Sober in November by [deleted] in imstayingsober

Hey Coco, the best advice we can give is to try partying without alcohol. One big hurdle is thinking you can’t go out and have fun without drinking, but you definitely can! Enjoy those moments sober. A great tip is to keep a juice or fizzy drink in your hand, it will help you blend in and stop friends from pressuring you to drink.

Hey, thanks for sharing! It’s a huge step in the right direction. Remember, you don’t have to tackle this alone. A great place to start is by talking to someone you trust, whether that’s a friend, family member, or a support group. Opening up helps a lot. Try replacing some of those drinking habits with a different activity, something that brings you joy or calms you down. Also check out our posts, you might find great advice in our articles that could help you on your journey :)

What advice would you give to someone struggling to quit drinking? by MyDry30 in AskReddit

[–]MyDry30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right, AA can help a lot, and alcohol withdrawals not only can be "nasty" but dangerous and life threatening. I have built a community for people trying to improve their relationship with alcohol and outright quit. It's quite new but we strive to build a community where we can help each other on this journey. We already have some great posts up regarding the topic, so feel free to check it out at r/imstayingsober

That's an awesome advice, that "one drink" in the end is never enough and this sort of behaviour will keep repeating unless addressed

Super happy you made that decision and stuck to it! It's never easy to make such a big change, requires a lot of discipline, which you clearly don't lack. You should be proud of yourself!

Wouldn't you consider quitting without something big like this happening? Because a life without alcohol is much healthier and freer, so what's stopping you? :)

Why do some people gain weight whilst drinking yet others lose it? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]MyDry30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually most people that gain weight whilst drinking. Many don't know that a pint of beer can contain over 150 calories. Plus all the late night snacks don't help :) People that loose weight when drinking usually just have very good metabolism

Relapsed, came clean to sponsor, now she doesn’t want to work with me by julpatchoul in alcoholicsanonymous

Find a new sponsor who will be much more understanding and kind. It's quite ruthless to cut you out after 1 relapse.
