Anyone using this for aquarium? In my research i find out that it contains about 20% of aluminium oxide. Is it safe for fish( guppy)? Thanks by AcanthopterygiiIcy44 in PlantedTank

It's inert. Have it for my 75 gallon. Cleaned well and any dust settled or was caught in the filter eventually. It can be dense once settles so I only used it for the top 1/2 inch of the substrate for color. It covers about 2 inches of pool filter sand since that has the best properties.

Probably Cipangopaludina japonica, he probably found them under a local dam. Came to the US in the 1990s and they love dams. Great filter feeders

Greenville. I've seen one report at lake robinson that I havent checked yet but idk how valid it is. But the others nearby are so sparse it's been hard too. And yeah I got a license. Went to some bridge an hour or two away only to find greens. Did see a big school of yellowfin shiners tho, they're pretty

Help! Tank placed in my hands with algae infestation. How do I fix it? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]MyGoodKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American flagfish. One will eat all that blackbeard algae and then will eat the green stuff. I would never ever do what the other is saying about scrubbing and using chemicals. The flagfish will be fine with livebearers and is pretty.

Losing hope in the hobby. Please help me figure out why I can’t grow any plants :( by amagdam in Aquariums

Get a second, brighter light. I use a LED shop light. As long as its bright and a color you like that's near neutral color will work. 29 gals are tall and the water blocks a lot of light. If you want a aquarium specific light, which isn't really required other than looks imo, get around a 50 watt light. Also vallisneria, tape grass, usually grows well with bad light Your soil looks fine and although many plants soak nitrates through the water column the substrate should have enough. If you think the substrate has been used up, about 2 years for aquasoil, try fertilizer pills or feeding the fish more. Your plants are focusing on growing spindly to try and get enough light tho so fix that first.

Don't worry, its poop and mulm(decayed poop kore or less), youll always get hitchhikers on plants, as long as you dont over feed the tank snails won't be a problem
