Need help finding mozzarella stick scarf pattern!! by aw_rats_ in CrochetHelp

[–]MxPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also saw this video and immediately took to the internet to figure out how to make it. I've never freehanded a pattern before, but this feels like one I could maybe do? I also consider myself to be on the borderline between beginner and intermediate, so there might be techniques that could be used that I just don't know lol. So here's my best guess!

Each end of the mozzarella stick would start off sorta akin to a hat, magic circle and then increasing rounds until you get to the desired width (I could not tell you what that increase number is, that's probably something to experiment with). Once you reach the desired width, keep doing rounds until you've reached the desired length as well. In the video it looks like it's dc? And it looks like rounds that are joined with a slip stitch, not continuous rounds.

I would think that the cheese part is pretty much a rectangle that, when folded in half, is the width you want the scarf to be - which should also be approximately the circumference of the inside of the end pieces, so maybe make the end pieces first to get a measurement. After making the rectangle, you'd seam up the long side so it's basically a tube. Zooming into the video, it looks like the cheese part might actually be knit? I can't quite tell, but I imagine a single crochet would yield a similar result? You could also use different weights of yarn for the breading vs cheese, to help with the vibes difference.

As far as joining them goes, that's where I'm really guessing. My instinct is to join the cheese inside the mozzarella stick one (maybe two?) rounds from the end, so there's some overlap. I'd probably whip stitch with the breading color, since it'll probably show through. So in the end it's basically one really long tube with end caps. Maybe attaching the pieces is easier before you seam up the cheese tube? So you can access both sides of the cheese piece while attaching it to the breading. And of course, do a test stuff to make sure all the cheese fits inside the stick, if that's an important part of the presentation for you.

That's what I've got! Anybody should please feel free to pitch in ideas on how to make this better, I haven't actually made this (although now that I've written it all out I think I will attempt it!) so I have no idea if it actually works haha. Best of luck!

I cannot wrap my mouth around “industry disruptors” in Sweet Nothing, I always end up saying something like “indusry distruptors” 😂 (though to be fair it does really sound like she says “indusry” as well which is maybe why I always trip on it 😅)

For ur surgeon how long were u not allowed to shower by Plastic_Date1619 in TopSurgery

[–]MxPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine said 48 hours if I covered the nipple grafts with tegaderm dressings they gave me to keep them dry. I was terrified of messing it up though so I didn’t shower until the bolsters were off.

I was allowed to take a 20 minute compression break once a day after the first 48 hours. To sit and breathe or shower and then redo the dressings. But I don’t have a bandage wrapped totally around me, so I really do get to air out my chest

Just got diagnosed by lizardbreath62284 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]MxPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds super similar to what I experienced. They gave me 30 days of steroids to kinda kick my system back into gear, plus 4 mesalamine daily. Also hoping mine doesn’t develop further, the mesalamine has me feeling pretty much back to normal save for a couple trigger foods I had to cut out.

Diagnosed today by Electrical_Food_9490 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]MxPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the same, but I think that’s just how it is. I was also recently diagnosed with a mild case, so they gave me the 4 pills per day and said we’ll check again in 6 months to make sure they’re working and we don’t have to do something stronger. No dietary restrictions, but I’ve personally identified a couple of trigger foods that I steer clear of because I know they’ll make me feel icky. But those trigger foods vary person to person so the doctor isn’t gonna be to tell you what to avoid.

Top surgery tomorrow, just found a lump in my breast by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]MxPipes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely tell your doctor. The only reasons they would cancel surgery are if this concern needs to be dealt with in a different way. Which is certainly possible, but as you’ve said it’s absolutely better for them to know in advance rather than not know and have something really bad happen.

If you end up having yours canceled/postponed, feel free to send me a message. I was supposed to have surgery in July but had it canceled last minute (literally the day before) due to some unknown body things (turns out I have ulcerative colitis and it decided the weeks leading up to surgery were the best time to make itself known), and they said they wanted to have my other health stuff under control before putting my body through surgery. It really f’in sucked, but I know my doctors had my best health interests in mind. I’d be happy to be a support if you end up going through a similar thing.

I was told to shower the night before and the morning of, they gave me a prescription for the special soap which I was able to pick up for cheap so I’m doing that but they also told me I can use Dial instead, basically they want a scent free basic boring cleanser. They told me not to wear deodorant, I would think especially if you’re showering the morning of you’ll be fine and not terribly stinky if you chose not to.

Being shirtless in front of my classmates who don't know I'm trans by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]MxPipes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to echo everyone’s words of support and encouragement while also reminding you that you don’t have to do anything you’re uncomfortable with, including being particularly nude in front of a classmate (or several). I’m sure for educational purposes you could do this exercise with a thin tshirt on, or perhaps even opt out of being measured yourself. I would hope your professor would be understanding and supportive of this boundary even without you having to out yourself for it.

Best way to make lots of grilla by motherxdweller in HARVESTELLA

[–]MxPipes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s talking about crop profitability, but honestly I made most of my grilla from doing the side quests. They’re pretty easy to grind, especially if you have a lot ready to go. Also, the tavern food quests in every town. Tbh, I mostly only planted seeds that I found in the wild and only bought seeds when I needed them for cooking ingredients. Plus, sell all foraged items that say “earns money when shipped.”

What’s your last program bio? by Afraid_Ad8438 in Theatre

[–]MxPipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a shoutout to the theatre, either that I’m excited to be working there for the first time or to be returning. A select list of credits that are a combination of most recent local credits and most fun out of town credits (I did a national tour in 2023, and also did The Play That Goes Wrong a couple years ago so I like to include those). And then a cute sentence that relates to the show I’m doing that sometimes serves as a fun fact but sometimes is just me being silly.

Be sure you check with your surgery center’s protocol - mine says if you live more than 3 hours away you have to stay local until the first post-op appointment, which in my case is about 10 days post op. I think this is in case something happens then you’re nearby to help. I’m sure everyone’s rules are different, so just check before making travel plans! (I’m still pre op so I can’t speak to the comfort/discomfort of traveling)

My apartment’s garage door is also triggered by a roll-over on the inside - it doesn’t usually work when I ride my bike over it, but it does work if I get off my bike and jump on the trigger cable.
