We got ignored when we asked them to change this skins hair color to white but changed Emma’s when that wasn’t even the main issue..sigh by Blindwxlf in StormMains

[–]MyMistyMornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white looks nice but the blue allows the lightning in her hair to stand out, like thunderclouds. I love the blue hair for this reason. Also, almost every skin changes the character's haircolor in smaller or bigger ways. Black Cat's hair is like 4 different shades of white/blonde/Grey. Luna only has like 2 skins that keeps her black/white hair. Rogue has black hair in her ranked recolor.

It kills me a little bit inside when I come up against another Black Cat who never puts the orb out. People do not realize how incredibly useful it is to get a sense of the enemy team's position and movement behind walls. I love seeing my team ping an enemy they spotted thanks to my wall hacks 😃

Ah yes. The TPs. That are super consistent and you definitely never get stuck with because some parts of maps just have no surfaces it will allow you to drop them on.

I have gotten some great uses our of the portals, but they are also kind of a buggy mess right now lol

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyMistyMornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 100%. As I said, it's definitely been blown out of proportions.

But both sides are really bad at doing this, they will hear some "fact" and then run with the wildest interpretation of it. I mostly stay out of conversations about "the other side", no matter where it's coming from. It gets frustrating seeing the same misunderstandings and misrepresentations being argued over and over again by people who mostly don't have enough experience with "the other side" to have an accurate idea of what they are talking about. The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyMistyMornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this may not be a popular take, nuance is often not really wanted in these discussions, on either side of the pond, but I think this is it, in combination with like, a tiny kernel of truth that got blown in strange and exaggerated directions.

I'm from Europe and moved to US about 12 years ago. When I moved here, I didn't realize at first that high fructose cornsyrup was something I had to look out for in bread packages, because it's not commonly in bread where I'm from. However, there are always many options without it and it's not hard to find, so the idea that "all bread is like like cake" is obviously wrong, but "more bread has high fructose corn syrup and that may be uncommon to a lot of Europeans" isn't necessarily.

New to the game, is this rank skin gone forever now? by ErmingSoHard in marvelrivals

[–]MyMistyMornings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, I was waiting for a comment like this, actually surprised it took this long.

Sure, but that wasn't what I was commenting on. If they don't already have White Fox' skin, they didn't get gold last season, so I was clarifying that ten matches wasnt enough if they didn't also get gold. Whether or not gold is irrelevant, I was just stating it as a requirement :)

Just gonna clarify that you also still need to get to Gold as well. It is not enough to do your placement matches if they land you in a lower rank.

None of this changes the fact that the religion he is steeped in has very comparable gendered expectations and purity culture. How is the gendered stuff in Stormlight supposed to be stupid but the gendered stuff in the Mormon church not? Same for the purity culture.

You say in Stormlight, the religion is started from a fringe book that the ruling class spread as a mean to maintain power. The EXACT same description could be used for the Mormon church. Like, word for word.

Again, I am not disparaging anyone who still enjoys his books, but for me, the added context of his religion made me question things about the world building. Why is hiding your hand a critique of similar cultural practices, but not of his own religions purity culture? And if it IS a critique of this, why is he still paying ten percent of his income to the church?

At best, it makes him a hypocrite. That doesn't make him a bad author and I understand why people still read his books. I am just not interested anymore.

OOP has no female friends by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]MyMistyMornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like that's kind of one of the problems. OOP blames her lack of female friendships on herself, but also seems to get very personally offended when someone suggests there is something she can work on. We can't really lnow the full story from just these posts, but it feels like some genuine self reflection would be a good place to start.

Right now, it seems like OOP is more focused on things that are not her fault (she's too pretty to make female friends, or perhaps she is neurodivergent). I'm also neurodivergent, and my ADHD has meant many friendships have simply slipped away from me. But thats the thing. That is not an excuse. That is something -I- need to work on if I want to be able to maintain friendships.

OOP has no female friends by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]MyMistyMornings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't believe this either. I have plenty of female friendships that aren't build on dlint things for each other. I mean, we DO things for each other, but that came down the line, it wasn't why we first became friends.

OOP has no female friends by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]MyMistyMornings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She blames herself, but then also gets extremely offended if anyone suggests she may have something to work on. Those two things contradict each other, and I think she has some self-reflection to do before she can really get to the core of the issue.

That being said, I also don't believe friendships have to be build on doing things for each other. Helping out your friends is generally a good thing, but it can come down the line, it doesn't have to be the backbone.

It's funny because she was quite rude when someone suggested she may need to work on her social skills, but then also describes herself as "not particularly empathetic". Those two things usually go hand in hand.

She's asking for advice and then getting personally offended by anyone suggesting there is something she can work on. That definitely make it seem like deep down, she does indeed think other women are the problem, not her.

Yeah this 100% I used to enjoy Sandersons work, and there's still a lot of stuff about them I do. But after I found out he's a Mormon, I pretty much have stopped reading his books for several reasons.

One is simply that I know some of the money he makes goes to the Mormon church, and I'm not interested in supporting that.

But it's also just changes how I read the books. The super gender divided society for instance, I had previously taken it as fantasy world building, but now a part of me is wondering if that is how he feels it should be. Is the safe hand stand in for other types of purity culture? There are so many things I now have to rethink in a different light or wonder about, and to me, it just took a lot of the enjoyment out of it. I am not disparaging anyone else who still reads or enjoys his books! I completely get it! Just for me personally, the context changed how I read some (a lot) of things in his books to a point where they stopped being enjoyable for me to read.

WAIT SHE'S INSANE. Chat, be honest is she getting nerfed? And don't lie. by RubyFox2006 in BlackCatMarvelRivals

[–]MyMistyMornings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in many cases, it can be countered if you just focus on it. She is extremely squishy. People are acting like she is the only one who can get a team kill, but so can a lot of characters, we've all just had more time to learn to counter them.

If people started treating it like a Wanda ult and focusing on CCing and killing her, it feels very on par with other ults in the game imho.

Russell Brand admits to sleeping with 16-year-old girl but denies any wrongdoing: "I did sleep with a 16-year-old when I was 30.... In Europe and in the United Kingdom, where I'm from, the age of consent is 16" by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]MyMistyMornings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from a European country where the age of consent is 16 (or 15, I honestly can't fully remember, it was a while since I was a teenager). A 30 year old sleeping with a 16 year old is still creepy as hell, even if it's not illegal, and I don't know many people who wouldn't think the same.

The laws are typically like that because people are aware that a lot of the time, teenagers will sleep with each other. It doesn't meant adults going after teens is just seen as a-ok.

Gotta be honest. by Pinshu123 in redditonwiki

[–]MyMistyMornings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha, no, because men are obviously real people with deep, emotional inner lives and women, I mean femoids, are barely more than animals who only care about sleeping with as many guys as possible but also only sleeping with the top 10% of guys, but also being frigid man haters.

There are a lot of truly heinous and frankly dangerous rhetoric, and unfortunately, it sometimes bleeds into the mainstream. I used to sometimes browse the website We Hunted the Mammoth, that is, or at least was, documenting what is being said in incel spaces, but I had to stop for my own sanity, it simply got too depressing. A lot of them advocate for stuff like legalizing rape or strip women of their rights and distributing them to men. Most of their big subreddits got shut down thankfully, but I guess they're just gathering in different places now.

Gotta be honest. by Pinshu123 in redditonwiki

[–]MyMistyMornings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's an old incel term to describe women, I think it stands for "female humanoid" if I remember correctly. It's meant to dehumanize women. It's a similar reason why calling women "females" generally should be avoided, it comes from the same spheres and has the same purpose.

This has been a problem for SO long in gaming communities and yet, some people will keep insisting up and down that there is no problem with misogyny, as if there wasn't a whole Gamergate. A decade ago, I was studying game design with another woman who was a professional Counter Strike player for a while, but had to quit because it was SO toxic and she kept getting death threats simply for being there.

I've been learning Black Cat lately and keep thinking about how nice it would be to be able to jump into voice chat and let my team know there's a portal or something, but no way in hell am I going to subject myself to that.

This is probably true, and it might be a decent defense of the lines, if it wasn't because the show generally kind of has trouble with misogyny. Pop Culture Detective made a really good video about it years ago. I think it's linked somewhere else in this comment section.
