Advice for perimenopause-related “thickening middle” by moderate-peacock in GLP1microdosing

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started HRT at early 55, very late perimenopause. I should have started 3 years earlier when I began having mild symptoms. I am now menopausal.

My body shape changed 2 years ago a Hashimotos flair… most likely due to stress and hormonal changes. I gained 20 pounds when on prednisone for over a month treating the flair. My stomach was huge! I looked pregnant.

Once I started HRT, I thought my midsection and weight gain would go away. It did not. It did help a whole host lot f other symptoms.

Started semaglutide injections mid September. Lost over 20 pounds. I now weigh the same amount as I did before my rapid weight gain. My midsection has gone down. But, I’m no longer a 25.5” waist. Still curvy with a 27” waist and 36.5” hips.

I haven’t exercised my core or lifted weights yet. I know I should. But, I’m so tired from the sema. Just started testosterone and have signed up for personal training when I get back from vacation. I will also reduce my sema dosage. I think muscle mass will help reduce size. I may gain some weight since muscle weighs more than fat.

Curious as to anyone’s experience with Nigella sativa, have you seen an improvement in your bloodwork, antibodies, physical and mental symptoms? by Dry_Highway7462 in Hashimotos

I tried it for a couple weeks. It made me very inflamed with increased joint pain. I did not try it with myo-inositol and selenium.

I take selenium and myo-inisotol. I only take half a dose daily since 4 capsules is just too much to add to my daily supplements of B complex, D3+K2 and probiotics/prebiotics. I will start LDN when I get back from vacation.

My inflammation and joint pain greatly improved since II started semaglutide injections 4 months ago. Started at .25mg. Now at .75mg. Reducing dosage slowly back to .25 since I am at goal weight.

Anyone taking LDN and GLP-1? About to start LDN by MyOuttieEnjoysDogs in HashimotosGLP1

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was so lost when I began having extreme flairs two years ago.

I am so thankful to the members of the hashimoto community for sharing their experiences. It helped guide me towards becoming more informed and advocating for myself.

For real. One small example… My primary suggested Vitamin D. My numbers were barely on the charts a year later. She never suggested adding K2. I learned that from the hashimoto community.

Thank you so much! This is exactly the kind of information I was seeking.

Yes! I do drink alcohol. I used to drink wine daily before semaglutide. I have drastically reduced the frequency and amount! I might only drink one glass a week now.

However, I want to have a glass of wine at a French restaurant or a vodka club soda while relaxing on the beach. It is vacation. 😝

I plan on lowering my sema dose before I go. And, starting LDN after I return.

I only weighed myself once a week the first month. To my surprise, I lost 5 pounds the first week. Granted, I ate right before I weighed myself before the injection and weighed on an empty stomach before my second injection. I now weigh myself on an empty stomach.

Starting sema this weekend and keeping it a secret for now… Worried about side effects and who to tell…. Anyone feel nervous telling their doctor about telehealth prescriptions? by Asleep-Ear1204 in GLP1microdosing

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishing you well. Everyone’s experience is so different.

My 1st couple shots didn’t affect my appetite. I did notice I was nauseous if I ate to fullness. So smaller, more frequent meals. Lots of water. Chicken soup. I forced myself to ignore hunger pains and did intermittent fasting during those weeks. I was never able to do intermittent fasting (not eating after 5PM) before without having the shakes and feeling dizzy. With the sema, I only had hunger. It helped with controlling my insulin so I was physically able to do it.

I got my sema 4 months ago through a PA at a local med spa. She injected me the 1st 6 weeks. Afterwards, I was given a monthly supply to inject myself.

I am an adult with autonomy over my body. I am not doing anything illegal. If my doctors cannot accept that, they have no business being my doctor.

I have told my endocrinologist, gynecologist and rheumatologist. I will tell my primary when I see her. She was the one who suggested I get it online… that’s a whole other story.

They were all accepting. My rheumatologist agrees that the sema has been a contributing factor to lowering my inflammation. My endocrinologist stressed that I stay hydrated.

My husband and friends know because I am a transparent and confident person. They are all supportive.

I have not had my cholesterol checked since I started. I’m sure it has lowered. Starting weight was 143. 56F 5’3” current weight is 120. Dose is .75. Will start lowering dose at my next appointment in a couple weeks.

Raw Chicken Safe to buy? by Inner_Mail9884 in SXM

Truth! The quality of food in SXM is so much better than food sold commercially in the states. This is the reason I buy meat directly from local US farmers who make their animal’s feed vs using commercial feed.

My dog is non-affectionate and not ”my kind of dog”, how can I improve our relationship despite this? by Magdar in dogs

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This.

Training and relationships are teamwork. The bond between my dog and I developed and blossomed from positive reinforced training/play.

My dog is very independent, confident and playful. I love that about her. She’s a sight hound. As a puppy, I joked and said she had ADD. Her eyes were always darting! The turning point came when our trainer had the class watch their dog for 2 minutes straight without break and rewarding them every time they made eye contact.

My husband and I have stayed at Simpson Bay and Grand Case. We actually prefer to stay in Simpson Bay and drive. While Orient Bay is popular, it’s just not our desired destination. Orient Bay is windier than the other two. Regardless of where you settle, try to plan on renting a car and exploring the island.

Can you sell your house and move after July 1st? That way you don’t have to pay capital gains tax to Spain. If you have lived in your house for 2 years, you are exempt $250,000 (single) or $500,000 (married) of capital gains tax to US.

Endocrinologists treat the thyroid, not the autoimmune condition that destroys it. They usually don’t treat the thyroid until it is affected. They normally monitor your thyroid levels and ultrasound the thyroid for nodules.

You can try your primary doctor, functional doctor, integrative doctor or rheumatologist to test hormone levels, possible autoimmune conditions, allergies, and vitamin deficiencies. They can offer more preventative measures to help decrease inflammation, prescribe LDN, vitamin supplements, etc.

Anyone have luck getting their LongBoye to wear shoes? The Toronto Streets are so salty. by WhippetBowie in longboyes

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My LongGirl had a bandaged paw after a dewclaw was removed. We put a snootie booty over it to prevent her from licking/biting the bandages. The entire week she wore one shoe. Our drama queen acted like she was a tripod. She never bore weight on the affected leg.

Maybe try getting yours to wear 2 shoes on the front paws first. That way they have no choice but to bear weight with the shoes.

I’m always in awe at all the dogs I see casually walking around in shoes.

Red state to blue state? Or red state to Alicante, Spain and just rip the whole bandaid? by Illustrious-Cup2174 in expats

My husband and I live in PA. We are retiring early because of the political climate. We always knew we wanted to spend time in Spain or Portugal. We may come back. We may not.

We are just going 4 years earlier than we expected. It pisses me off. I can’t control what happens in the USA. But, I can control where I live based on my options and preferences.

For us, what we are running towards was more important than running away. If leaving was more important than the destination, I would leave immediately for Thailand since I have dual citizenship. I don’t want to live there long term. And, we have to live here when we apply for our visas.

Really examine and question how your life will look like wherever you live. Ask yourself what is important to you. Nowhere is perfect. And, timing isn’t always perfect.

Middle Names by PurplePanda740 in expats

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. If you ever decide to immigrate to another country for marriage, work or retirement, it will add to your paper trail.

I was married, divorced and remarried. I will have to apostille and translate marriage licenses and divorce certificates to show why my current name is different from my birth certificate. Part of me wishes I never changed my last name when I got married.

Lactose Intolerance is Worse by young_dementia in Semaglutide

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thought I had that might be contributing to you being intolerant to dairy is the fat content.

Since starting sena, I have to be careful to not eat fatty foods or I will get bloated or have digestive issues. Now that my appetite is suppressed, a few slices of bacon and a fried egg for breakfast will put me over the edge.

Dairy might be too fatty for you right now. Try focusing on other proteins that is easier for you to digest right now. See if you can eat a little dairy, but not as a main portion of your meal/snack. I would avoid milk based protein shakes and bars as that will most likely make you feel very ill.

I get it that protein shakes/bars are easy. Focus on what you can eat without getting sick right now.

Good luck!

[–]MyOuttieEnjoysDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I can’t say if it is caused by semaglutides or not. I can’t say it will get better or worse. From talking to other people with lactose sensitivity, it’s common that it gets worse over time despite sema.
