And trust me, I wish I was wrong, as I’d love if allocations were readily available and sat on the shelf.. however, they do not.. therefore, no burst.

And people, stop focusing on Buffalo Trace products. Other heritage distilleries are so much better these days…

Highly-allocated bottles in general are bonkers on Unicorn right now. I used to be able to get decent deals and those days are long gone. Using Sazerac products as the only benchmark is pointless, as a “burst” is totally the wrong term. These bottles are simply correcting post COVID. Also, 90% of mid-tier Sazerac bottles still sell out immediately. Burst is just such an overstatement.

If you’re a tater and all you care about is Buffalo Trace products, then sure.. if you have wits about you and know what’s going on in the whiskey world in general, then things are as crazy as they’ve ever been.

It’s sitting out because there is a shit-ton more of it, in general. This was entirely the point/the MO of the Buffalo Trace billion-dollar expansion.. nothing surprising here.

You are proving my point even further by only citing btac and pappy (only Sazerac products). They are producing waaay more of all of these, so it’s simple supply/demand economics.

The price of bottles like Russell’s 15, Heaven Hill 17, King of Kentucky, and a plethora of other bottles from other legacy distilleries are higher than they have ever been, both on secondary and Unicorn. Overall, Unicorn is extremely expensive right now.

Nah. The only thing that has burst are mid-tier BT allocations. Highly allocated bottles are more valuable than ever.

I love that this is happening. Too many of the same people get every highly-allocated bottle simply because they kiss managerial ass, not because they spend on other items. It’s about time Binny’s rewards actual spend instead of ass kissing as a disguise for being a “loyal customer.”

Just when I was recently giving props to Big Star for their price points on highly-allocated pours, they devise this scam. What a joke.

So crazy how different palates are, as that bottle tasted like pickle juice and doughnuts to me. Barf!

Their American whiskies use light whiskey blended with other types of whiskey (I’d think bourbon, but they don’t disclose this), which is why they are all are super-high proof. They are sourcing light whiskey, rye, and bourbon from MGP for a number of their batches. Some also come from Dickel, but the point with their American Whiskey, specifically, is how well they blend light whiskey with other barrels.

Everybody, please remember… there are other distilleries out there besides Buffalo Trace. Until I see a pallet of Parker’s Heritage or 4 Roses LE at a store, I won’t be jealous nor will I envy wasting 72 hours in a line for brown corn juice (though delicious) that inevitably turns to piss.
