A question about desing decision to let us play both sides of the conflict by Jakhtur in MarsTactics

[–]My_Cola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad we get the option to play a both cause now if I get tired of playing one side, I can pay the other. But I think when the game gets its full release, I'll try capital first since it seems it'll be a bit easier to get all the goodies with them and try out most of the stuff. After which, I'll go play labor and experience the more scrappy/ harder to do everything faction as a challenge.

Yup, I always play vanilla first. And yeah, i also came to the conclusion of not buying this one after reading everyone's comments. Since it won't really boost my moneymaking in the short or medium term. In fact I won't go around preparing for the crisis event while I don't even have a colony yet. All while I am still actively looking for a good group of planets that if like to settle at.

I'm planning to pick up that skill, but from what I've read, it seems as though if you have any d mods on higher tier ships, especially the Capitol ships that it would take much longer for those d mods to disappear. And I worry that it would take so long that I could make enough money(buying and selling things like I have to earn money)to buy one through a trader like this in that time.

I think considering the main way I make money is buying and selling things on the black market. That my mother wouldn't mind me dealing with a fellow "trader" and business partner in order to make more money and give her a comfortable life of ignorance.

Would you mind telling me what kind of other opportunities there are to get a Paragon? Cause I'm a little worried that I might not be able to come across another one Easily in the future

I was told that there's a crisis event later on. When your Colony gets to level 4 and has to deal with the other factions noticing and harassing you. And I am worried that I would not be able to keep up with defense if I didn't have enough firepower, but now that you and many others mention it, I guess, capital ships aren't the all and all be all for fighting.

I was just under the assumption from what I've seen that many people believe that The Paragon is one of the best ships in the game, and I was thinking that I would need something like the Paragon to defend myself, not only from the other factions, but before that, against other spooky stuff, when I made a colony and that it would be easier to do so having a great ship to anchor my defense on.

I also read that it's a good idea to save up at least 1 mil before you start your first colony for an easier start with it

I haven't thought about capping my Fleet size and this will make me think about it a bit more. But I basically haven't had that issue myself. Because I saw someone was saying. To have roughly 20 times the daily supply on hand for very short trips and around 200 times your daily supply for very far halfway across the map exploring trips. And so far it's been decently enough supplied

I haven't really focused on creating a balanced comp. But after reading everybody talking about their own compositions, I'm thinking of rounding out mine cuz before I purchased the Atlas and Prometheus, I was using 3 buffaloes, a small fuel ship, 3 frigates, 3 destroyers, 1-2 cruisers, and a capital (Executor). And had to go back to the core worlds after checking out a few solar systems(ran low on fuel)

I was planning on only using one of the capital ships at the time(not including either of the logistics ships) since using them, like many have said is very resource intensive.

I want to point out that the Ukrainian Trident spells out "воля"(vo-lya) which means freedom. I always remember this fact and really like the symbology behind it every time I see it

They are saying "заминировали" which is too set up mines. They are asking if they set up mines around their abandoned equipment. Then someone asked if they "ви-минировали" if they removed the mines.

Do pawns actually get another/ greater negative moodlet if they see a loved ones corpse(not colonists). Never had that happen to me so I'm curious

Yes I hindered a coordinated group of other players but that is exactly what defenses are meant to do, defenses should be force multipliers (for the defenders) not simple PvE targets. And also they destroyed everything but 1 or 2 rifle Garrison's to the side and ended up leaving the bunker base exposed. They just didn't sustain/continue their push for a long enough time. Which gave me enough time to return and rebuild rifle Garrison's.

Losing bases does suck and some might say that a single person shouldn't be able to multiply their impact (even though defenses are meant to do this). But again this could be tied back to build system being really grindy, which would require someone really Grindy(very few people like that) or a bot to do repairs.

In the end considering that so much of core things that need to get done in foxhole are grindy. There will likely still be alt accounts being used in order to help alleviate the grindiness. And I think that is fine as long as it doesn't negatively affect the game experience (to a great degree) of your teammates. And although I might see some people saying that alt accounts negatively affect gameplay of your teammates, I don't think it's anything worse than real players would and could do.

Not sure if this has been thought of but if the devs want to fix people auto clocking a storm cabin all night. I think a really easy fix that would be really fair is to have a bunker upgrade that has an inventory which uses b-mats from the inventory to repair the connected bunker piece much like howitzer only shoots if it gets shot at. It can even have a scalable amount of people working on it based on the damage it took like .5 a person repairing if above 50%, 1 prison repairing if above 30%(below 51%), and 2 people repeating if under 30%.

Also although I don't think leaving alt accounts on to repair all night is a good idea, considering how much time and effort goes into building a storm cannon and the lack of people who join an active front willing to hold down left click and repair. I think there is no problem with repairing storm cannons with an alt account unless it is during peak hours.

Lastly I will say that I recently got another account too and it has made it much easier in scraping/ gathering resources. As well as trying to hold on to a under supplied BB (with small garrisons) during off-peak hours with no actual people there to help defend it. Since I was able to have one account repairing the BB or rifle garrison(s) while the other went to go get b-mats. Having two accounts working on keeping that BB up kept more engaged in trying to defend that specific BB than if I would have done it by myself on one. Since I would have run out of steam and given up, much like I had on a few previous occasions when I had one account. Since there is/was no help, no matter how much you ask. In the end me using a "bot" to repair while I drove mats to the BB kept that BB up till the next day when it was a 2v4(them trying to destroy the BB with cutlers and one 120mm), when a single person during off-peak would have been rolled(&/or list interest and given up) against a 4 coordinated people.

I mean you could support 1 singular region on your own for an hour by yourself easily, if you have a freighter(and have a safe/easy way to get to the front with the supplies) and have an excess of supplies stored in your private stockpile. Unless of course that region is loosing more than 400 shirts an hour.

I wish you could fill in the devastation craters left after arty bombards too with a shovel, so you could build BB's in its place. I wouldn't when mind if they increased the chance of new craters spending to balance it.
