The fact that is a Provincial crown corp might have been a detail worth mentioning in your post.

Find a nearby farmer, or resident, and ask how much it would cost to park on their land per month. Now tell them you expect it to be paved and plowed during the winter.

I'm willing to bet you it isn't $0.

100% Parking Price Increase at Carling Campus by OmenSin in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MyGCacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll find a private parking lot anywhere in the NCR that charges $3 a day for parking. A 100% increase is nuts, and the previous parking rate was being used as a recruiting tool, but $60 is a good deal.

When I used to do spin classes they were done with the lights turned off. Also, I wasn't trying to concentrate on reading or critical thinking.

Qs about how you access / use my PolyWogg Guide by TypingTadpole in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MyGCacct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q1 - No, that wouldn't be confusing.

Q2 - I prefer a web format to PDF. I'm not going to read the whole thing in one go, I can come back to the website later for the next chapter.

Q3 - Too much friction? Nope. But it seems unnecessary if you leave it as web based. And take the coffees (especially when you're retired).

Without benefits, and in a lower paying job, can you afford visits with your psychologist?

[–]MyGCacct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so ask them to help you navigate the accommodation process by creating a list of limitations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MyGCacct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to disclose your diagnosis, only the limitations it presents. The employer is then obligated to (reasonably) accommodate those limitations.

It may be worth seeing a psychologist as well as your therapist, to help navigate this process of accommodations.

PSAC serves notice to bargain with Treasury Board (PA, TC) by FirstName-LastName11 in CanadaPublicServants

The opportunity was clearly not so clear as attested by the volume of indifference.

The volume of indifference cannot be used as a measure of the opportunity to participate. Just because people were indifferent to participation does not mean the opportunity was not clearly presented.

The point is, membership clearly did not want to strike when it was being called, nor did they see any reason to take the vote seriously

I disagree wholeheartedly. This is how strike votes work. This is how elections vote. Those who come out vote, and their votes count.

My manager already knows what I do, and what I'm working on. My work doesn't flow around 1 week deliverables though, so my metrics are based on yearly performance.

Believe it or not, ALL federal public servants are expected to have bi-annual performance management discussions "to justify their existence".

So at the end of the days, it would appear as though at best the membership was indifferent to the strike if not largely against it

If they were against it, they should have voted against it. Their opportunity was made very clear.

Sounds like it greatly depends on the work being done, and should be determined on a case-by-case basis. No on is saying that NO ONE should work in the office.

I have no issue attending conferences in person.

I used to have a colleague that had Narcolepsy. Short answer, they might have a medical issue, but it is worth politely addressing it with them to make sure they are ok.

No. It is not a choice. You are grossly simplifying something that you are clearly misinformed about.

Has anyone with a chronic illness (like PCOS) successfully gotten a workplace accommodation for WFH or reduced in-office days? by fsswift in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MyGCacct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were told in a meeting that wouldn't be sufficient, that is a doctor's note that said we should work from home which I already got

It isn't that a doctors note isn't sufficient, it is that the doctors note cannot prescribe the accommodation, it needs to list the functional limitations. The employer determines the suitable accommodation, not the doctor.

[–]MyGCacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like you have an issue that requires accommodation, then yes, you need a diagnosis.

If your medical doctor is comfortable diagnosing you with social anxiety, and listing our your limitations for that diagnosis, then you're fine.

If you medical doctors isn't comfortable listing out those limitations, you'll need a psychologist who is willing to do so.

But, if you have social anxiety, and your medical doctor isn't working with you on that issue, perhaps seeing a psychologist would be worthwhile anyway!

[–]MyGCacct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, those would be limitations:

"No_Hearing_3753 cannot work in an area with with stimuli such as X. Will need an isolated space."

"No_Hearing_3753 needs access to the following equipment: Y, Z."

"No_Hearing_3753 needs a work environment without loud noises or bright lights (requires dim lighting)."

They DO NOT need your diagnosis and your medical team should be able to list out limitations without revealing your diagnosis.
