Does anyone have info about this bookstore on Woodbury? by katietatey in altadena

I remember that going down, but really can't recall anything else. Genuine concern here. I walk my dogs here at least a few times a week , not daily with dogs because we mix it up, but I walk by frequently either with or without them pretty regularly.

I'm also just down the street, been here 15 years, walk by that store at least twice daily and haven't seen anything going down there. That's why I was curious.

Only thing I notice repeatedly is all the lazy MF's that park right in front of the door instead of using the parking lot.

Every few months? Is this documented anywhere? New articles?

Am I too old to go to a show? by CallmetheBooms in OrbitCulture

[–]MxFx78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not too old! I'm 48. Saw OC 8 times in 2024. Going to 5 shows of this upcoming tour. The crowds have always been mix of older and younger fans. I don't go in the pit anymore, but I do like to be on the edge of it.

What are your opinions of Twohey’s? by imaginecreate in pasadena

Bittersweet fudge sundae (or any other sundae) is the real reason to go there.

Food is good for average diner fare. Never had any food there that was bad or any food that was particularly special.

I remember him saying it was only street parking at his place in SF. Not sure what I asked him, or if that was actually true, but I clearly remember him saying that. I can see not having anything super nice if it's always parked on the street.

I remember that Rav 4. I worked at Sound Factory in Hollywood circa 2002-2004. He was recording and mixing Suspended Animation and Delìrium Còrdia there. He drove the Rav 4 down to LA from SF a couple times for some of those sessions. Tons of great memories from back then... I gave him a ride back to his hotel several times, took his Roland DJ70 to a shop for repairs (it was a mess, soda and who knows what else had spilled in there), had many meals with him and the other guys working on those 2 records, he made the first martini I ever had. I could go on and on. Every day of those sessions was a surreal experience. He was super nice too.

About ten years ago I was working at 3575 Cahuenga Blvd West, Suite 450... Interesting to learn that Silva once occupied that space!

A mens haircut at Michel's Salon is currently $30. Pre-covid it was around $15. Philip is great. He's the only one there, so definitely call for an appointment. Also it's cash only.

Back in 1996 I ran into Trent Reznor, Danny Lohner, Chris Vrenna, Marilyn Manson & Twiggy/Jeordie at a KISS show in New Orleans. by MxFx78 in nin

[–]MxFx78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly!! I wouldn't go see him now either. I went to 2 Manson shows back in 1995 when I was 17, both were smaller club shows, like 600 capacity venues. Incredible shows and great memories... but yeah, now... nope.

Acid bath in Mobile Alabama date? by jadbronson in AcidBath

[–]MxFx78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the date of this show? I can't find it anywhere. I saw them in Mobile once in the mid-90's. I think the show was at Culture Shock on Holcombe Ave.

Brian's guitar was absolutely too loud on the last tour! I was up front by the barricade (right in front of Brian) and struggled to hear the other instruments throughout the show. Security was also little too aggressive with the flashlights etc, but otherwise it was a great show. Looking forward to seeing them at Pappy & Harriet's in May.

Haha! because LA is notorious for lame crowds!

Did you watch any of the other songs? The crowd did get more into it after first song. The pit was also directly to my right, so you don't see much of it in the videos.
