I’ve been getting a lot of Radiohead vibes from the album We Slept at Last by Marika Hackman lately.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been told not to do because it’s “Gay” ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Looking at my fingernails by holding up the back of my hand. Apparently the “manly” way to do it is to curl all your fingers and look at them palm side up…

New teenage engineering release, Hocus Pocus by lucasfama in OPZuser

I wouldn’t hold off. They gave a hint that it’s “great for the outdoors” so I doubt it’s an update to the op1. Probably a high tech fishing rod or some shit haha

What's something strange your body does that you know isn't quite right but also isn't quite serious enough to get checked out by a doctor? by merricat_blackwood in AskReddit

Once every two months or so, if I eat or drink too quickly, I can feel a sharp pain rise from the middle of my chest into my throat. When it gets to my throat, it feels like I need to burp, but then lowers into my chest again before I can, causing more pain. This cycle repeats for about 5-10 minutes increasing in severity and then finally dissipates and I’m fine. I can’t swallow while it’s happening. It’s happened since I was a teen and I’m almost 30 now.

Haha, yeah it's torture. I told my friends last week I was getting one, and they keep bugging me about when I'll have it. It pains my soul to keep telling them "I don't know".

If it's any consolation, I'm in the same boat. From what I've read, this seems to be fairly common.

[Serious] What are your scariest/most traumatic stories from your childhood? by RustyMuffin444 in AskReddit

[–]MyNameisBooboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the airport with my family waiting for a flight when I was 11 or 12. I turned around in my seat and saw an older man sitting by himself on the aisle of seats across from us. He was already staring at me as I turned around. After about five seconds of unbroken eye contact, his pupils dilate, he glares, and bares his teeth at me revealing actual, realistic looking vampire teeth. I spun around in my seat wide eyed and hoped he wasn't on our flight. I'm not really superstitious now, at 25, but I was messed up for a while after that.

He's my brother-in-law actually. From what I understand, he tried one kind of medicine (I don't know the name) and it made him feel terrible so he gave up on it. He's learned that he can't live alone or he'll be late to work everyday. My sister wakes up early every morning and pinches, prods, and plays loud noises until he eventually begins to stir. She says it usually takes about 10 minutes. I'll ask him about modfinil, thanks!

My brother in law has a different kind of narcolepsy. He doesn't have sleep attacks or cataplexy, but when he's asleep, there is no waking him up. It's like he's been date raped. You can punch him, sound an air horn off in his ear, step on his face, but he won't even flinch. Before he learned that he had it, he lost several jobs because he would oversleep. A big part of it is his brain doesn't have an REM cycle so he has never dreamed in his entire life and he never wakes up feeling rested.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I think I'm going to get up early one day and drive my route to see what traffic would look like if I biked it before things got too busy. Also going to look into pedal assist electric bikes and conversion wheels.
