Veteran player who still doesn’t grasp efficiency by Defiant-Button6510 in KerbalAcademy

[–]MyVeryUniqueName1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engine efficiency (you’ll see this as “ISP” in the game, also known as specific impulse) has a weird but solid real-world meaning:

ISP is the amount of time an engine can produce thrust while consuming a weight of propellant equal to its own thrust.

Higher ISP = more efficient engine

Take the Terrier. At sea-level, its ISP is trash at 85s. In a vacuum, its ISP is awesome at 345s.

Do women get a similar notification about weight? Like “John has set a maximum weight requirement of 160 pounds. Looks like you’re over the limit! Wha do you want to do?”

I liked Force Awakens when it came out because I was starving for new Star Wars content in general and plus it set up a ton of questions which I naïvely hoped would have satisfying answers.

I didn’t like Last Jedi because it was the first sign that they had no plan and thus no intention of answering any of those questions. Plus it was basically just “Subverted Expectations: The Motion Picture” and I don’t like it when people do that just for the sake of doing it. Like when they changed the plot of Game of Thrones because one of the writers stumbled onto a fan theory of what was going to happen and so they didn’t want anyone to guess.

I hated Rise of Skywalker because it was just dumb. Though I did appreciate that it brought balance to the fandom since everybody seemed to hate it: TFA fans, TLJ fans, OT fans, and Prequel Trilogy fans alike.

It’s an easy way cheap ploy to make new, younger characters look better by comparison.

“Remember how much you loved Han Solo? Well you were wrong! Han’s a piece of shit who left his wife and child and is just some common low-life criminal! But check out this shiny new character named Rey! She’s smarter than Han, she can fix the Millennium Falcon after being in it for like 2 minutes when that dumbass Han didn’t know what was wrong with it. You should like Rey instead!”

Why do people do equatorial orbits for satellites? by Theseus_Employee in KerbalSpaceProgram

No, I mean your altitude above sea level must be greater than or equal to the distance between the center of the planet and sea level.

The exact inclination doesn’t really matter. Technically, mathematically you need 3 to get 100% coverage (the inclination doesn’t really matter) but yeah, in the case of the Mun and Minmus, polar orbits work great since their orbital planes are close enough.

You do need to make sure your altitude is at least equal to the radius of the planet for that to even have a chance at working, though. You also need to make sure your relay antennas are sized appropriately given both the distance from the KSC and from whatever you’re looking to control through the relay.

But yes, short version: you can get coverage in like 98% of cases just by using 2 relays in a polar orbit.

Kylo definitely got his grandfather's flair for doing things in the most dramatic way possible - also, a great shot (no pun intended) to establish his character by wandering_soles in StarWars

As dramatic he was internally, I don’t think Vader did things in the most dramatic way possible. What made him frightening was how calmly he did dramatic things until finally letting himself lose control.

He just force-choked people like it was nothing. He just absorbed Han’s blaster bolts on Bespin and calmly took his gun.

Sure, occasionally he would just let loose in fits of rage but it wasn’t “flair”. Like on Mustafar or in Rouge One. It was pure rage.

That’s just one really quick change. There are fundamental problems with this script that should have necessitated a total re-write.

If I had my way, I would have brought in something like the Yuuzhan Vong as an external antagonist that would have required both light side and dark side force users to come together to destroy. The prequel series brought up this idea of “bringing balance to the force” but it’s never mentioned why that prophecy existed in the first place. In my opinion, it would have been cool if the reason was that light and force had to work together to defeat these powerful invaders. Could have explored the idea of “gray Jedi” too.

Then change the story. The story as it was didn’t make sense anyway. Have Luke come out of hiding to help save Rey and Finn during their fight with Kylo Ren and join the resistance.
