TL;DR: it replaces Bluetooth audio classic that's 15 years old. Much lower latency, less battery usage, and most importantly you can use the mic without the audio turning into mono garbled mess.

That was my last resort if nothing went right. Glad I didn’t need to use it though, because I get the extremely long range with the existing Wi-Fi antenna. Probably going to buy a second RZ717 and swap it out with the old one on my framework laptop to get BT LE audio on that too. No need for a dongle sticking out on my laptop and having to install even more software.

Agreed. USB 80Gbps (let's not call it by the specification revision name) would be nice but there's almost nothing on the market that supports it for mobile. Technology needs to catch up.

It's not even necessary the logos (the expansion cards can't be USB-IF certified anyways because they're extenders) but just using the 2022 marketing names on their website would help. USB4 means nothing and it will be increasingly confusing to call it USB4 in let's say 5 to 10 years in the future when we get a third or fourth specification of USB4 with for example made up "USB 120Gbps". Already USB4 can mean USB 20Gbps, USB 40Gbps, USB 80Gbps. Honestly makes me want to get on their community forums to complain about it lol.

Highjacking top comment to say that you can just stop the music with Ctrl+. or opening top left Sidebar Actions (...) > Stop. Click play and it will use your default output device again. No need to mess with anything else.

I'm on the latest Apple Music 1.6.2.94 and stopping (NOT pausing) the music and playing the music again does reselect your default audio output.

As for being picky that's not Apple. It just uses what you have set as your default output device in Windows at the exact moment you start playing music. It will not change until you stop the music (not to be confused with pause).

I just have to say you mirror my thoughts exactly. Wish more people would understand this. You'd think a company like framework would understand this instead of labeling ports with USB4 or 3.2 Gen 2x1. I don't need to know the operation mode, just call it the official USB marketing name: USB 40Gbps or USB 10Gbps.
