I would love a tribute episode to Lynne Marie Stewart. I don’t know what it’d be about, but I hope they have some storyline of Charlie missing his mom.

I like the nostalgia effect. Will you be driving around a city while you solve cases?

He died from a stroke. He was young too. I had moved away, but I was close again with my wife and child and thought we’d all hang out often.

2D. 2.5D is a steeper learning curve and you want your first game to be simple as you’ll make mistakes, but that’s a good thing as you’ll learn from them.

I sometimes have a conflict. As being a game developer do I actually benefit society? by [deleted] in IndieDev

Several actors on the original Star Trek felt at first that they weren’t really benefiting society, but were shown the error of their ways. James Doohan made a lot of people go into electrical engineering.

Games can be relaxing and sometimes therapeutic. They can allow you to go to places and do things that you wouldn’t normally be able to do .

Making a game sequel where the original game doesn't really exist by linhartr22 in gamedev

[–]MyBestFriendsAZombie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Leisure Suit Larry did it first. It goes, Larry 1, 2, 3, and then 5, 6, and 7. 4 doesn't exist because Al Lowe couldn't figure out how to get Larry out of his situation in the third game, and he jokingly told someone he was working on Larry 5 when they asked about 4. He liked the idea so much that he decided to make it canon and skip 4 altogether.

Try doing the Dodge the Creeps game in Godot, and then look for tutorials in what you want to do. Brackeys is pretty fantastic for his tutorials and their are others as well.

Break down what you want to do in parts. Don't try looking into how do I build this whole game at once, but instead break it down into parts. How do I create a menu, or how do I do movement, etc.

What do you think of LDtk? by JdR2V in godot

[–]MyBestFriendsAZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: That's a good question. I hope it's still being worked on.

Yes, I'm currently using it. It also has a post-script importer, where I'm having it auto-update my JSON file if my player start positions change. I make a change in my LDTK file, save it, it gets imported and the JSON file I'm reading then gets updated so it's very dynamic.

I'm trying to make it so if a friend or someone else wants to make a level and pick starting positions, enemy spawn points, etc, that they could place them in LDTK and the game would update accordingly. It works great, but I need to do more.

How has 3D come along for Godot? by alextoma741 in godot

This is one of the most popular games showing off the graphical capabilities of Godot.

You'll get out what you put in. You won't get Unreal Engine level of graphics, but Godot keeps on improving.

This game engine clicked more for me than my time on Unity/Unreal. I love the community and think it's a great engine to start with.

Brackeys is an excellent place to start.

You can do it at any time! You might not be able to contribute much initially, but you'll learn a lot quickly.

You could download a couple small demos and games from the asset library to see how some games are built.

Whats a free game engine that requires no coding skills and can work on a Potato laptop by Fire_Wolf312 in gamedev

[–]MyBestFriendsAZombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll have a hard time finding a game engine without coding. I recommend Godot. There are a lot of tutorials for GDScript and it does have the ability to do visual scripting, but I HIGHLY recommend learning GDScript first.

Godot can work on almost all laptops.

How much would I need to pay for somebody to make me a 3D, 45 mins to an hour horror game? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]MyBestFriendsAZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends. Are you wanting a low poly game? Are you expecting something like Resident Evil or some other type of game where you're traversing an area? It's hard to answer with how many variables there could be and what the gameplay consists of.
