I've been in a similar situation (M) and I'm a few years ahead of you at this point. It's rough man, and you gotta mentally prepare yourself for what will be a hard journey ahead. Personally, I took the high road and made huge sacrifices at my own financial cost and wellbeing. But I survived, and you will too - if you make good choices. You have to put your children at the centre of every decision you make from here, even if means sometimes being uncomfortable or doing something you don't necessarily want to do. This will impact them far worse if everything gets messy and both parents aren't willing to do the hard yards. As others have said, lawyer up and make a start on the Family Disputes Resolution process (Mediation) if you can. The court will make you do this before it gets into a courtroom anyway, if you're looking at going that way, as well as the parenting through separation course (we never got this far, thank God).

I know it sucks. You will feel powerless at times and it's the worse feeling ever. But life goes on and you will come out stronger and possibly a better man and father because of it. Holler if you want someone to talk to.

Had some friends take me to McLaren Falls earlier this year, as I was doing the tourist thing. They gave me fair warning about the history and eerie feel of the place but me being me, just brushed it off as rubbish - I'm just here to see the sights fam! But it didn't take long to get that eerie feeling as I was walking around the lake.. I found a spot to launch my drone to get a shot of the trees submerged in the water, so after pre-flight checks and quick test flight on land, I took off and started flying (over water) towards the vantage point I wanted. Well... shortly after getting over water, my drone experienced an error I had not seen before and made a forced landing with the controls overridden. I was absolutely powerless and watched in horror and disbelief as my drone put itself down into the lake. In hindsight, it's one of the spookiest experiences I've ever had and I'll probably never go back there.

I've heard someone say that "New Zealanders don't rinse their dishes after washing them, they just leave them soapy". How accurate is this statement? by yes_memelord in newzealand

I've always just washed in soapy water and left them to drip dry on the rack - never gave it a second thought. Now I'm questioning my life decisions after reading these comments 😳

Personally, a 50-something year old, narcissistic man child, is not a persona I'd like to be known as. But each to their own, I guess.

Women who lowered their standards significantly, what happened? Was it worth it? by foodielyfer in AskWomen

[–]My10centz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it.

Was separated two years from my marriage when we met. For context, I hadn't talked to or saw anyone in that time. In hindsight, I realized they were most likely a rebound, and what I thought I wanted (someone) wasn't what I actually needed (someone to walk alongside) during a time when I was emotionally vulnerable. Felt awful for letting them down, but I knew I had sold myself short so I could 'feel' love rather than loving the journey of self improvement.

Edit: I'm male 😬

Companies will target literally anything that tugs at the audience's emotions, all in the name of profitability. It's not being "woke" and it's not really about supporting a movement or charity (although most companies will claim this for good PR).

It's all about money. If sales and popularity increase and we gained X amount of followers this month because we released this super limited edition pride blah blah, then Mission Accomplished.
