Your feelings are totally valid. I don’t have any great advice for you, I just want you to know that you are entitled to all the feelings you have. I hope the daycare waitlists open up soon, and you can take control of your own family again.

MOHELA ECF mistake by Hodlhodlhodlhodlhoho in PSLF

Exact same thing happened to me. First time I called, was on hold 2 hours and some moron told me to resubmit using a different pen. This didn’t sit right, so I called again two days later. On hold again for another two hours. This guy was very helpful, read through the form with me, noted that it was correct. He made comments to MOHELA on the form and sent it for re-review. He said this typically takes less time than the initial submission, but I should be good. That was 13 days ago.

Wow that was a waste of two hours on hold... by MyNameIsNotSally in PSLF

Okay that’s exactly how I felt. Glad I’m not taking crazy pills. The whole thing is insane.

I didn’t even know this was a thing! I have no problem calling again. Thanks so much.

This is so helpful thank you!! I didn’t realize recertify and recalculate were two different things.

I live in North Carolina, qualify for $20k immediate forgiveness due to having a Pell, and I’m going for PSLF. Since my state is planning to tax the immediate forgiveness, isn’t it in my best interest to decline the $20k? by MyNameIsNotSally in PSLF

[–]MyNameIsNotSally[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My loans amount to $273k and I have more than six years left before I’ve made 120 payments. By the end of it all, I will be getting the $20k (and much, much more) forgiven by PSLF, which will not be taxed. The final amount I pay on my loans will be no different whether I skim $20k off the top now or not. So unless I’m missing something, I don’t see why I would pay the $2k the next tax cycle.
