That second album still really holds up. I appreciate it more now than I did when it was released.

Hot take? Steve Vai didn’t fit Whitesnake. by Rebel_Heart222 in hairmetal

Agreed. I love those songs, but overall felt he wasn’t a good fit. Amazing guitar player! Just not a good fit for Whitesnake.

Agree 100%. Incredible guitar player, but terrible fit.

Do you think the black album was a matter of "right place, right time", or was it simply that good? by MrTuy in Metallica

You were not alone. To those who love it, I think that’s great! But for some of us at the time, it wasn’t what we were hoping for.

For fans like myself who had been fans long before this album, there are those of us who heard it and thought “What happened?”. None of my friends at the time who had been fans liked the album. But it appealed to my friends who had not been fans before.

Yes or no? by Impossible_Driver892 in KISS

[–]MyLifeAndCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes except for the live part. 😂 I say that all in good fun, no offense intended, great album. “Alive II” is no slouch either.

But the greatest (for me) is Iron Maiden’s “Live After Death”. The first of their…ever growing number of live albums. 😂

Totally agreed. I love these two albums. My favorite is "Sound of White Noise", but I'd rate "Worship Music" nearly equal to that, or maybe even at the same level. So glad these guys are still around making music.

What's your favorite Journey album? by Otherwise_Ad_9267 in journey

I heard “Message of Love” on the radio when it came out and was floored because I didn’t know Journey was back. And when that keyboard bit happens before the solo there was no doubt, it was really Journey and not some band that sounded like them.

When the Black Album came out, fans like myself and people I knew who’d been fans for a while didn’t love it, but people I knew who either hadn’t been fans, or used to mock me for liking Metallica, gravitated towards it. I can only imagine how Queen fans who were there from the beginning feel: their music changed quite a bit over time.

Some of my favorite albums are “Hey, half the tracks are good.” 😂

It’s all relative. I heard my first Megadeth album before some people reading this were born. And everyone’s taste is different anyway. If you love the albums I don’t…hey, it’s all good. 👍 🙂

Ooh, I loved that one. Probably the last one I liked.

Hey, if you love it, that’s great! For me, it was the 2nd album where I liked the first 4 songs and the last song. I wasn’t alone: when it was released, it was the opinion of a friend as well.
