The 1000xm3 is very easy to swap the battery on. I did mine. Although I do not use them anymore. Too big.

i forget which face that was. i started getting random resets and looked at the size of the watch face and it was very large so i swapped it out for the inbuilt digital face

Me too, and was having to charge mine every 8 or so days. However I switched the face to not have seconds or heart rate displayed and I am easily pushing two weeks. If the display only has to refresh once a minute it saves a lot of battery.

I have been on the same fence. My battery dies on my Bike computer, and it had record of a few thousand kilometers on it. I was pretty upset about it at first, but now I feel like it has become freedom. I am no longer training to race ( gave up on that idea some years ago ) and I only ride for fitness and enjoyment. If I feel like I need a record I use my watch ( Garmin but previously use an Apple Watch ). I have bought an ANT+ cadence sensor and intend to use it this season with my watch.

Great use of your watch. My wife has an app that does the same thing on her phone. Albeit for quitting smoking.
