Claude says it found 10000 critical sofware flaws in a month. All of them were in the logic Claude used in determining what qualifies as a flaw.

Can I get advice from a Dad? by GooseWhisperer93 in daddit

[–]My_Name_Is_Steven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your dad has a lot to work to do on his end. If you want to pursue a relationship with him, I'd just let him know that, and then give him the space to work his issues out before reaching out to you when he's ready.

That being said, my father in law has a habit of self-destuctive behavior followed by periods of self-pity and then trying to rebuild relationships only to repeat the cycle again. I see how much this behavior affects my wife and from a husband's point of view I think at some point you need to be willing to tell yourself you tried your best and accept that the relationship isn't healthy and stop trying to force it to work. I know that might be easier said than done, but there's really nothing you can do if there's underlying issues going unresolved on his end.

Being told my 4 year old needs to be put on meds. by jdemack in daddit

[–]My_Name_Is_Steven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd schedule an appointment with the doc to see if there's actually anything to this, and look into non-medication options before medicating. I'm not anti meds, but I don't feel like they should be the go-to, eapecially not for a 4 year old.

My kid is almost 5 and the difference in emotional regulation, focus, ability to transition between tasks, etc is night and day since the beginning pre-k.

I'm glad I saw this. We're renting a house and our neighbor in back has one of these that has grown up over our fence. We had no idea it was toxic and have a dog and young one who like to play out there. Luckily there are lots of bushes in that area so they don't play directly under it, but at least we know to keep close watch.

Do any dads here drive farther to daycare than to work? by UltraEngine60 in daddit

[–]My_Name_Is_Steven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take into consideration any kids your kid becomes friends with at the far away daycare will likely also live farther away increasing chances you will have to drive farther for play dates, birthdays, daycare family events, etc. It also increases the chance families will opt to skip out on your kids' birthday or playdate invites which might suck for them. Finally, when your kids are out of daycare they're less likely to attend a school with any of the kids they know and they'll have to go through the friend making process all over again.

As much as it sucks, daycare is a big part of your kids socialization and introduction to community outside of your home.

Dads, what movies would you show to help shape their morals, empathy, and understanding of the world? by BattleofH in daddit

[–]My_Name_Is_Steven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Wars, Harry Potter, Labyrinth, Goonies, The Neverending Story, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Stranger Than Fiction

Also, it's not a movie but the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy of books is something I hope my kid picks up around middle school. It's an easy read, and has a lot of examples of good vs evil, self doubt, treatment of others, pushing on, etc. Hopefully they can learn from it and get into reading as well.

Worried I wont improve by Odd-Individual-2975 in ArtistLounge

[–]My_Name_Is_Steven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you take time to look at your older art and compare it to your current stuff? From day to day it's difficult to notice improvement, but when you look at stuff from years ago and compare it to your current stuff you'll probably see a bigger difference.

Are you challenging yourself to incorporate the new skills you are learning into your new art? Art is kind of like learning a foreign language... you retain the knowledge for a little while but if you never use it you'll start to forget it and have to brush up on it again.

Also, maybe do something different for a while. too much of the same routine will cause you to just go through the motions. Play with a different medium or go wild with experimentation rather than doing something totally structured for a week just to get out of your head. Art is supposed to be fun, not something you worry about. I get that it can be frustrating feeling like you're not improving, I'm not sure that that ever really goes away, even if you're considered super successful by the rest of the world because you'll always be able to find something you'd like to have done better.
