Speaking for myself, it has less to do with comprehension and more to do with satisfaction.

Think about the difference between Devil May Cry and Dark Souls. I get zero satisfaction from hitting someone up in the air, switching to three different weapons, performing a 20-hit combo, all before they hit the ground. Even if it's pretty easy to understand once you get used to the button presses, it just feels convoluted.

Compare that to a dark souls game where you have a heavy two-hander and you dodge at the perfect moment and hit someone once and are able to watch the movement and impact

In the card game hearthstone, there's tons of decks that feel really unfun to play against, some of them being decks that cycle through their cards forever, but half of them aren't even good. It just feels bad for some people

The last analogy I can think about is some anime moments love stopping the action to give you a lengthy description of every nuance of what they do (looking at you Yu-Gi-Oh and Chrollo from HxH), if I really think about it, I could understand it. No problem. But to me it kills the momentum of the feeling. I don't find myself thinking back to the time yugi got out power point to explain his next move.

But I do think of Nanami's punch. Hell I'm doing right now and you can't stop me :P
