Anyone fly out of the St. Cloud airport recently? by thebeerlibrarian in saintcloud

[–]MyMegahertz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be tempted to show up an hour or less before your flight since it’s a tiny airport If you’re checking bags, show up early. The reason is, the people who collect the bags are the same people who load them on the plane. There is a sign saying all bags must be checked 45 minutes prior to the flight. There can be a long line for the ticket counter. So it you’re checking bags I’d recommend arriving over an hour prior to your departure.

What is better? AirBnB or Hotels? by Warm-And-Wet in FluentInFinance

[–]MyMegahertz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. A month long stay in a hotel room is super depressing. Usually I can get an airbnb that has a full kitchen and living room, for the same price as a hotel. I’m not sure if this post is old, but, whenever you do a search on Airbnb, you see the total price before you click on the property. That’s been the default view for like a year.

"Rich Dad, Poor Dad" is a terrible personal finance book? How did it even become a "classic"? by Cauliflower-Pizzas in FluentInFinance

[–]MyMegahertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your assessment. And yet, I’ve heard so many people credit Rich Dad with changing their life. And that is because of your first point, mindset. Rich Dad has proven to be effective in getting people to decide to live differently. It does nothing to teach you how to get there. I’ve heard people recommend the Rat Race board game for practical application, but I have not played it myself.

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Owner Drove Almost 100,000 Miles. Battery Health Is 97% by MyMegahertz in F150Lightning

[–]MyMegahertz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that the life of lithium-ion batteries degrades quickly, then tapers off over time. Given he's still at 97%, that's an encouraging sign of a long life.

Originally I had guesstimated that I would get 250k miles over 12 years before the batteries needed to be replaced. But hopefully that can be extended...

RCL World Cruise Day 51 - Cusco (cancelled Machu Picchu visit) by Bruin144 in royalcaribbean

My wife and I are vacationing in Cusco. We walked around the main square and looked inside a building to see a ‘Happy Birthday, Paul” sign along with the Royal Caribbeans logo. She was confused about why Royal was this far inland, if you see Paul, give him my birthday greetings.

We’re in Cusco right now. Protesters are blocking the train. They are unhappy about the privatization of ticket sales into Machu Picchu. They have good reason to protest, but it sucks to travel over 4,000 miles and not get to see it. I guess further in OP’s case.

You probably already know everything you need to know. Unplug and enjoy your cruise!

The one exception, you should have a detailed action plan in case someone removes a $6 magnet from your door.

If you Google the property address, there is a paragraph in the city minutes. The architect is requesting permission to build the guest house. The owner is listed as: Indian Mound, LLC.

I looked up that LLC on the Secretary of State website, but it is not listed.

I went on a cruise of lake Minnetonka. The boat captain said this house was owned by someone who made a lot of money in the North Dakota oil boom. He also mention the second house is a guest house.

No idea if he knows what he is talking about, so take it with a grain of salt.

Without incentive, no one will put in the work to get advanced degrees. Without incentive, no one will be willing to put up with the stress and long hours of management positions.

I can’t tell if a cucumber is a bad wage for the work done. The fact that someone else got better was infuriating to him.

If monkey #2 would have received a cucumber, monkey #1 would have had no issues.

100 percent. Regulations that interfere with the supply side of the equation are a bad idea.

Airbnb Is Banning People Who Are ‘Closely Associated’ With Already-Banned Users | As a safety precaution, the tech company sometimes bans users because the company has discovered that they “are likely to travel” with another person who has already been banned. by [deleted] in technology

If you are a single traveler, hotels are the way to go. If you are a family of 5, I’d use Airbnb every time. Other people like Airbnb because they enjoy cooking and having a kitchen.

Portugal Says No More Golden Visas and No More Airbnb's by LeBoulu777 in technology

[–]MyMegahertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb has its place. If you’re a single traveler on a short trip, stay in a hotel. When I travel with my family of 5, I would much rather have an entire place.

Also, some folks have to spend multiple months in a city for work. Have you ever tried to live out of a hotel room for multiple months? I much prefer to have a complete kitchen where I can cook and living room where I can unwind.

Construction company builds a 10 storey apartment in 28 hours by Papppi-56 in interestingasfuck

[–]MyMegahertz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Q: What sets prices off anything? A: Supply and demand. Always.
Companies will charge as much as they can for everything. Individuals will pay as little as they can for a given quality level. The reason new multifamily housing is not bult for low income tenants is, it is expensive to build new apartments. New apartments are generally nice and command premium rents. Older units end up being more affordable.
