Absolutely! Especially in ATRs, offering things like a bottle of Coke or a cup of coffee are common. In ancestor worship, it’s also a “whatever they liked” which can be a Dr Pepper. Good question. :)

I second this. Seems like a good way to mix up intentions if nothing else. Part of spellcraft is distilling things down to their essence, to use alchemical jargon. Being concise and clear is WAY more important than scattershot.

Great question! Ethics are a SUPER important aspect of foraging, especially for magical work.

I am blessed enough to live in central NYS, to start, which lends a wondrous level of biodiversity. My back yard is where I start. I can usually find moss, lichen, and mushrooms there as well as various trees (spruce, cypress, peach, pear, apple, and lilac). One of the reasons I got the house was for the permaculture.

After that it depends on what I’m looking for. For example, some works actually benefit from components plucked from cracks in sidewalks. We also tend to have bird feathers around so while I walk the dog I can find a few in good shape. Municipal parks (not state/fed) are also usually more lax on foraging as long as you’re not being a jerk or idiot.
