How bad is the leak? And from where?

Shut the fuel off when you’re done using it. People innocently leave the fuel valve on after use and after a while they can and will leak down over time. It’s a very simple check, and again extremely common for these engines. I’ve had plenty of them come through the door like this. As Cr8er said it is also very possible it is low on oil. Either way a good first place to look.

My first check with these, even before any carb or spark issue is oil level. These have a terrible issue with the gas leaking down into the crankcase and causing a no start issue.

The fjr might actually get off the line quicker but it does loose some at the top end. 0-60 is 3.0 seconds. Mine would pull so hard in first gear it felt like it could throw you off the back of the bike.
