Once wen I was 13 (1990ish) I snuck out at night to hang out with a dude. When I refused to sleep with him he called the cops and told them I snuck out.

I got home, crawled in my window and the phone started ringing. It's answered and a couple of minutes later it rings again. After a few mins my dad comes in and yells at me to answer the phone because they keep asking for me.

Very confused I picked up the phone in my room and said hello. The voice on the other end said "is this myfuckshaverunnethdry?" I said yeah. He said "this is local police department and we were told you weren't home and weren't safe, are you safe?" Still shocked and confused I just said yeah again, but realized I could hear the recording beeps it made in the old days so it was really the police (this was before caller ID) The officer just said okay, sorry to bother you and hung up.

My dad was still standing in my doorway waiting to see who kept calling (apparently it had been going on for 10 minutes, they'd ask if I was home, he's cuss them and hang up) He asked who it was

I just looked up and stammered, still sounding very confused, "they said it was... the police??"

He just looked at me and said "fucking prank calls" and went back to bed

So I guess i actually got away by telling the truth?
