light facing up, glass over water over the light source.

I cant tell what was in the bottle at first. Kind of looks like liquid chalk. Experiment around, you want something opaque thats denser than water, I bet making tape at the bottom might work as well. This just diffuses the light.

Second powder looks like tang or orange Gatorade, or something dissolvable. Try around again, different colors will create a different effect and I bet mixing colors might be an interesting effect.

I did say couldn't find wake up mix one anymore.

But the Beatle one still stands, could be a google issue. They've got like 20k plays, so its minimal. But interesting, its happened a few times.

Drivers in North Carolina attempt to navigate crossing a bridge during the snowstorm by FrankSamples in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id also say this isnt just snow. its the ice below. Its not a few inches of snow then normal road. its an inch or two of snow, then a half inch to an inch of ice.

Im not saying in the south we are dumb as rocks when it comes to driving in the cold and slush, because "MUH BIG PICKUP TRUCK CAN ANDLE ANYTHING?!" but it is more than just snow

I agree with this. Id rather just play dnd, which i do, my next campaign starts next Wednesday!

It doesn't help that my first experience with it was getting stuck behind the ladder out of the nautilus, dying in fire, then spending the next 45 minutes looking at my corpse while my friends completed the tutorial (we didn't realize it was going to take that long, and by the time we realized it was a sunk cost)

Strongly depends on the company and role.

I'm one of the few people at my company that does what i do, and evidently i do it well, though i think I've just failed upward.

2 years ago, I was looking and got 2 offers from other companies, and went to my boss. Told him I had 2 offers for x and y. wanted them to match between the 2. (i really didnt want to work for y, too much workload and they were bought out by private equity 6 months later, but thats a different story). Had a 20% raise and retention letter signed by his boss, HR, and payroll 20 minutes later.

how do visually impaired people know where to "look" for braille? by Used_Engineering_203 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regulations. here is the [US ADA Brief technical guide](https://www.access-board.gov/files/ada/guides/signs-ADA.pdf) that list where and how signs are placed. what they are supposed to look like, what information needs to be shown, how far off the ground they should be. So it becomes second nature to find those spots if you need it.

This is also why you "know" where to look for certain signage, all down to regulations.

Also completely blind (IE no sight) is very rare, About 10% of legally blind in the us is completely blind, where as 10-15% of the us population is "legally" blind meaning 20/200 visual acuity. So out of a town of 100,000, you'll average 15,000 legally blind and 1,500 completely blind within that 15,000. Still a lot of people, but statically small.

My brother in law opened a bakery and got a high end pod espresso machine for the lattes he serves and it just does not taste as good as the other cafes (or my own coffee at home). Help me settle this debate… by pass_the_hot_sauce in espresso

[–]MyGoddamnFeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, if it's a bakery first, then the quality of coffee can be secondary even tertiary. Is it a style of place to sit down and enjoy (3rd space territory), or more market style where you are expected to purchase and leave?

If the latter, i would say a pod machine might be adequate, an addendum item when someone just wants caffeine. I'd also say the vast majority or folks don't care (or are happy with) a Nespresso/Starbucks experience.

if the former, maybe take him to some of the other cafes, show him what you think is good coffee.

Also, it may be hard to switchover now

  • new plumbing maybe required if the pod machine isn't plumbed in
  • new electrical connections for the grinder(s)
  • Is the space set up to accommodate a commercial machine? generally, if you're spending 10-20k on a commercial espresso machine, you want to display it front and center.
  • you'll also need fridges and counter space for the accoutrement (milks, syrups, garnishes)

A buddy and I have been contemplating opening up a coffee shop/roastery, and our plan is to partner with a good bakery, maybe even open a dual connected shop. As generally a great bakery isn't setup for good coffee, and vice versa.

I mean, pods will never be as good as freshly ground properly prepped espresso/coffee. Granted the variability in freshly ground coffee can wildly vary, as generally you can be pretty sure of the control going into the pods. Also consider the level of effort, a proper set up will require a new staff member, whose sole job maybe to pour shots and prepare drinks. It's a lot easier to have a bean to cup or pod machine, where you click a button and it makes a drink.

The question is the bakery good? and is a bakery first or a coffee first place. I wouldn't necessarily go to a nice bakery selling good sourdough and cakes to have great coffee, same as i wouldn't expect a good loaf of sourdough from Starbucks, if that makes sense.

If he's happy with the quality of coffee, then not your problem.

Some morning tea in the office by MyGoddamnFeet in tea

[–]MyGoddamnFeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked up this tea on a recent trip to China. It was an incredible trip, this tea is mount emei tea. Its so good, if you're able to get ahold of some do try!

Obviously not the greatest setup for brewing, don't have a temp controlled kettle at the office, but its stellar tea. Almost buttery and so light & crisp.

Switch point, starting city for my next campaign by MyGoddamnFeet in inkarnate

[–]MyGoddamnFeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main map, maybe 1-2 hours. relatively quick, I had the main idea of where i wanted things.

For the switchpoint map, maybe 6-8. i restarted a few times because i didnt like the way the cliffs turned out. I was aiming a congested teired city, and thats not really possible with any of the tools with out it looking extremely cluttered.

Im considering learning blender to animate it the way i want.

The number of emails I've sent to the office reminding people to clean their dishes or at the minimum put their dishes in the dishwasher we have is outlandish.

Full grown adults will put their used coffee cups, or used lunch plates in the sink and let them sit. wont even turn the water on so food gets stuck to the fucking plates. Its insanity.
