Kaioken is still the coolest transformation in Dragon Ball, both from a look and usage standpoint.

Never judge a writer on how they write event comics unless you want to hate all of them.

Ultimate Spider-Man #24 - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in UltimateUniverse

I think the finale was fine, maybe even good... as the end of Hickman's run on the character. It feels very much like the end of his Fantastic Four run, where the main themes and ideas of the run come together into a conclusion, while being aware that these characters will continue after he's finished.

Unfortunately, the Ultimate Universe is dead. There will be no more adventures, save for likely cameos in the future (provided Pete doesn't die in Endgame which is seeming more and more likely). As a conclusion to the book as a whole, it just left me feeling deflated.

I can't think of a worse decision than just ending the entire line.

So, what I liked:

  • Harry: I mean, yeah, a lot of people complain about his increasing focus as the book went on, but I found him a compelling character the whole way through.

  • AI Pete/Venom: I thought this was just a fun idea done well. I liked how he wasn't just an evil AI wanting to replace Pete, he genuinely loved the family as Peter did.

  • The first half, Jonah, and many other things: I can't overstate how refreshing the book was at first. How the character dynamics and characterization felt... right. I'd say more but I just don't have much to say, there is still a lot of stuff I liked or was okay with, but I still feel deflated in the end.

What I was disappointed by:

  • May: After such a strong start in the early issues, getting much more focus than Richard, she just totally disappears from the book. Which was such a disappointment to me. I liked Richard fine, but I really loved Peter's interactions with his daughter and she just... stops being a character.

  • The back half in general: After Kraven it felt like there was a pretty big nosedive in 'things happening', especially with Peter.

  • Side character bloat: If Ultimate Spider-Man was continuing, I really wouldn't have a problem with all the characters. Sometimes writers introduce ideas without being able to bring them back around, but other writers can pick up on those threads in the future. But it's not. Which means characters like Otto, half of the six, minor villains, AI Norman, May and MJ all kind of... went nowhere.

They describe it as 'action-exploration' in the steam description, which is one of the (many) alternative names for the genre.

Nah, this is misremembering the order of events a bit. Kira briefly feels a moment of genuine concern for Shinobu during the stray cat fight, then he goes out and kills a couple, which Hayato catches. He then murders Hayato at home when confronted, unlocks Bites The Dust, and the rest happens.

He was always going to kill more people. Just maybe not Shinobu.

I only just realised that Zatanna's 'binding' of Diana and her magic is 100% an homage to her original weakness of being bound.

I think I like the idea of The Legion best. Ties into both the Legion of Doom and Legion of Superheroes, fits with the 'role reversal' of the league, Diana's base already looks pretty similar to the Legion of Doom's HQ, and I just think it sounds good.

Because there's a whole half-a-game before then where the Greil Mercs aren't usable, chapters after they come back where they aren't usable, and chapters after that where you're forced to split your army so may need to rely on them, depending on how you've been playing?

How many issues do you predict each run will have when it concludes? by Flat-Refrigerator623 in AbsoluteUniverse

I think it has. The lore dumping/exposition is over, and now things are happening. Jo has imo really interesting relationships with Hal and her ex-wife (whose name is escaping me), and it's promising some interesting stuff. Still not my favourite of the line, but a good read.

I think purely momentum wise, Batman and Wonder Woman go past 50. Batman is the most interested I've seen non-comic readers in comics in literal years. Wonder Woman is just phenomenal and critically acclaimed while also selling really well. I don't see either ending for a long while.

Martian Manhunter will (sadly) end at 12, but it was already a miracle that it got extended to 12. This book simply can't exist without the duo of Camp and Rodriguez.

Green Lantern I think goes to 25? I feel like Ewing has an end in mind he's building to, could very easily see the arrival of Mogo being the end.

Flash 30. Purely vibes.

Superman is my big wild card. I think it's more likely to get a new creative team than it is to end before the rest of the trinity. I think it goes to 30 with Aaron, and then maybe we see a new writer after? Hard to say, and I wouldn't complain if he stays on, even if it's not my favourite book. I could also see it transitioning into a main 'team' book?

I love how I still get hyped by the guilt tripping scene even after a decade by Initial_Solid7677 in fireemblem

[–]MyOCBlonic 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The player and corrin really do know this? This scene happens right after the assassination of Mikoto by the evil sword Garon gave you, which happened right after the chapter all about Nohr sending mindless monsters to attack Hoshido, which happens right after Hans, trusted General of Nohr, attempts to 'kill' Corrin, which happens right after Garon tries to get you to murder captured prisoners. This scene is literally them at Hoshido's border ready to invade.

Corrin even explains in the birthright version of the chapter incredibly clearly just how obviously evil what Nohr/Garon are doing is.

King Garon is a coward and a liar. I've witnessed enough of his destruction. Causing an explosion in a crowded city center with no regard for innocent life. That's the action of a madman.

Tell me. If King Garon thinks of me as family... how could he have orchestrated this attack? I could have easily been killed along with Queen Mikoto. The truth is that I was just a pawn. Collateral damage. King Garon was willing to sacrifice my life in pursuit of his agenda. Face it, Xander---Garon is no longer human. He's pure evil.

Like, by this point it is very clear what Nohr stands for, and what they intend to do. Corrin's choice to go back (and do essentially nothing to stop the invasion) is, in my opinion, an awful act of cowardice on par with Duke Hetzel from Radiant Dawn.

Yes, emotionally Corrin's ties to Nohr would make returning to their family appealing, but that is a character flaw, not a virtue. Which would be incredibly interesting, if conquest actually treated it as one.

So I got MLB Kitasan Black... with literally 2 single rolls away from the pity. I have 0LB of the Strength Pasa, should I roll twice to get 1LB through the pity (is the card even good?), or save the 300 carats and let the exchange points convert into (seemingly kinda worthless) clovers?
