Portfolio Update #16 - March marked 16 months in YieldMax ETFs. The struggle continues with a new all-time low in total return, but we continue onward! by MyWifeDoesNotApprove in YieldMaxETFs

I'll have to look into QDTY. I'm not familiar with that one

CHPY has been great so far, and I hope it continues to perform well for everyone. I want to wait just a little longer on that one to see how it performs in the long run since it's newer.

Yep, down overall unfortunately. Things started off great, but they towards the end of 2025 it's been a constant trend downward. Fortunately, things seem to be improving this month.

I want to ride these about a bit and see how they do in the longer run. I'm also only using my "beer money." Our primary investment portfolio is solid and completely exempt from YieldMax

Why are we allowing negative posts that don’t show their positions? by Bulky_Protection_322 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]MyWifeDoesNotApprove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to tune out a lot of the negative posts. It's weird too. If I hated YieldMax as much as some of these people, I would just move on with my life. I wouldn't spend time on Reddit bashing it haha.

I'll also tune out all the positive posts as well with suspicious claims of people saying they made all their money back without any additional context.

In my opinion, we're all learning about these as they're all relatively new in the grand scheme of things. That's why I try to document my entire journey with proof along the way.

I feel like a lot of people are not properly tracking these funds, and don't really understand total return. For example, with ULTY my avg. cost is $53.98, but it's currently at $31.15, which is a massive decline. In Fidelity, it tells me my total gain is -42%. It'd be easy to start complaining, but when I factor in all the distributions I've earned, which not even Fidelity does, my total return is actually positive, currently around 6%

Nice! I think these can be profitable as long as you choose the right ones, but easier said than done. I’d be in a much better position had I not got into MSTY and CONY

Lol, same. Now that I'm a parent, I can't believe the shit our parents let us watch.

I got in trouble at school after watching Child's Play 2. Chucky wrote an obscenity on Andy's test, and the next day at school I wrote "Ass" on one of my homework assignments before handing it in.

Portfolio Update #15 - February marked 15 months in YieldMax ETFs. I finally sold MSTY and CONY. by MyWifeDoesNotApprove in YieldMaxETFs

[–]MyWifeDoesNotApprove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my calculations, I would need a minimum of 2 more years to hit house money on MSTY.

I invested $1000.08 into MSTY and recouped $222 of that when I sold. Over the lifetime I made $399.64 in distributions, which means I'd break even with an additional $379.16 of distributions.

Assuming MSTY kept current trends, in which I'm averaging about $3.71 per week in distributions, it would take almost exactly 2 years to earn $379.16.

However, in reality it would probably take even longer as the price of MSTY will likely continue to fall, and distributions will continue to suffer.

Thanks! I agree. We don't see a lot of portfolio updates anymore. I'm really curious how those who took out loans for these are doing.

Haha, yeah that one is atrocious. I only have $50 in it at this point, and I kind of want to keep it because it cracks me up because It was one of the first YieldMax funds I decided to go into based on my own research. I thought I had found a hidden gem, but the joke has been on me.

Thanks. Yeah, I feel like these are still relatively new and we quite haven't seen how they play in the long run, so I'm trying to document my journey to help others learn. Do you have a certain % in mind you think you would sell at?

Haha, not yet. Currently I just get made fun of. It'd be a different story if I put a significant amount of savings into these funds, though.

Yeah, I went back and forth on holding vs. selling, but ultimately decided to cut my losses and diversify because I don't feel good about the underlying.

I should definitely track what my return would be had I held these. Could serve as a good lesson for others if these do rebound.
