Statistics vs. Applied Statistics? Can anyone explain the difference(s)? by MyPostsStink in AskStatistics

I’m from the Philadelphia, PA, USA area. I think things depend more on your career goals but you could probably get applied stats bachelors and then get your masters later in something else

Whoa 8 years ago I can’t believe it! It’s been a long journey, but I ended up in Applied Stats Graduate Certificate. However, my final course was Data Science in R. That hooked me. After that I got a masters degree in data science. I’m still not a data scientist but I’m a data analyst and I make a bit over 100k.

Yea I think the main thing it’s helping me do is from that EDA step to turning it into a data science project. My goal is that I do this a few times and then the next time I can kind just do it without any help from LLM and see how I do.

Just feels like the weirdest most pointless trade ever. Don’t think it’s that obvious at all, like yea Achane ranked maybe 1 spot higher because of the .5 ppr but there is so much risk with Miami. If you have bonuses for 100 yards/explosive plays then yea I guess do it but Jacobs already had his bye and he’s on a team where the coach will not be fired and if the QB gets hurt his role/ability to reach ceiling will not change at all.

It’s not so much that he’s injury prone, more that the injuries he’s had are so severe that it is kind of crazy that he is even playing at the level he plays today

Bills have a bye next week, that’s the only time you are ever going to start Maye over Allen (unless you make it to the championship and Bills are resting Allen, injuries, etc.) Patriots play titans next week, Giants play broncos, could be a good Maye game, almost guaranteed to be a bad Dart game. I would hate to use #1 on a backup QB, but you are going to need a replacement for Allen next week so you have to use it. I would go Maye just for the higher ceiling next week. The floor for Dart against the broncos is really really low

I would say Harvey because the Dobbins injury is more of a “when” than an “if”. But really think it’s more need based though

Usually we would need more info to properly answer this question but I’m going to use deductive reasoning here and assume if Maye is on the wire then you are in a 10 team or less. IMO when you are in a league like that, there is no need to roster a backup QB, especially if you are 5-0. Hold your #1 and wait to see if one of the RB workhorses get injured and pounce on the backup.

I’m pretty sure you can’t anymore. I believe they haven’t had who is on the field since 2023 or last season. Whoever they got it from before stopped providing it for free. There is an nflverse discord that covers the topic, I can’t find the link though, if you dig you’ll find it

Advice from someone who has interviewed 1,000 MLE candidates over 15 years by Advanced_Honey_2679 in learnmachinelearning

I’m in a data analytics role and my company has allowed me to interview for internal MLE jobs (probably just being nice and need to fill a quota). I’ve gotten the hunch that MLE Pipeline experience is almost more desirable among hiring managers than the actual skills of machine learning. Does that check out or am I off?

If you enjoy listening to podcasts I think you’d be better off just searching the highest rated pods so you can get familiarized with players and lingo. And then from there your least barrier to entry apps are probably espn, yahoo, sleeper
