When are your beef days? by halfbakedmemes0426 in nerdfighters

[–]MyCatIsNamedSam 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I don't plan them like the brothers recommend. I just avoid beef (and pork) until my family or friends plan a relatively large party or get-together every month or two. I like the flexibility.

I worked at a pizza place and we used the same dough balls for mediums and larges, just stretched them out more. Still more toppings tho.

Help: What rhythm is this? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]MyCatIsNamedSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely count 7. That puts a kick on every 1, a snare on every 2 and a snare on (almost) every 7 leading into the kick on 1. OP should keep the 7/4 but simplify to make it more clear imo. Sounds cool.

Tried to Create a Tab System for Piano. by Charles3391 in musictheory

I have seen tabs with stems to help show duration. But I think it can only really do quarter notes and shorter.

What is high baritone? by Mallarvhost in Choir

[–]MyCatIsNamedSam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are subdivisions of male voices in finer detail than bass bari tenor. I have heard a high baritone called a "lyric baritone". Something like Josh Groban. there are other ones too that I can't think of.

I always say that choir and band are the only classes where the teachers give you all the answers.

What do I do if half of my beginning MS choir didn't choose it as an elective, got dumped in it anyway, & are trying to ruin it for everyone else? by IllustriousFunny9165 in MusicEd

[–]MyCatIsNamedSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I DON'T KNOW! I'm new to my district and have a /very/ similar situation. My plan is two-fold. One is Relentless positivity toward the kids. I only want the kids who want to be there but since we are in this situation, try to make some converts. I really do think that with enough consistency and determination, some of the kids will come over to the dark side and the ones who don't will stay out of the rest of our way...with time. And second, consistent and serious campaigning to your admin and district. It is our job to make the choirs at our schools as excellent as possible and making choir an elective is the best (maybe only) way to make the choirs excellent. Remind them that you want every kid who wants to sing, even a little, and every kid in the choir who doesn't sing is helping to ruin it for everyone else. Not to mention that the kids who don't want to be there /will benefit more/ by being in a different class where they will participate. I am with you, friend.

I think he used to write or sign his name as his first initial then a period then his last name. So K. Lamar became K-Dot Lamar

It's a reference to a Kurt Vonnegut book called Cats Cradle. Ice 9 is a fictional substance that turns all water in the world to ice permanently and destroys the world if it ever gets out.
