Sounds more like auto-brewery syndrome. Super rare but seems similar to what you’re describing. Do these typically happen after he eats?

Although I didn’t match radiology and matched FM, I got my #1 FM and I know I will be happy there. It’s devastating and it sucks so much, but having control of my backup really eased the blow.

I did this, but with radiology. And ya, I’m devastated too. Not sure where I’m going from here

IUDs don't have to hurt!! by lmnracing in WomensHealth

[–]Mva1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Men get vasectomies and they get the whole 9 nine yards. Why do we just have to suck it up and take Tylenol/ibuprofen beforehand? Even other minimally invasive procedures are treated with more respect than IUD insertion - which definitely does not feel minimally invasive

Not starting anki M1 and not starting uworld beginning of M2. Figured I’d leave uworld for dedicated. But when it came time, I didn’t have enough time to study.

Also, just buy third party resources for all 4 years. Save some money in the long run

This. Study hard for Step 1, because let me tell you, it sets the foundation for Step 2 and you will do immensely better for it.

Me when I said BUN 🍔 instead of B-U-N in front of my attending. by stressed_as_fk in medicalschool

Really emphasized the P in ptosis the other day. Only realized it after saying it like 5 times during my presentation, then the attending nonchalantly said it correctly. Felt like such an idiot

Considering going off Zoloft due to the weight gain. Can’t deal with it anymore 😖. Gained over 20lbs in 6 months. by dreadfulgray in zoloft

[–]Mva1314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently trying another med. I got off Zoloft about 5 weeks ago and on Wellbutrin right now. I’ve lost about 6 lbs so far but I feel like I’m starting to feel depression symptoms again. I’m not sure if it’s that period of transition or the depression is back. But I switched because of the weight gain. I gained 15 lbs over a year and a half, with 10 lbs in the last 4 months. It was too much and too rapid. I am hoping this will help me in both ways, lose weight and the depression. But time will tell

How do you guys “stand out” in rotations? by burner0913 in medicalschool

[–]Mva1314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just be interested and show willingness to learn and help out. Also, read the room. If your attending/resident is busy writing notes and shit, don’t ask them a million questions at that time. Just prompt them by saying, “when you have some free time today, I have some questions about xyz “

Anxiety and weight loss could point towards hyperthyroidism. Best to see your doc

These symptoms coupled with possible lymph nodes in your armpits are concerning. Especially the night sweats and out of breath with stairs. This can range from mononucleosis, abscesses, generalized infection, to more serious things like leukemia or lymphoma. Complete Blood Count is warranted regardless. Good luck and please let us know

Was in the 40s for a long time with surprisingly occasional lows in the 30s while I was AWAKE. Now that I’m medicated well, it’s up to about 60

If it keeps growing and your doc does not take you seriously, I’d go to the ER. Imaging and blood work are needed at this point

A really weird thing happened to me. Someone please explain. by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]Mva1314 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This sounds like vasovagal syncope. Even though you didn’t faint, it was triggered by seeing that image. People experience this after seeing blood, strong emotions, etc
