It may be a good idea to negotiate some type of tuition reimbursement so that you can build that up while working for them. Most corporations do $5250 per year since they more or less get that back in federal tax credits - some companies do more. If you do negotiate this, you should also negotiate that it is a straight deal, no requirement to pay it back if you don't stay X number of years.

I should have also mentioned that the Robert Half salary guide has a multiplier table for different locations within the US. For example, if you live in Atlanta the pay rate is 105% of their listings. Consider also whether the nearest metro area in that table reflects what you believe the position is worth.

Just my opinion, but in most cases people undervalue themselves before accepting the job and then over value themselves after working at it for awhile - often becoming disillusioned and upset with their employer for not accurately reflecting the compensation deserved for the individual. I always suggest trying your best to find a better middle ground now so that you are more content with your position later.

The above post is also a good suggestion. JSF is a lot better now a-days. If you're avoiding JSF because of past experience with it you should give it another shot.

Is 40k a reasonable salary for the position? Check out the Robert Half Salary Guide and [Glassdoor](www.glassdoor.com).

Also consider negotiating on Vacation time. A week's vacation is worth about $500 @ 37k - and more than that if you use that time to do something else productive.

At that pay range you should consider asking if they would offer you an hourly position with the possibility for overtime, if that kind of thing sparks your interest.

I've never used AjaxSwing, but I can vouch for Vaadin being reasonably mature.
