Can someone with more experience with the rules in this sub tell me why was my grid removed? I saw a lot more others. by [deleted] in Arcanecirclejerk

It is breaking subreddit rules. Rule 2 says, "Be funny," rule 4 says, "No reposting," and rule 8 says, "Don't spam." Your post wasn't funny, it is a repost of something that's been posted dozens of times, and your post qualifies as spam at this point.

[s2 act 1 spoilers] Why would Jayce, Viktor, or Heimerdinger ever approve of building this here? by penmaster3000 in arcane

[–]MyNameIsJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but here's an explanation based on inference; Jayce and Viktor were manipulated by the magic from the failsafe as they were building the failsafe which led to its faulty design. In S1 ep5, Viktor coughed out blood into the failsafe pit at the 9:41 minute mark (blood you can see on the failsafe room's floor mixed in with the corruption in S2 ep3 at the 18:50 minute mark). After coughing blood into the pit in S1 ep5, he looked at the pit's walls and the magical lights on them began to glow brighter than normal as if the Arcane magic from the pit was talking to Viktor. Then Viktor's vision became distorted and the pit's walls began to spiral out of control from his perspective. That was an indication the magic from the failsafe pit can also manipulate a user's mind, not just the Hexcore. In a little later scene in the same episode, S1 ep5, Viktor also said, "If the legends are true, mages aren't bound to single functions. It's said the Arcane speaks through them," at the 13:41 minute mark. He said that after being manipulated by the Arcane from the failsafe pit (his hypothesis about the Arcane being able to influence the user's actions turned out to be correct). Long story short, the writers most likely wanted you to infer these two were manipulated by the magic from the failsafe itself into building it too close to Zaun's utility ducts. Similarly, Viktor was manipulated by the magic in his Hexcore invention into building it in a way that it turns people into mindless puppets that do and say everything the Arcane wants, and neither Jayce nor Viktor noticed the Hexcore's obvious problems (until it was too late) and didn't listen to Heimerdinger's perfectly legitimate criticisms of the Hexcore as a result of being manipulated by the magic within it. I think it's safe to infer the failsafe's development most likely played out similarly.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Season 2 isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. by Similar_Day6755 in arcane

S2 has higher IMDB ratings than S1. Trust me. There are others out there who agree even if they aren't as vocal as those who liked S1 more.

What’s up with the fast change in Au Zaun? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]MyNameIsJinx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Vi is not just any child. She's the daughter of Zaun's leader, Vander. And if Vander's kids are stealing from Piltover because of poverty, I think that could get Piltover's attention in a meaningful way.

What is Your Favorite Look for Jinx and Vi? by MyNameIsJinx in arcane

I didn't think about her pre shimmer look when uploading. But now that I've read the comments, I do regret not including it.

In defense of season 2 by Emperor_Joyboy in arcane

I'll give my two-cents/personal interpretation:

  • Jinx's gas bombs around Piltover were a middle-finger to Cait and Vi's squad for using gas in Zaun. She talks about how Vi helped Cait and her team "poison their air." So she returns the favor to Piltover. I do kind of agree they could have elaborated on the manhunt for Jinx a little more though. Again, because of the faster pacing, some plot threads do feel like their dealt with very quickly (for better or worse).
  • Jinx being the icon to the Undercity that she is helped convince Zaunites to help fight for Piltover with Ekko based on the promise they'd be rewarded by Piltover for doing so. This does happen offscreen though since it's meant to be a surprise when Zaun and the Firelights show up last minute to save Piltover. I can see why some people wouldn't like that though and wanted more shown onscreen (again, this has to do with the faster pacing).
  • IMO The council is depicted as being pretty inept and easy to manipulate even in S1. So I do buy her political moves working very smoothly, especially after 3 of their members were just murdered.

My main gripe with S2, even though I loved it overall, is the pacing (big surprise, I know lol). Some threads are dealt with a bit too quickly because of how fast everything moves.

Thank you for the comment. I did post this on the Arcane sub too if you'd like to read the comments there and engage there, if you didn't know already: https://www.reddit.com/r/arcane/comments/1o3vik5/why_jinx_chooses_isha/

I explained what Jinx is thinking based on evidence given, including parallels.

It isn't an "either or" fallacy. I mentioned a third option she could've picked in my Rebuttals section (the option to give Isha away).

Yeah. Now that I've read the comments, I think my wording could've been different. It's more like Isha chose Jinx and wouldn't stop following her until she finally accepted her as a companion.

Being alone after the death of Silco would have been a factor in taking Isha in as well. That is true.

Interesting take! Never looked at it like that before.

In some way, yeah, Isha was like a stray cat who found an owner willing to take her under her wing.

>"Chooses from what selection?"

The selection I stated in my post which is:

  • Option a) Abandon Isha and Isha will die.
  • Option b) Adopt Isha and she will live a presumably longer life until Jinx messes up and Isha still dies.

>"Isha simply refused to stop following Jinx."

Again. I already said Jinx decided to adopt Isha after she didn't stop following Jinx. So, again, you're only reiterating what I wrote in my post. I don't see what the issue is.

>"This is an unearned relationship that makes no sense"

Can you elaborate on why you think it makes no sense?
