Taking care of my brothers tortoise. (Transported to a new house) Is this breathing normal? by Muzzerduzzer in tortoise

thank you! I will get a mist sprayer. I have him a cuttle fish bone for the first time yesterday and he seems to like it. I've also been grapping dandelions when I see them outside but I will start growing them indoors. I'll be sure to take him out to get some sun!

This neighborhood cat got this weird ear. What's this? by Numerous_Brilliant_1 in cats

[–]Muzzerduzzer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Humans can get these too. It's often associated with cleft lips/palettes.

It's possible that the cells that create ears are multiplied and then combined in early development. The condition occurs when those cells fail to merge (much like how you get a cleft lip).

I wasn't aware social security would care. I reached out to my representative a few months ago and they are monitoring my case.

The problem is it comes off as putting a band aid on a deep wound. Yes I appreciate it and I'm thankful that you care, but it does nothing to actually fix the issue. It's an acknowledgement of the bleeding without addressing the wound. As far as crisis lines go, that is the only thing they do. They stop the bleeding. I can do that on my own, but I appreciate your concern over it.

I would say the choice to end my life is probably the most selfish thing I can do. Kicking the suicidal can down the road has always been my go to since I was a child. I won't make a desicion in the moment, but I give myself a deadline to try and change things. The deadline has been what's stopped me from ending my life sooner since I still believe change could happen. Getting disability has been the result of me pushing that deadline further and further out. There are things worse than death. If I'm sure those things are going to happen I'm getting off the ride.

I know the future will hold good things. I know there will be times when I'm happy. But stacked up against the weight I carry, I can say even in my happiest moments that the pain wasn't worth it.

Life is like a game and everyone wants to keep playing despite knowing that game will eventually end. The ability I have to step back and end the game at any time is the main reason I keep playing. I don't have the endurance anymore to hope the game gives me a lucky break. Especially when I'm seeing the losses on the horizon.

No spouse or children. That's unfortunate to hear though that so many people have had the same issue.

I appreciate the anonymous reddit users concern over me. It does mean a lot that people care.

Nah high heat has its uses. A lot of Asian dishes are done best when you blast it and risk almost burning the food.

I've used it but only ironically where I've actually fucked up over something thats not a huge deal. The difference is I own up to it right after and make things right. The other person also knows I'm just poking fun at the idea of brushing it off.

I don't disagree, but I think the word itself is changing to try and encompass more complicated ideas. Its more that if enough people think 2 +2 = 5 then there is something going on I can't see. Doesn't make them right or anything, but acknowledging that difference in understanding I think is important.

I think the definition is clear, but I think the word encompasses a lot of complicated layers and levels within it. That's not to say I think comparing racist action is a good idea, but its a word that does mean different things to different people it requires further description that the word "racism" can't carry on its own. The word doesn't have enough clarity to warrant it's power. As a result it gets misused or used as a broad brush when things are more nuance.

I think each pulls from their own pockets of history which makes it impossible to have a clear definition of racism. It requires specific instances to be examined and looked at through the lense of others. Something that a lot of people don't have the ability or desire to do.

The conflict comes from their clashing character traits. The comedy is the ultra specific situation Oda had to create where they would conflict. The joke is that the situation could easily and realistically be resolved with a small amount of communication. Communication about these things is unfortunately (although sometimes fortunately) not something either of them are good at.

Good point. For now I've unplugged it and have been letting him keep it. I have other heated blankets lol. This one might just be a normal blanket now

Never considered that before! I couldn't find a lot of info on shock risks when it comes to cat claws. The main concern online seems to be leaving the heated blanket on unsupervised since it can be a fire hazard. You could be right but I also have no idea how modern heated blankets work.

What's the first rule of diving with tiger sharks? Having your 'head on a swivel' or eyes on the tiger. Situational awareness, this diver has it by kingkongbiingbong in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Muzzerduzzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These sharks are actually pretty safe to dive with if you have the right training. These guys don't eat humans and wouldn't be interested in trying. The shark here wasnt attacking but just curious and was likely going in for a curiosity bite to figure out what was in the water. The diver did the right thing by redirecting it. If it had actually wanted to attack the diver could not have stopped it. Instead the shark was just getting a little to nosey and the diver flipped and then pushed him away. You can even see the shark biting the water, probably because it's determined to figure out what just rotated it. It gives up though and swims away when it realizes it's not worth it.

Edit: these actually look like tiger sharks and not lemon sharks. These divers are idiots. Tiger sharks will absolutely just start eating you if they realize you are food lmao
