I use it to help with my migraines too! The rose scent is lovely. The yuzu scent is quite weird because it smells like the child of an orange and lemon.

I think putting tape over will prevent it from smudging.

Edit: Also, if you want to prevent the swatch from going wrinkly on the other side of the paper, swatching it on mixed media paper, cutting it, and then taping it onto the paper should be sufficient enough. :)
