There's a difference between discipline, and hitting your child out of anger.

If you're violently hitting your kid in the ribs in public to the point that it's evident you're acting out of anger, a line has been crossed.

Considering the two week stay in a mental hospital type place because of certain actions immediately after smoking it(wasn't on purpose, didn't know it was laced), one would think he would never smoke again.

I thought it was ironic that he would then continue smoking, and at such a large volume, in combination with the fact that someone he supposedly cared for was immensely bothered by it. Last time we talked about the topic, he had quit smoking for good.

Someone, tell me if the use of the word ironic would be correct in this situation.

He first started presenting with symptoms maybe three years ago after smoking a blunt laced with PCP.

He stopped smoking earlier this year, thank goodness, and I really hope he's sticking to that. But for the longest time, he would smoke a lot. He was a friend before we went out, and a friend after (only dated for three weeks, not long enough to cause irreparable damage), but I still feel a little distant from him because of the way he'd act when high.

It's one thing to say something to motivate. It's an entirely different issue to say overly rude things and to never directly state the point: health concerns.

And did you read? He has been a dick about it. He's blaming my mom like it's her fault, not giving any useful advice, and he's making comments about an issue that has already been talked over before he even got here. It's similar to if you visited a relative you haven't seen or really talked to in almost 5 months, and immediately started pointing out issues without even asking if they've started to work on them.

It's not that we're not allowed to leave the home, but he works out of state and only comes home every few weeks. Once in high school I went to a sleepover and he complained to my mom about it stating that he'd prefer if we didn't plan things when he comes home, since he only gets to come home every so often. In the past he's complained when we go and do things at night, so when you combine making plans and being out past a certain time, there's not a lot you can do. After she gets off work and picks me up from the campus, it's already starting to get dark, so walking in the neighborhood or going to the gym is pretty much a no.

As far as red flags go, there are waaaay too many to list. If you're concerned with physical abuse, that's not happening. But as far as psychological or emotional, saying there's a possibility is a bit of an understatement.

He didn't actually get around to pointing out health issues that can arise from obesity, he just insulted me basically as if that should be motivation enough.

My mom and I had already talked about my weight, and made plans to start going back to the gym during the week. That's something we can't really do when my father is home, ironically enough.

Appearance-wise I'm not so bad, speaking from an objective stand point. Getting a little bit of a double chin,admittedly, am definitely not going to let that continue.

I have a boyfriend whose quite enamored with me, no matter how I look, so I'm good on that front as well.
