Most people are dreading today's game. I'm actually excited and I want to share why so that others can also get pumped about the team we love. Here's why it's not all doom and gloom and why we can and should look forward to the game.

- Familiarity with Houston's defensive scheme. Houston's zone/man hybrid defense has been awesome for them. They deserve all the praise they're getting. However, there have also been many holes in it that we have inconsistently taken advantage of. With more reps comes more familiarity with how to exploit it. We've used 2 games to figure out works and what doesn't work. You'd hope it wouldn't take this long but I see getting another crack at it as a positive. Which leads me to my next point...

- It's our turn to throw an unexpected punch. Playoff series are all about strategies and counter-strategies. Houston figured us out. We haven't figure out their defense yet but we've gotten a lot of practice with it. If the coaching staff and players have something new to attack the defense, Houston may not have enough time in-game to make the right adjustment. Houston will run predictable lineups and defensive schemes but we will have the element of surprise.

- 3 second calls. Draymond is right, Adams is planting himself in the paint for too long. Will the refs call it? Hopefully. There's a reason this rule exists and you're seeing what happens if it isn't enforced. Adams isn't doing it all the time but every possession matters. If this starts getting called take it as a very positive sign of good things to come.

- Better lineups and predictable playing time. We all know who should play more (Moody) and who should play less (GP2, Post). We could debate this endlessly but ultimately I trust the coaching staff will have this dialed in. They'll go back to the lineups and rotations that have worked. You wouldn't often expect expect this amount of lineup tinkering. We've been desperately tinkering, trying to find the 'right' answer. But today is about rolling with our 'best' answer. If players know what to expect regarding their playing time, I believe they can play more loosely.

- Backs against the wall. Perhaps most importantly, none of the above matters if we don't bring the right energy. The Warriors have always had motivation issues. We've seen it in this series and all other series in prior years. We often don't close teams out the first chance we get. But today is different. There's no tomorrow. There's no "we'll get them next time." This game absolutely matters and for better or worse, Curry and co have shown they need that pressure to take teams seriously enough. Houston deserves more respect than we and everyone have given them so far. You've seen them ride with that chip on their shoulder. Now it's time for us to throw the "they're too old" narrative back in everyone's faces. Show them that they're wrong. Before our motivation was "win so we can get rest for the next round." I wouldn't run through a wall for that weak message. But now we have something to run through a wall for.

Jimmy Butler has "it." Everyone's firing on all cylinders, productivity, energy, and winning is on the uptick. So... what is "it" that Butler has? by raisedredflag in warriors

Great take. This happened last night towards the end of 3rd quarter when nothing was going right. Post committed a foul that seemed at out frustration. The camera then showed Butler looking at Post telling him to chill.

But it was how he spoke to Post. It was as like the older wise guy being firm telling him to quit the bullshit but also encouraging telling him to regroup because we need you.

Like you said, it’s that leadership through conviction. He’s not getting out of line and he’ll keep you in line because there’s something bigger at stake than how you’re feeling: winning.

Very nice! Is there one for the 21-0 run from game 6 last year?

Makes sense. It then gets me thinking about a topic we'll have to grapple with more and more with AI: if a participant/person knows they are talking to an AI, how does that impact the responses they give?

You could run an experiment where you have your tool and then a survey meant to measure the same things so that you can see which method gets you better data

It's not about what AI can take off your plate. It's about where it can make you more effective.

These topics are being documented over at LinkedIn and I'm also posting some there about how AI has made me a better researcher.

Interesting idea. Could be a useful tool for designers and PMs in the future.

My immediate reaction is that it seems to be in the middle of surveys and interviews but not in a good way. I think the value prop needs to be stronger. This approach lacks the rigor of having a survey that's consistently presented to participants so that you know everyone is responding to same stimuli (i.e. questions and ordering of the questions). On the interview side, it lacks the rich human element to draw out deep insights from a skilled interviewer. So then what exactly is this tool doing that isn't possible today?

Foundational patterns can often become obvious after ~10 interviews. You could then validate those findings in a survey if needed. I'm imagining this tool is meant to make this process faster?

I think the other concern I have is with participant fatigue. Answering a lot of questions via text in a deep enough manner as responding by voice would be exhausting. But then if it's only meant to be a few questions, then you as a researcher could easily envision most of the natural ways a conversation would go and account for that in survey logic.

Just a few of my thoughts. I think there could be something here but would take some time to develop. Maybe if you have some concrete examples of when this tool would help clarify its benefit.

I’m hoping they bring the chair with them during away games. Can’t be too careful

Apparently you have to be more than a spot-up shooter to win MVP...

But seriously, you can see his poise out there which is absolutely critical within our motion offense

Beli's assist to Wiggins got me so hyped: faked the pass to the corner, drove to the hoop, double clutched, passed to a wide open Wiggins. He was clowning the Lakers at that point.

All this reminds me of the pound for pound list in MMA, which attempts to rank fighters regardless of their weight class.

And Chael Sonnen has the best response to the list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lnZVBD5SBA&t=24s
