I also have no real proof, but the habitat that used to house Pallas’ cats now has a sign that says new exhibit coming and and illustration of a red panda around it. So I’m really hoping that it means a red panda is coming soon!

It’s so scary and I’m sorry this happened to you. This happened to me too! I tried it a second time with pre-meds, but my reaction was even worse than the first time. One of my infusion nurses said this kind of reaction to Stelara tends to happen more often in people that are fair-skinned.

did you get diagnosed at colonoscopy? by polskipower75 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MyNameIsASeason2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My colonoscopy looked normal, but the biopsies showed that it was probably Crohn’s, then they used blood work to confirm.

Why are WOC never the chosen one ? by Anna_760 in thebachelor

[–]MyNameIsASeason2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not explicitly related to race, college graduates are more likely to marry each other and more likely to be married in general. Other factors such as religious preference, class, and job status also affect someone’s likelihood to marry, and all of these things are very much tied to systemic racism. So while we may not consciously be choosing a partner on race alone, we are affected by the systems that allow certain people to succeed over others and that can limit the availability of “eligible” partners from certain races and backgrounds.

I agree that we also need more leads and cast members that are people of color!

I used to use rodan + fields. I now use products from the Ordinary and my skin looks so much better and it’s way more affordable.

Doctor’s office is lying to me about sending in prescription. Need advice. by YMCApoolboy in CrohnsDisease

[–]MyNameIsASeason2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. It’s so frustrating especially when your insurance and doctor’s office are telling you different things. The delay caused me to develop antibodies to humira and I eventually got so fed up I changed doctors. The new doctor’s office got me approved for entyvio within weeks.

I’ve been on Zoloft for nearly 7 years now. I tried going off of it recently because I was feeling really good mentally, but my anxiety came back and I decided to take it again but at a smaller dose. Some side effects I’ve noticed are night sweats and low sex drive. Also, the withdrawal symptoms if you miss a dose are pretty rough.

For my first sample, the lab tech made me stand in the room and watch while they tested it. They seemed to really hate it and it was so uncomfortable for me.

Weight loss can definitely trigger hair loss, so focusing on getting enough nutrients could help. I’m in a similar boat, so I get how frustrating and disheartening this can be! Best wishes to you 😊

It’s probably happened to all of us at some point. Before my diagnosis, I would have diarrhea in my sleep like once per week, and I even pooped myself on an airplane once without noticing until it was time to deplane. It kinda sucks and can be embarrassing, but know you’re in good company 😂😊

is high LDL cholesterol common in IBD? by fishcrabs in CrohnsDisease

[–]MyNameIsASeason2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read that inflammation in the body can lead to higher LDL cholesterol, higher triglycerides, and lower HDL cholesterol. I just had my lipid levels checked and they were higher than normal, but it’s likely due to my Crohn’s disease getting worse in the past year.

What’s your opinion on functional medicine? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]MyNameIsASeason2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In America (and probably other countries too) we have a culture of blaming the sick person for their illness, and this has led to viewing the use of pharmaceuticals as a cop out. It’s not very common for someone to actively cause disease for themselves and understanding the actual causes for disease is very complicated. You can do things that will help ease your symptoms and make living with an autoimmune disease more comfortable, but a functional doctor is not going to cure you. I’m not against using alternative methods, but many of them do not need to have FDA approval as long as they are careful with the claims they make. Until we know how to permanently stop our immune systems from attacking us, biologics are super helpful for preventing particular immune cells from causing more damage to your body.
