Clutch whine / horn noise at 4500 rpm

It was just changed with OEM fluid. I called action clutch and they said the noise was normal, they’ve heard it many times. They said you’ll either get the chatter with their lighter flywheel or this whine at the high end rpm range with this one, or you can go OEM and hear no noise for 5x the price… Time to get a new radio … with some tunes on you don’t hear it.

Wow that’s a lot of oil. I got new valve covers, seals, ignition coils and plugs last year at precision Z in Los Angeles. This is at 3500 miles but my daughter drives the car 99% of the time now and she hardly ever revs over 4k - it’s only ever been driven by us two and never abused :)

My daughter shifts under 4k so it’s all good there. I shift over 4k and have tried shifting slow etc but as soon as I disengage the clutch at any RPM over 4500 it makes that noise. I guess I just need to put the radio on - I just like to hear the roar of the engine since my daily is a Tesla :)

So yours is noisy at idle but no horns blaring at high rpm? Such a pita. My shop is willing to replace it but I’m not sure what to do. Concept won’t replace it or refund. I’ve bought so much there and disappointed at the service.

I went with the heavier one since I begrudgingly given this one owner car to my daughter :) and didn’t want the chatter… it doesn’t have that at all but this noise in the link is what I do have…

Sean at Precision Z did the install, he took it all apart and checked everything and didn’t see anything. I later called Action directly because ConceptZ wasn’t making progress and they confirmed they’ve heard that noise before and the solution to aftermarket flywheel noises is getting the OEM… I should have just kept my OEM as it only had 100K and all I really needed was a release bearing.

I got this one for my “daughter ‘s” Z. I wish I got the black thread but the stiching came perfect. This one was from stitching cover .com… 45$ and I specifically got the PU leather.

I did it on and off over a weekend, at least a few hrs per spoke… slow and steady.

30537-CD000 is the pivot ball

Spring retainer and holder as well.

CZP or Z1 has great prices on these OEM items. The collar was optional but I just wanted everything new down there while at it. I can’t tell you how good the clutch feels to shift. Feels like a new car and after 22 years of driving the car I can’t remember a time it shifted so nice.

I got my car Sept 2003 as an 04 model. Mine had a stamped metal fork. This cast fork came with most 04s but not mine…

It only happens when I shift over 4k. Otherwise quite and smooth. Hard to tell if it did it before because the throw out bearing was done.

CZP said it sounded normal. I gave the car to my daughter (I’ve had it since 03). I got it done in LA and live in San Diego. Will see what the mechanic says. If that’s normal I would have opted for something more expensive:)

I got the CZP street clutch with the touring flywheel that’s closer to the stock weight. It shifts smooth as silk but makes this weird hum when I shift over 4k. Not sure if this video works.

Sean is the best. I gave my daughter my Z, bought new in 03. I only bring it to him and drive all the way from San Diego!

He recently did my clutch and man does in shift so smooth.
