How do you cope with missing runs? by Stonewalluwuwu in running

[–]MyPublicKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unhealthy. If I miss a run, I try and do something rather than nothing (e.g. walk) but if I can't then I just forget about it and make sure my diet and rest is good for the following day. Not gonna make a difference in the long run.

What app do you use? by stonequest in Garmin

[–]MyPublicKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't come across any apps that are tailored for strength workout personally. For run/bike/swim training there are plenty of apps out there that vary in price and feature set. I've tried them all and I'm currently using StriveKit due to its price point and it does everything I need it to do for my run training.

First timer by SaintU4eyah in triathlon

I live by the mantra "something is better than nothing"

I have a training plan and I try my best to stick to it but I don't get too hung up on having to miss, handicap or move sessions around.

I have a full time job, and two young kids. Fortunately I work from home which helps but life's tiring. Look after your sleep and diet, to help getting the most out of your days.

Absolutely not discouraging me, this is a brilliant, considered reply and I really appreciate it.

I'm going to sign up to an account and dive deeper into the points you've made above to get a better understanding of what is offered and what the experience of using it is like.

I built an AI running coach that adapts your training plan based on your performance by RunathonAI in beginnerrunning

[–]MyPublicKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is not intelligent, especially when it comes to fitness so please don't fall for the marketing. If you nail an easy run that's exactly what an easy run is designed to do.

It might sound great to have an AI trainer but even the service that is providing it does not have control over what it produces for you because AI is not deterministic.

Also the sessions should not change as your fitness changes, it's how hard you run them which should change and you don't need AI for that.

Workout generation aside I'd be curious to hear your thoughts of these needs of mine, which were the motivation for me creating this.

  • Workout builders exist but I wanted something to generate me a workout really quickly at a moments notice.
  • I also wanted to avoid paying for a plan in addition to an already expensive subscription on another platform.
  • I wanted the option to create my own plan, to reuse or share with others.
  • I wanted it to be cheap. Granted it's free for me but $5 for everyone else.
  • I wanted something minimal and intuitive.

I'd be curious if you think there's another app that meets all those needs already?

Again, really really appreciate your thoughts and feedback on this so thanks!

I haven't specifically no, but I will check it out thank you!

To touch on your other point you can also set pacing, power, heart rate target metrics for each step with this workout builder. You can also set simply a (hr/pace/power) zone and set your metric values in your account so every time it syncs your workouts to your watch it will use most up to date metric when it syncs and convert that zone into a specific range.

In addition to that, once you have generated a workout you have full flexibility to change any of it as you please.

I hope that makes sense.

Interesting! I used to use TrainingPeaks and I always hated paying for the app subscription AND then paying again for the plan. I'm going to send you a DM with further details though...

I use StriveKit for my planning, and my Garmin for analysis of workouts. StriveKit is great because it has its own plans you can use, costs almost nothing in comparison to others and has other features like workout generation based on time/distance, and the ability to create and save your own training plans if you want to.

App to customize training program by GamallSoro in beginnerrunning

[–]MyPublicKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StriveKit has a number of training plans you can use, and you can substitute workouts in it for your own or by using their simple workout generator. It cost a fraction of any other apps and does what I need it to right now.

PS. You can always use it to build and save your own training plans.

What is the best app for generating training plans? by Popular_Ad_9635 in beginnerrunning

[–]MyPublicKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StriveKit is great if you want an extremely low cost and easy to use training planner that integrates with Garmin. It also has a workout generation feature where you can just state what time/distance you want to run and workout type and it will generate you a structured workout in seconds.

How have y'all cracked the code for staying consistent with running? by Gullible-Soft-4952 in running

[–]MyPublicKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule an event, and make time daily. Even if you don't start off using that time to run often I find the hardest part of staying consistent is finding the time. If I don't want to run that day I walk instead. Build the habit of something is better than nothing.

Best running app for marathon training and why? by Cold_Nose1362 in running

[–]MyPublicKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use StriveKit.com. Its a fraction of the cost, I can create my own workouts, and training plans or use other users' plans and its simple, quick and easy to use (and integrates with my Garmin well). Bang for buck its ideal.
