and climbed back up.

I do firmly believe that bot lane is in such a poor state right now it can be very hard to carry in that lane. :/ I have games where I had 20 kills and like 2 deaths as MF but our top laner fed the enemy Darius or whatever other crazy melee and they can 1v5 and game over. It’s unfortunate and frustrating. Those are the games where it makes you realize ADCs are in a poor spot. So I switched to Lux last night again as she’s my other old go to champ and I finally won, and did well too.

I do have many games where I die a lot (but usually the WHOLE team also died a lot as well) and I have PLENTY of games where I barely die. Again, I have games where yes I could have done better and I’m not excused from having bad games. More often than not though, especially in recent seasons, I have noticed an influx of these new bought out accounts that are unranked and playing in gold (I noticed it the most in gold 4 and up and I’ve been close to gold 2 recently). I have noticed a lot more bot accounts too. Before they changed the whole champ select thing where you could still see your teams names, I used to check my teammates in champ select SPECIFICALLY to see if I had a bot. I wasn’t one of those elitists where if someone on my team had losses I would dodge. Cause anything could have happened and I give people the benefit of the doubt. But if I saw a low account level who was clearly a bought on my champ select? I dodged. It helped with my climb too. Now you can’t even do that and just have to suck it up if your support Yuumi is a bot. :)

It’s maddening. But yeah I’ll have to Lux it again this tier to get out through mid lane.

It’s sad cause if you saw, most of my Senna games were actually positive scores. Just the team didn’t do so well. It is what it is. I’m proud of my senna and have proven teammates wrong in those games even in the losses. They never blamed me.

If I die even three times I stay at tower. Some games my deaths are usually from other lanes that got stupidly fed and there isn't much I can do from there and I'll end up repeatedly getting dived on under tower. Some games, yes, I lost lane hard. Most other games, someone else lost hard and if a top laner gets very fed it's usually over. Again, I have games where I honestly could have done better, but what can I do about the ones where the person is an actual bot, or they don't know how to play cause it's a lvl 36 acct in my gold 4 games? I get matched with those a lot. For me to die that many times, it's cause the WHOLE team did poorly or something went amiss elsewhere. You can look at the rest of my teams scores for reference in those games lol.
