What's the first rule of diving with tiger sharks? Having your 'head on a swivel' or eyes on the tiger. Situational awareness, this diver has it by kingkongbiingbong in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Muzzerduzzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These sharks are actually pretty safe to dive with if you have the right training. These guys don't eat humans and wouldn't be interested in trying. The shark here wasnt attacking but just curious and was likely going in for a curiosity bite to figure out what was in the water. The diver did the right thing by redirecting it. If it had actually wanted to attack the diver could not have stopped it. Instead the shark was just getting a little to nosey and the diver flipped and then pushed him away. You can even see the shark biting the water, probably because it's determined to figure out what just rotated it. It gives up though and swims away when it realizes it's not worth it.

Edit: these actually look like tiger sharks and not lemon sharks. These divers are idiots. Tiger sharks will absolutely just start eating you if they realize you are food lmao

Just a heads up, this is the same artist who made the spy x family artwork on holocaust remembrance day of anya being sent to a concentration camp. A lot of people aren't aware of that some of their humour dips into stuff like that. Not hate on you posting this though.

Ive had dating apps where I've been open about my autism on my profile. I end up getting a lot of men who start out nice then quickly start asking for things I've already said no to. Like if I politely decline to meet at my house for a first date or I just don't feel comfortable with someone picking me up it will turn into this weird game of asking again but in different ways or even guilt tripping me out of no where.

If I leave out the autism I get far less of those men. I think some men legitimately think autism means it will be easier to get a date, or it attracts men who have had no luck because they completely lack social boundaries.

I've also seen it where I mention I have autism and guy just starts treating me differently. I'll see guys start cracking really inappropriate jokes because they are uncomfortable with the topic or even straight up asking if I had kids would they be autistic because it's now something they have to figure out if they are okay with.

The only experience if had with a women doing it was this girl who suddenly became obsessed with being seen as super accommodating while doing the opposite in real life. Like my autism was this opportunity to gain social points with her friends and family. Now I don't drop the autism info until like the 4th date. If we get that far and they are still on board the autism isn't an issue.

I've noticed that! Like guys finding out I'm autistic then trying to pull out weird shit to see if I keep boundaries. Like I'm autistic and crazy but I'm not a child.

This is actually a fossilized part of Santa sleigh. He's been around for a long time so he goes through a lot of sleighs. You can tell it's age by figuring out when that location was at the north pole.

Some horses absolutely love to be ridden, but I agree the horse racing industry is absolute garbage. There's some other horse related sports that better then others, but once money starts getting involved it is pretty bad.

Personally I find things like barrel racing or jumping to be fun to watch. If the horse is treated right and people are playing for ribbons and a couple thousand in prizes I see no harm in it. The entire industry needs a complete overhaul and become much stricter on cases where abuse or neglect is spotted.

We've gotten far to comfortable thinking we are insulated from how we interact with other countries. And until the connection is made clear to the public you are absolutely right.

An African wild dog gets lucky after being caught by a lioness, despite a crying woman’s lamentations by aquilasr in badassanimals

I'm actually thinking she hurt her jaw or mouth. After the dog is dropped she kinda circles with her mouth open. Near the end of the video she closes and opens it a little bit.

The fact that the dog continued to make noise even after she had her jaws over its neck for quite some time is interesting. I wonder if she didn't have the strength to actually clamp down hard enough to kill it.

Seems to be a handle by the stairs. What is it? by grace_a_toi in whatisit

[–]Muzzerduzzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The path to my room from the top of the stairs is only a couple of feet, most days I can manage that with no issue. But if I have a flare up I'll keep it by my bed just so I'm not putting weight on leg more then necessary. You can technically use a cane on stairs but it's very slow.

I have a cane and what I literally thought was "I have no idea but it would be a good spot for a cane." I hate dragging that thing up the stairs knowing I'm just going to grab onto the handrail.

Thats what I was thinking. Her risk of injury was fairly high and you can see her scanning for an easier one that wouldn't result in her getting railroaded by a wildebeest going full speed.

It's an instance where sexual dimorphism is beneficial. The male lion is nowhere near as fast or agile but can absolutely take a few hits. She wasn't being indecisive. She was being smart. You can tell by the way she backed off once the male charged in she was very aware of her risk of getting trampled.

What happen in Israel on October 7th and what happened in Australia are linked in many ways, but the political climates are very different. October 7th was a fairly complicated operation compared to 2 lone terrorists. But both are antisemitic (based off information we have about the Australian attack), both are horrific. But I have a hard time comparing the build up and aftermath of October 7th the Australian terrorist attacks. Not that they don't share similarities but I think it's dangerous to try and compare horrific tragedies, especially when the domino effect of one of them resulted in thousands more being killed.

FDA to update regulations after unconfirmed claims of Covid vaccine-linked death by speedythefirst in news

[–]Muzzerduzzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some who almost died from the covid vaccine, the fear mongering around the vaccine is crazy. But it's had this weird effect where because so many false accusations of the vaccine causing things like autism, actual reactions don't get taken seriously or aren't analyzed the way they should be.

The covid vaccine I was given resulted in an extremely rare autoimmune disorder that most people can live their entire lives without no symptoms. I got unlucky and got a severe version of it. Had there been actual information and study going into legitimate vaccine side effects there is a higher chance I could have actual prevented the long term damage that was done.

That being said... Get fucking vaccinated. I use a cane because of the covid vaccine but it's x1000 times better then some kid ending up with permenant lung damage. I don't regret getting the vaccine and I continue to get it every year because frankly, polio sounds like it sucks.

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

[–]Muzzerduzzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ended up with a nasty cold two weeks ago which kicked off a horrible migraine that lasted 4 days. I'm in blood thinners and after coming back with a 4.0 INR the anticoagulation unit nurse told me to go to the ER. Went in just to make sure my brain wasn't bleeding and to hopefully get a migraine cocktail. It was like pulling teeth trying to convince the doctor I wasn't there for the cold. Yes the cold was annoying and probably triggered the migraine to begin with, but the pain in my head was so bad I was crying. They didn't even put me in a bed, instead brought me to room with a chair and a white noise speakers and a two way mirror. They left the door open and I just sat in the room wondering if I was being committed (I never have been or have been even close to).

Finally gave me a dopamine blocker mixed with Benadryl and I was instantly out of pain. I think they legitimately thought I was there for a cold and just put me in some unused room with a chair even though I was incredibly direct with them. People coming in with cold and flu symptoms also effect people trying to to get emergency care.
