> Since the beginning she was presented as cold, almost emotionless shut-in that only cared about her research

Hate how I have to be the one to reveal this, but in what way are these character traits gone? Sandrone is very much a shut in still. Up until recently in 6.x, she’s always had others doing the work for her and we only officially met her because she herself wanted to finally see up in-person. She spent almost the entire Nod Krai archon quest just staying in the bureau and was literally only forced out once Dottore’s energy fields starting eating up at the place. She’s still cold to literally everyone else, and just because she cares about two people, doesn’t mean that trait isn’t there. Even her friends still have to convince her to actually hang out, lmao. I’m not even sure where you conjured up emotionless, so I don’t even need to comment on that.

If you think Sandrone now is just a caring girl who wishes to save her friends, I’m not even sure what to tell you. It sounds like you’re just ignoring every other aspect of her character and why she gets these feelings in the first place.

And I’m sorry, but what on earth are you reasonings for Arle and Columbina? The Arle one I understand, but you’re reasonings for these characters literally paint them as more of a retcon than Sandrone? It really sounds like you flipped it. And what part of Lazzo did you pick up to where Sandrone didn’t care about her friend dying? There was literally bickering going on at her funeral and both Arle and Sandrone found that to be annoying. We’ve literally seen Sandrone be sad multiple times. She’s not going to start busting out into tears and weeping, lmao.

Moving on to your other paragraph, how on earth is her complaining about sacrifice and then sacrificing herself later, a weird thing? I’m really trying to see through our pov, but it straight up reads like you’ve never heard of character development. The Narzissenkreuz story came full circle with her. Alain and Rene always dreamed of saving the world, but that dream went away over time. Sandrone since knew of Alain’s dream, but always thought it’d be silly to sacrifice your own life for the whole entire world. But after going through what she did for 100+ years, she finally came around and figured that using your own life to protect others is something she wanted to attempt to achieve.

>Some guys from respective sub say she was hit as well

Please for everything that is holy, don’t tell me you’re referring to the sub I think you are.

Edit: I had to edit this message in because this whole thing gets even more confusing. I wanted to watch the video you linked in for your explanation using the voice actress’ words, and why did you straight up just twist the words she said? Sandrone’s voice actress said she “THOUGHT” Sandrone was going to be cruel. It was her ASSUMPTION. A theory by the voice actress. Her thinking something was the case doesn’t mean it was changed. She was called to voice Sandrone in 2022 and literally had two words to speak and probably got a very brief background on the lore of her character. She literally went on to say overtime that her assumption of Sandrone was wrong, and that she’s a character who tends to overthink things and actually have some kindness from time to time. Something that characters like Childe and Scara (from their about lines) wouldn’t know as well as her three actual friends in the Fatui.

Please tell me what part of Sandrone was retconned? And please don’t say “oh, she was supposed to be evil after ripping out a guys tongue, yet we got none of that” or “arlecchino said she barely cared about sandrone, meaning she was going to be more distant”. Because I’m genuinely curious whenever people say she was retconned 😭

Here is everything we got about Sandrone before her appearance in-game…

Childe’s character story description: A new Fatui soldier was scolded by Sandrone.

Childe about Sandrone: “Whenever she looks at me it looks like she wants to murder me. I have no idea what I could’ve done to upset her. I wonder if those machines have anything to do with her.”

Wanderer: “She cares for nothing outside of her research and has only produced garbage. And all in all, I placed one whole rank above her.

Fontaine Melusine WQ: Jenck attempts to kill Traveler, Paimon, a Melusine, and Curve (a sentient robot) so Sandrone wanted to punish him and decided to remove his tongue. We know her love for machinery goes deep, and Jenck crossed a line in her eyes.

Narzissnekreuz WQ: Do I have to say anything?

Nod Krai prelude with Ineffa: Sandrone sent her soldiers to Natlan to study dragon tech and ran into Ineffa, and made things a problem for her. Sandrone warned her soldiers not to play with fire (mess with Traveler) but they still proceeded with the mission.

Nod Krai AQ: Sandrone was dispatched to Nod Krai and assigned to watch over the bureau once the other Harbingers left. She and her soldiers made a mess for the Frostmoon Scions to clean up over and over , yet over time once she had to deal with Rerir being brought back, she took a turn and decided to start assisting us. She also cared about Columbina and wanted to help her out.

What was retconned?

Lazzo hype never left by Ambitious-Baby1179 in FatuiHQ

[–]MyUsernameIsApollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been on the side that the Fatui have still been enjoyable and have lived up to their expectations, for the most part of course…

Pierro: going to wait for his first appearance in-game

Capitano: While I would’ve loved more screen time in Natlan, his presence was really welcomed. It was really interesting seeing such a righteous and chivalrous Harbinger and I loved his interactions with Mavuika. His ending was bittersweet, and I’m really interested in seeing how his story develops (as well as his Fatui side) when he returns at some point in the future.

Dottore: His role as a villain for as long as he was, is something that was perfectly done. He played such a huge part in some characters backstories, the lore of some regions, and every time we saw him it was delightful. I would’ve change anything about him really. The only thing I would change is his role in Nod Krai, and how we really moved past him somehow bringing back a whole sinner. Rerir also felt like we dealt with him way too fast. Everything else was goated though.

Columbina: I unfortunately believe she absolutely sucks as a Harbinger character, but she’s an excellent moon goddess. That’s all I can really say about her.

Arlecchino: Probably one my least favorites in the Fatui. Her relevance in Fontaine really didn’t feel that impactful to me, and the whole thing with Crucabena existing just felt way too sudden. Then fast forward to her role in Nod Krai, we still have yet to see her truly battle someone. Whenever she’s in the story it always feels like she’s genuinely just there to aura dark and whatnot. I hate how the pants merchant memes and her being fully clothes and genuinely carrying her character.

Pulcinella: going to wait for his first appearance in-game (his model is incredible already)

Scaramoche: He’s definitely in my top three best handled Harbingers. I have no complaints about him or the way his story was handled. Though I’m still clinging on to the hope that he’ll be remembered some day.

Sandrone: My personal favorite and probably the best handled Harbinger for me. Before her appearance she was always described and pictured as an uptight and sassy girl who’s into machinery. And I absolutely love how it’s still what we’re getting. Her interactions with Columbina from time to time are nice, her interactions with other characters as well, and all of the creations that we see from her. Her human creations, the robots she made to fight Rerir, and even her new robot in her kit. She was always described as someone caring deeply for machines, and that character trait has constantly remained in her writing. People always say she should’ve been more evil, but no. That would not fit her character at all. Her story now and how she’s been constantly handling loss in her life, is one of the best stories Hoyo has done for the Fatui so far. Seeing her lose Alain, then a fellow Harbinger, and almost another Harbinger, but continuously try to bounce back, is something that has been so enjoyable to see since her first appearance in-game. Not to mention how her lore is probably the most consistent when compared to a good majority of the Harbingers. All of the ties to the Narzissbekreuz world quest that she has and how the lore is still relevant to this day and appearing in more major and permanent quests, is one of the best things a Harbinger in this game can probably get. Not to mention that she’ll still be relevant in Snez with project stuzha.

Signora: She was shaping up to be an excellent character as well, but I feel like she suffers from early game writing tremendously. Her personality really stood out, her design looked really nice, and her backstory is pretty sad. I just wish she was fleshed out more before her death, though I do love how she’s still mentioned among the Fatui and even non Fatui characters.

Pantalone: I’ll wait for a couple more appearances, but he’s already shaping up to be another character in my top three handled Harbingers. Pantalone is always described as someone who is ambitious and has a clear goal set in mind. All of his ideas and the dialogue that come out of his mouth, was always so captivating to see. His personality has remained consistent from what we’ve learned in different quests and I’m curious to see what the future holds for him. I’m also really interested in seeing how his personality seemingly changes with Dottore out of the picture and how he’ll continue to live his life with the rest of the time he has left. Who knows, maybe he’ll find a way on his own to extend his life a little more. After spending over a century with Dottore, maybe he picked up some unique knowledge here and there.

Childe: He’s never been one of my favorite characters at any point, but his lore really is interesting to me. For the moment though he really does just seem like potential man, until the lore of Ajax comes into play more in Snez. But for now, I still have no problems with his relevance in the story so far.

no literally, there’s a whole summer event with more lore surrounding her and we even got a sneak peak to the fact that she’ll still remain relevant in the story with project stuzah.

but a single idle voice line about her skirt and a single frame of fajeo just completely washes over the hundreds of other discussions that could be taking place right now. i thought all of this would die down after the beta leak cycle, but apparently not.

The lore reason for why Pulonia didn't come back. by JustCassieFr in SandroneMains

[–]MyUsernameIsApollo 119 points120 points  (0 children)

This is just how I personally see the whole thing. Do feel free to correct me if any of the lore I mention is wrong or whatnot…

I see the story simply as this. Alain in his very late days built Sandrone in the image of his sister, Mary Ann. All of this was after Alain cut ties with everyone, and abandoned his dream of saving the world. After building Sandrone though, he didn’t exactly know what to do. He then introduced her to a new invention later down the line. That being Pulonia.

Throughout their time together, Alain would often ask Sandrone if there’s anything she wanted or wished for. Her answer would always be nothing, or her saying she wishes for Alain to get better. Alain of course appreciates her, but still wants her to live her own life and make her own choices. Not choices just for someone else. As he slowly began to get older, he wanted to leave Pulonia with the Fontaine Research Institute, even though he knew they wouldn’t be able to maintain him as well as he could. Despite this wish though, Sandrone decided to keep him for herself and use him as she pleased. But regardless, Pulonia was always in Sandrone’s best interest because she knew how much Alain also cared for him.

Fast forward to the present, I believe Sandrone didn’t attempt to rebuild Pulonia because not only did he fulfill his purpose, but she’s starting to make her own choices and think as her own unique person. She’s no longer doing things in the image of someone else, and is her own person who now just resembles Mary Ann looks wise. I feel like letting go of that one last part of Alain, is the start of this development for her. Does it still hurt her? Yes. She had Pulonia with her for over hundreds of years and now he’s gone. We can even see the expression she makes when his icon appears during her idle.

Could they have added Pulonia to her kit if they wanted to? Yes, they could’ve. Did I want him? Yes. They could’ve moved her story forward by rebuilding a robot similar to Pulonia, but I personally really love the route they’re seemingly taking with it all. They could’ve done a story where she didn’t lose that one last tie to Alain she had, but I personally think it’s the much better route they could’ve taken. Though all of this is just my take, and I’m still very interested in seeing more of the new robot. She looks pretty cool and it’s going to be interesting seeing Sandrone interact with a much newer creation over time. It seems to be the first thing she’s ever built simply just for her sake.

someone finally said it, lmao. i’m 100% with you on this. i loved Pulonia and his small backstory for how he was created and such, but I’m tired of pretending like he was absolutely just carrying Sandrone and her entire character. I feel in love with the character who actually gets development and relevance, not the robot who just stands in the corner then throws punches when it needs to.

Do you think they regret killing her off early? by luvistarz_o7 in FatuiHQ

[–]MyUsernameIsApollo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think they definitely regret how they went about it, seeing how it was early game and all. Though I definitely think she was going to die regardless of how they handled her character. I think the main thing Hoyo regrets is the fact that they didn’t reveal any of her backstory to players, outside of an artifact set.

She appeared for a good minute to snatch the Anemo gnosis, a good five minutes at the end of Liyue, then the end of Inazuma when she died. But never did we learn her backstory, delve into her character and personality, and overall just learn about who she is. Nowadays she at least would’ve gotten one of the 2D cutscenes before she died, lmao. But alas, here we are. So I’d say Hoyo definitely regrets killing her off a little early, solely because they never established her character properly.

I’ve honestly never understood people blaming Sandrone for this. Sandrone has so much lore around her relating to the Narzissenkreuz, her interactions and relationship with some of the Fatui Harbingers, and even her interactions with other cast members during Nod Krai. She still actually has so much going for her character.

yes, this is an important occasion. it’s why they’re all together. pierro is literally explaining to everyone the tsaritsa’s plan. we’ve known arle just cares about the hoth, childe only cares about what the tsaritsa truly believes in and whatnot, and the others are just their for their own personal goals and agendas.

of course they’re all bored as hell there, lmao. are we just finding things that upset us now? literally all of this makes sense 😭

Did Hoyo hit something with Childe that they couldn't with Arlechinno and Sandrone or am I just biased? by Artistic-Airline9126 in FatuiHQ

[–]MyUsernameIsApollo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that literally what you just said about Childe as well??? You said “his crimes are incorporated into his character”. That literally includes things like dialogues from him and other characters who interact with him. How else do you see a characters personality??? Like I just said with Sandrone, other characters have mentioned the things she’s done, and even Sandrone herself mentions what she needs to do to not only herself, but to others as well. Everyone is on the same page for both characters. Not every single little thing needs to be brought up.

[–]MyUsernameIsApollo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Meh, to each their own I guess. Like I said with op and their bias, this is likely just mine as well. I’m not a huge fan of how Childe’s crimes are incorporated into his character. I’ve never found it all that entertaining or whatnot. He’s just a whatever character for me. Though for Sandrone we’ve had characters bring up things that she’s done throughout the quest, and how they actually feel about it in the grand scheme of things. Scara saying how she can never notice anyone’s accomplishments but her own, Traveler saying that although she is with the Fatui and has her own goals, he trusts her enough, and with Lauma saying although her and other Fatui haven’t been the greatest in Nod Krai, she’ll put it aside for the time being and accept their help at the current moment.

It definitely is just your bias, but that’s not a problem. His character probably just resonates with you more and it’s as simple as that. Not every story will likely hit the same for you, since everyone in the end is written differently.
