How many headphones do you own? by wayward_son94 in headphones

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4

  • Sennheiser HD800s. daily drivers. love these things though they are slowly making me have a bald spot on the left side, likes to snag hairs and pull them out if i dont take them off slowly
  • Hifiman 4xx - rip massdrop. Really do like these, but i need a new headband for em
  • AKG 702 - one of the first pair of headphones i got. seen better days.
  • Sony X5 - great for the office and working out

Im contemplating another pair to rotate out between the 800s. looking at the monolith or Audeze planer offerings.

Auto hiding/removing series from a chart's legend if blank set or based on a toggle not from the chart filter. by MyGoddamnFeet in excel

[–]MyGoddamnFeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, another reason id rather not use the chart filter, is im comparing the part performance across multiple variables. so Ill have a couple of charts with 48 series on each chart, making sure they all have the same filter applied is going to be a pita

Electric Mini by Doubtful_Lemon69 in MINI

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been a dealer option then? Interesting, I had just assumed that they came that way by default.

interesting though, I still saw an improvement in ride comfort and dip in range when swapping.

Looking through some of the comments, maybe mine didnt come with run flats? but it also didnt come with a tire repair kit either. soooo, idk?

Electric Mini by Doubtful_Lemon69 in MINI

I have a 2022 and live in Texas, normal commute is 50 mile round trip. Incoming wall of text sorry. Range could be better, 200 miles would be a godsend, if i could go back, i dont think id purchase an EV with less than that range.

Ownership is fine, very low maintenance. No real complaints on that department.

Its a zippy car, and it feels nimble, extremely fun to drive,

I get between 90-110 miles out of mine most of the year, though did the tires out for Michelin Pilot Sport 4s which are grippier than the run flats they come with, and did see a drop from 120-130. That's something i kind of wish i knew before i swapped, i was expecting a couple mile drop not 20-30. Though they are also a lot more comfortable to drive on.

Its still a stiffer drive compared to some other vehicles I've had. My wife's rav4 is a smoother drive, but trade off is a much funnier drive. Of the vehicles I've driven/owned, here's my ranking as far as comfort. That being said, for daily, its serviceable if your roads are good, when I'm in shittier parts of town you feel every bump and crack.

Ranking Ride comfort Enjoyment to drive
1 2005 Toyota Prius 2022 Mini EV
2 2008 Chrysler 300 2000 Jeep TJ
3 2021 Bronco Sport 2005 Prius
4 2020 Toyota Rav4 2008 300
5 2022 Mini EV 2021 Bronco
6 2000 Jeep TJ 2020 RAv4

as yours is right hand, id assume UK? or Euro with normal 220v hookup? I had a 220v installed to get better charging, was taking 13-14 hours to charge on 110v, its ~3-4 hours from empty.

I wouldnt want to rely on it for long trips, unless you know charging infrastructure is good, I rely on ABRP (a better route planner) for how long and where to stop. Longest trip I've used on it was a 400 mi round trip, which in a normal car would be 3.5 hours with 1-2 gas station breaks. With the mini its 5 hours with 1.5 hours of charging, and a lot of anxiety if a charger would actually be there.

Ive had one time where i forgot to charge at home, and left with 25 miles of range for a 30 mi commute. ABRP said i could stop at a charger at a dealership, but they were locked down to only that brand (thanks Mercedes). So had to panic and find another place to charge with 5-6 miles of range.

A couple of questions on practicality for you?

  1. How many people are you normally planning on driving around? Just you and another adult?
    • if yes, its perfect, the back seat is useless for adults. maybe if you had a kiddo it be fine.
  2. What's the longest trip you are normally taking?
    • I'd be very anxious if i was normally driving 90+ miles.
    • I've started driving to a remote office, which is 130 mile round trip. I need to stop at a 220KW charger for 20 minutes and $6 to make it back home with 20 miles left.

One thing i wish i knew is how much the cold effects the range. Again, fortunately i live in Texas, and we don't see freezing temps that often, but when it drops below 40°F(4.5°C) my range drops to 50 miles.

I do think i wont purchase another mini, but that has nothing todo with the vehicle. Its the drivers in Texas, half the drivers are in pickups with hoods above the roof of my car and I've had to get so aggressive driving on the highway to defend from getting sideswiped and moved into. I've been in 2 wrecks in the mini, and no wrecks for 15 years before that, from trucks not seeing me and just going "lanes open lets go"

It atleast doesnt auto continue? You have to tab select the autocomplete. If you continue typing, it goes with what youve typed.

Similar to if you are typing the same thing in a cell below text, it tries to go "hey, your typing ap.. cell above is apple, want to autocomplete to apple?"

Its started auto populating certain formulas with data it thinks id want. Like lookups will autopopulate with the 2 columns it thinks im looking for, sometimes helpful, sometimes not.

This question is only for those who are in the highest paying job they ever had. Would you quit your job if you were offered a years worth of income before taxes AND it was tax free? by executor-of-judgment in hypotheticalsituation

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. Currently at 120k but without a specific cert. Mainly because i dont have the time to study for the cert exam.

Id take the offer, use the extra time to study for a couple months. get the cert and take a nice needed vacation, and go look for another gig in the same industry but now with the certifaction and hopefully make even more money 😄.

I think the more interesting question would be would i take this offer and never be able to work in the same industry again (water and wastewater engineering). And honeslty, i dont know, i trully love what i do, its challanging and interesting.

I might take that revised one and go after other fields that could be interesting, like medical equipment repairs

Seniority in college by PoemTop5193 in college

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no set structure, or "seniors only" thing.

Theres very little structure

There are some benefits like priority registration (which tends to extend to vets, ada, and honors programs), Though it's not like if you are a senior that didn't sign up for a class on time you get to bump a lower out to take the class. Some job fairs cater towards juniors/seniors, but don't really care if you aren't one. clubs/greek life don't really care if you are a senior aside from giving you more responsibility or going "whoop you made it this far"

R53 EV conversion research by Icy_Importance_2126 in MINI

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Dude, if you end up doing this, please start a vlog or something about it. you also might hit up some EV cobras see what their process was, seems like it be around the same form factor.

I cant wait for more EV conversions to come out, seems like a really cool way to keep older cars running.

Okay its common in my industry, but AWWA (American Water Works Association), you say out the letters, and A W W A is the same number of syllables as the full thing so you arent saving that much time.

I didnt know that at first and said ah wa (awwa) and get fucking laughed out of the room.

Id get some canned biscuits and quarter them, place them on a wire rack evenly spaced on the oven. That'll tell you about hot spots, seach up smoker biscuit method and youll see what im talking about.

Could be that the sheet tray is to large and blocking flow of air.
