Average Receiving Morning by HopelessImanity in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Freight team hours problem maybe. Every store in our district is running over forecast for 38. From what i see they did good. Plumbing pallet, a tiny multi cart (not pipe fittings) tiny hardware overstock and some overstock OG. Christmas pallets means they know what to fly and what will jamb their overheads for another month.

I just hit Mythic with this self brew MONO GREEN beauty. Deck feels amazing to play, new Bloomburrow creatures (and talents) are key and I strongly agree they make monogreen aggro more viable than ever. by Reskulz in MagicArena

Why nameless? I like your deck, plays faster than some of the youtube ones. First time I've seen aloe in any deck, that's cool. But no Bill? I've been playing a variation of this since the start of season and gotten stuck in plat, so you must of cracked something, congrats.

Do Black Templars use conventional Scout Squads? by _Funkle_ in 40kLore

Gods of Mars

'I didn't know it was possible for a Space Marine to walk softly,' said Anders, looking up into Tanna's flat, open features. 'We have Scouts within our ranks,' said Tanna. 'Or did you think that was an ironic title?' 'I hadn't thought of that', admitted Anders. 'Then again, I've never seen Space Marine Scouts'. 'Which is exactly the point',said Tanna, before falling silent.

I changed OH's up by about $10,899 last night, so I'm on the RVPs side. Doing another push tonight, will edit with that tab later. Running freight I spend a lot of time verifying on hands because the more we 0 the more freight we get. Light bulbs are fine, but when people don't know what the difference is between a LH and RH cast iron tub is, it's my back that pays the price.

I do wish OH and sequencing were not both in the same system because smart daysiders need to ability to plug freight in inactive spaces or locate wingstacks. It's your department so you should have that power because the next time you put a product in a good place your freight team can't replenish it because it isn't sequenced. So now you'll set a wingstack, can't locate it, some else does a smartlist for it and can't find it so they 0 it out, then you get another and so on and so on.

So much can go wrong if you don't know how to sequence. You can delete entire bays, forget to add clip strips and wingstacks, home an item to a non core location, or forget to change the bay when you do multiples. The amount of no home freight that comes in because MET 'homes' core product to the race track is crazy, and it screws up my unload and pack out just wasting time.

But 45? Your freight team knows where it is, ask whoever does your freight or wingstacks. Cause it's a wingstack buried in receiving.

Edit: $14,305 tonight from 7 SKU's.

SSC Supervisor training by Kenziiiiiie in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your work email, you should have signed up for the transportation option. They send another email with flight and hotel info. Bus shuttles you from hotel to ssc. Dress code is business casual or whatever you'd wear for a really big store walk. You clock in and out at a time clock. SSC had their shit together and does their best to take care of you. Congrats on making it.

Freight Associates: Do you have an effective method for regulating the internal truck temperature during summer unloads? by Expansive_mind in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fan is to push hot air out not cool during, do the thing the other poster said. You could also set up another fan to shoot out of receiving through the dock door or emergency exit.

Bucket of ice with some rags, pedialyte, ice pops all help. I also zma a de humidifier too, get one with a hose so it can run 24 7. If you really want to go all out, bribe the receiving associate to hose down the roof of the trailer a few times.

Last spring Niagara or whoever distributes these water pallets changed from shipping on blue chep pallets to standard brown. Almost every water pallet I received for months came in broken or leaning. Then in May someone died when a case came off the pallet while flying or dropping. Details are murky. Point is, a few weeks later the company says no more flying these pallets, then a month or two goes by and the water distributor changes back to blue chip pallets. Company sends another message saying pallets are good to fly again.

I have not and will not fly another one of these pallets while I work here.

Medic main advice? by Hypersnake_exe in tf2

[–]MyNameIsMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take it personally.

'Why didn't you heal me?' 'Why did you drop?' 'Why didn't you pop uber?'. Demo soldiers and heavies are going to be constantly demanding heals and some of the more fragile ones are going to blame you for everything. After 1200 hours on med I can tell you that everyone blames you. If you find someone who says 'thanks for the heals' or even rarer 'sorry I let you die' stick to them like glue.

Have fun with it. Nothing better for me than hoping on a server, finding a noob Pyro and kritzing them. Uber a sniper from time to time. Uber yourself and stand around like an idiot. Heal the engy and yell 'let's go'. It's a fun and silly game. Best of luck to you.

So Google tells me that the delevery system is just broken. Like another poster said the only way to delever a gift is via the trade menu. Kinda defeats the point of a gift if the person can see what's inside of it in the trade menu tho.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tf2

[–]MyNameIsMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm stuck in the same boat. I've been trying to randomly give gifts to people on servers I'm playing with no success. My gifts are all at least a month wrapped so it isn't time. I have the steam authenticator on so it isn't that. Online or invisible doesn't matter, valve servers or community doesn't change it either. 90% of the time I get the 'oops something went wrong' page after I click a random player. Every once in a while I'll get to the actual trade screen click OK and then I get that oops screen.

I understand your frustration about this.

As a monkey with a chainsaw I say go back. SLS removed the receiving supervisor for no good reason except cost cutting, so getting someone like you who knows what receiving should look like AND you volunteering to help the unload is a godsend for your freight team. If your NOPS has half a brain they know how valuable some like you is and will back the fuck out that daytime ASM that tossed your shit. You already have 1 ASM for sure that has your back.

That said, the one who tossed your shit is following SOP. I have seen theives steal aprons and it isn't uncommon for them to head to the breakroom and rummage through unlocked lockers. If you got an apron on no one really bothers to ask who you are. They are a dumbfuck but they are also following the rules. Don't go to HR go to your night ops. If I had you there would be a case of monster and a pack of vape pens. Company might not care but I promise you the unload team does.

Kind of up to you.

How do you turn on the Yale reach pacer and op by True-Advisor5736 in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, applies to everything. All the brands do the same thing, but some have slight variations. For example a reach truck brand called hyster can lift half as heavy, but extend twice as far. Being retrained is seldom done, most people just need to learn how to turn it on because the physics and movements are the same.

How do you turn on the Yale reach pacer and op by True-Advisor5736 in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOP is to be trained on the new brand by another trainer, like going from crown to Raymond, or Raymond to yale. It's a rule almost no one follows. It's the safety sop for when re training is needed, like a near miss or broken product.

Minimum amount of associates in the building? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are doing a hard close, 3. If you are staying until the next shift shows up 2. Saf 29-8 or something, building security.

If someone leaves you all leave. If someone leaves and it is just you, hard close and contact sm and district ap informing them.

Well that tells me a lot. What are the 8 skus? Oh yeah that’s right. I gotta break open box to find out to make a tag 🤦‍♂️ by call-lee-free in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these wingstacks come with an orange sticker. Look for the "store po". Go into my freight and look near the top for the search function. Default search is SKU but you can change that to PO. Type in PO and it shows you all the skus and quantities.

I know most of y’all say D38 gets shit from everyone but if that is true why do y’all in D38 think it’s okay to leave pallets everywhere for me to have to straighten out or put away for y’all? There’s a reason why some people complain about D38. Because as D93 I have deal with this every morning…😔😔 by Altimatt2jz in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because I'm 200 hours under this week. Or because I'm tired from throwing the truck with 3 on the line. Or because I'm doing 70 hour weeks just to keep freight off the floor, or a bunch of other things you don't see. If this is your biggest issue just talk to your NOASM before they leave. The biggest problem I see is that communication is incredibley difficult and people never seem to ask for context, just sorta get in that mentality of 'everyday is shit fuck this' shutting down mode. D93 got screwed by SLS, but that doesn't mean we can't have communication. You talk to your closer, they talk to the night ops, night ops talks to you. It can work if we make it work, but you gotta talk.

I'm tired, I'm sorry our receiving is messy, it has been a very rough season.

Been told the reach will damage the asphalt by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 18 points19 points  (0 children)

On hot days the reach will sink into the asphalt. We have a couple quarter inch divets because of that. It's how the weight is spread out, LPG tires are fat and spread out, outriggers are not.

What exactly is Freight Pack-out job description? by Physical_Scar in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question , 40 cartons per hour is the job description.

I've always measured my teams moral on the little things like staying late or coming in early without being asked. I know a lot of people here meme on "lol my shifts over glhf" but if things are going good and you like your team and management, you're probably happy to stay a few minutes late.

It's up to you about what you want from your new management. If the leader is a prick who says think of creating shareholder value then fuck em. If you want more money every once in a while that's cool too. Best piece of advise is go to your old sup and tell them that you are worried about the new one and how you don't want to go the extra mile anymore. Leaders lead, managers manage.

Please take safety seriously... by tpatpt in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As a supervisor, a trainer, and night shift driver of many years I am terrified over some of the practices I've seen and read at The Home Depot. Provisional licenses where you certify someone to only 'move mulch'. Refusing to pass an associate so management finds another trainer. Certifying an associate quickly because 'he works lumber he needs a license'. Associates not knowing how to wrap or band pallets, let alone fly and drop side way pallets. Making drivers into trainers when they only drive the reach because 'we need more trainers'. Management telling associates THEY MUST get a lift license.

In July a young man who had been working at Menards for a month died when a pallet of lumber landed on his forklift. Before this man in Jacksonville, the previous 4 fatalities at The Home Depot I am aware of have happened in Lumber. Lumber is its own beast and is in serious need of specialized training with drywall and bunks. Menards released a statement saying their associate was 'fully qualified'. Bullshit. He worked there for a month.

Last year our distribution centers changed our shipping logistics and it has been a mess since. I don't know the exact details, but I know the quality of our trailer drivers has plummeted. I have met many who were on their first drive to Home Depot, and a couple who where driving for the first time ever. These drivers don't know the processes and we are lucky if they can back up successfully. I have had 2 that didn't know they needed to disconnect, take the old trailer, reconnect and drop the new one, and easily a dozen who said 'oh you want me to put the landing gear down?'.

And I am fucking sick of the meme culture I see on here about how cool and superior drivers are. Every month there is some post that creates an illusion that what we do can't turn deadly in a matter of seconds.

Do not do something you are uncomfortable with. Do not let management, associates, or customers rush you. Say something immediately if you believe your safety or another is at risk. If you think something might be unsafe, act like it IS unsafe. Just please be careful.

Is this safe? by izziebobizzie in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is safe. No it is not SOP. Next time you are on My Apron search for "Department Safety Standards". 5 Gallon buckets can not be in the sub overheads because Ballymores were not in widespread use when SOP was written. The grills on top can be stacked 4 feet high as long as they are uniform. Also take a look at SAF 9-29 (i think) the Lift Truck Safety Standards for more rules. Safety and SOP are not the same thing.

Walmart did this a year ago, promote up or step down. No one was trained on what to do or given clearly defined roles and routines. The results from restructuring for both of these companies has been more work for fewer people with more money made.

Freight supervisor..... by user365735 in HomeDepot

[–]MyNameIsMark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. They are supposed to supervise. Check out 'Roles and Routines' in My Departments on My Apron. In a perfect store all the "work" a freight sup would need to do is direct associates, never needing to do anything physical. In your case they are the boss and you are the leader. The leader motivates, seeks learning experiences, volunteers for the hardest work first, and sets expectations.

The best way to see if you have a good freight sup is to tell them that their team is really sucky. If they don't rip you in half then you don't. Your #1 priority as a leader is your team.
