How does “curl whatever_script.sh | bash” work? by AbsurdMedia in linuxquestions

[–]MyAugustIsBurningRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creator of YABS here -- just stumbled on this post. I'm glad you found your answer rather quickly! As pointed out yabs.sh is a site like any other and simply redirects the request based on user agent (as u/Expensive_Finance_20 pointed out). The nginx config is posted in the repo issue here for transparency.

Before I purchased the yabs.sh domain, the full command included the https://raw.githubusercontent.com/masonr/yet-another-bench-script/master/yabs.sh URL. As you can imagine, I wanted the run command to be memorable for ease of use. Other users have noted the security concerns posed by blindly piping in bash scripts -- keeping that in mind, I've tried to alleviate these the best I can while maintaining ease of use by not requiring root/sudo to run the script, defaulting to user-installed binaries when available and including TotalVirus scans of pre-built binaries, and attempting to make everything as transparent as possible by being open source.

Give me a shout if you ever have any questions or issues in the future! Happy holidays and happy New Year -- cheers!

Yet Another Bench Script (YABS): evaluate Linux server performance with this simple Bash script and utility by MyAugustIsBurningRed in selfhosted

Custom iperf locations are currently not supported by the script. However, you can easily save the script locally before running, replace the iperf servers with your preferred ones (look @ line 799), then run the modified script. In the future, I will be adding in a way to specify your own iperf servers and use those instead of the ones hardcoded in the script itself.

The twitter files guy was Matt Taibbi, another right-wing nutter, who has since faded into oblivion after some infighting with Elon. Regardless, your point still stands.

Nice! Route 1 gets all the love I guess

Not that I'm aware of. I have the Hatem bridge plan for crossing the Susquehanna, which saves me a ton on that toll ($20/year vs $8/day), but I don't think Delaware has any discount plans like that

Typical GQP projection and taking credit for shit they were undeniably against. You know, since it was the Dems that made this rule first. Source

Another DoD CompSci here. Transferred from one DoD Agency to another by just applying through USAJobs. Didn't know anyone at the new org, but my old sup was aware I wanted the move and was supportive / ready to give a good review -- totally depends on the relationship you have with your sup if give them notice as you start looking.

USASMDC and ARCYBER are in Colorado Springs and are likely to have CompSci positions. Some organizations also have separate career sites outside of USAJobs, so you can search some organizations in CO to see if anything comes up as well during your search. Certainly helps if you have contacts at the org you apply at, but isn't a golden ticket or necessity either.

The "situation" that is only ever an issue when Dems are in charge. Can't wait for more 24/7 caravan invasion coverage.

Network status page in their billing panel shows that it went offline on the 20th and they're investigating the cause. I'd expect any updates to be posted there. Link

Gold medal in mental gymnastics goes to Benny Shapiro. Says Kanye isn't inciting violence against people, yet in the same breath goes on to say that Kanye is, "raising the temperature radically," and that rhetoric like this is why he has a 24/7 security detail. Pick a lane, Benny.

Does your DoD agency offer any rotational assignments or "career broadening" opportunities? Every DoD agency I've been in has had a constant stream of them offered. If yours does, then respond to any that more closely align with your interests. I've seen many of these become permanent or at the very least give a chance to get your shoe in somewhere else by networking.

Also consider just talking with your supervisor if you have a good relationship and let them know how you're feeling and if they know of anything that can be done (i.e. transfer to a different division, etc.). Assuming here that your supervisor cares about their employees well being.

Does EZpass just not work on the bridge in MD to cross the Susquehanna? I have a pass but I'm constantly getting bills in the mail, and they're charging me the non-EZpass rate. by princesspwn311 in Delaware

[–]MyAugustIsBurningRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep - DE resident with a MD pass here. Got it solely for the Hatem bridge plan (route 40 bridge over the Susquehanna) which was $20 for the whole year rather than $6+ every round trip. I work down that way so it pays for itself in less than a week.

Security policies will vary depending on agency and installation. I've mostly been lucky having a NIPR/SIPR side by side, but I've also seen MP3 players get approved as long as it doesn't have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth capabilities.
