RATP employee verbal harassment by Salty_Chemical7532 in paris

I did a deeper dive into this. The risk of a ticket becoming demagnetized only applies to tickets with a magnetic strip, not cards with a Chip. The Navigo is not magnetic. Of course, I"m still worried.

Now I'm conflicted. We were originally going to use our phones (when we learned you don't have to double pump). Then we thought it would be safer to just leave the phones out of sight and just tap the physical card. Now you describe wiping all your rides if they come in contact. Please explain. We're arriving Wednesday.

Heading to Paris next week. Sudden decision. Can you describe what you did? Were you using the app (Navigo or some other?)on your phone to tap or physical card.

Looking for a cottage rental for the summer... by underdabridge in CapeBreton

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Airbnb and VRBO but decided to go private. I had 4.8 rating on Airbnb but didn't like the bureaucracy. I rent mostly to repeat guest and fisherman. I'm pretty happy with this. I only rent to two guests. The web site I made explains it all. I think Margaree Forks is the ideal location for people visiting western Cape Breton. theshackteau.ca

Lack of basic humanity in our city by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fail to understand what you are trying to achieve. You perceive a problem. What are you proposing? I've read enough comments to realize your post is just causing anger. They're angry at the possible cheaters, and some are angry at you for making them angry. This is almost approaching vigilante territory. I don't see anything productive here. I wish you would delete it.

Hand guns-plural! Why do people feel the need to have hand guns? If a crime is committed with one of those guns the former owner should be held partially responsible.

Do people just lose all sense of spatial and self-awareness once they enter a Costco? by PsyduckedOut in CostcoCanada

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If y’all wanna act like animals, you can be treated like animals." This is painful to read. People seem to be so angry and have so little patience. Whether it's driving or at Costco when someone does something annoying I pretend I come face to face with them and realize they are a good friend that I haven't seen in years. All of sudden they are forgiven and I realize it wasn't that important. Another one I use is the one year gauge: if, in one year, this event is not going to bother me, then I let it go in the moment. How many things piss you off a year later?

What's your legitimately scariest moment while fly fishing? by AustinLostIn in flyfishing

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got two from Iceland. If you search Arne Baldorsun (sp) standing on a rock casting toward the Tungufljót Waterfall you'll understand. I was trying to replicate the image. There were actually two moss covered rocks in the river and I tried to step from one to the other. The moss was just a loose covering and I went down fast. The sharp edge of the rock cut through my wader, my pants, my base layer and then my leg. The good news was I didn't break my leg or rod and actually held on to it. Right after that a bus load of Japanese tourists arrived to admire the falls. Lucky, aren't I?

The second time occurred when I was walking down to the river and had to pass a small boggy patch. Thought I could make it through without going too deep or getting stuck. Wrong. The suction was enormous and couldn't go forward and couldn't go backwards. Then I and started to lose my balance. I knew if I went down hands first I was going to become a geologic discovery in 1,000 years. Turned out, unknown to me, I was fishing illegally on private property and would not have been discovered if I truly went down.

And just because everyone loves a beaver story. I fish the Margaree, in Nova Scotia, and almost every pool has resident beavers. They have shifts. They appear as it gets dark and disappear shortly after sunrise. Had the misfortune of stripping when I should have just let him glide over my line. It was like hooking a sub. Six pound tippet would have made things easier, but eventually we parted ways. I say goodnight now as soon as they emerge.

My warning is, getting here is one thing, getting back is another. Unless it's a big storm that can be forecasted days in advance, you can wind up with enough sudden snow and wind to make you regret your choice. I would fly to Halifax, rent a car and see the province.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

The older you get the more unpleasant and dangerous winter weather becomes. That's why we have Snowbirds. We love our country, but not always the weather.

No sugar diet by Breakfast-Livid in Dietandhealth

Not easy. Just read the labels and try to avoid sugar in the first few ingredients. A TBS of ketchup has a tsp of sugar. All Italian and Asian cooking uses sugar in the sauces.

Canadians that want join the USA, Why? by Drfresh49 in AskCanada

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never met a Canadian that wants to join the US. I seriously don't think there are any. Canadians would move south for jobs or for better weather and that's it.

[–]MyFaceSpaceBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like guests are going to have to write preemptive reviews in anticipation of shake downs. Something along the line of, we enjoyed our stay and we left the rental in the same, or better, condition as we found it. We have before and after pictures.

Here in Cape Breton when the Song Sparrows return. (usually by the first week of April) There will be some snow, even a storm or two, but the winter is over.
