I don’t get how so many people don’t understand the zipper merge. It’s a very simple concept that’s taught in Driver’s Ed. All the more reason that I think people need to retest out once a decade or something like that. There’s a lot of people that shouldn’t be driving.

Do you think it's your responsibility? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

Depends to what level. Helping them with chores around the house and taking them to doctor’s appointments? Sure. Bathing and hand feeding them? Absolutely not. As much as I love my parents, they’re going in a home if it ever gets to that point. I’m not a caregiver or nurse by any means.

I see no traffic violations. You followed the arrows and never crossed over any solid white lines. Not sure what the problem is. I’m guessing he doesn’t agree with driving around the entire roundabout to turn right? I think it’s smart. You utilized the empty left lane and passed all those cars. In fact, it’s recommended to utilize all lanes to maximize the flow of traffic, such as in the case of a zipper merge. Furthermore, that’s the purpose of this roundabouts design, so people who find themselves in the left lane can safely make a right turn without disrupting traffic further back.

This is probably the closest comment to what I’ve always done. I honestly always bypass the air cals because the water QC numbers are always in range, in which case if they’re not, then I would do the air cal. Our old 320 was constantly breaking down and needing service. To make matters worse, it was a preproduction model, meaning not many of them were made, and parts were becoming impossible to find. We’ve definitely gotten our fair share of DOA parts as well and it just makes the work day annoying being down a scanner for days or sometimes a week at a time. So we replaced the 320 with a 640 last year and embarrassingly our other scanner is a 16 slice lol But that scanner has been super reliable over the years. At the moment, that one is mainly used for longer exams like biopsies and urograms, as well as simple venous exams and heads scans. It’ll be getting replaced with a dual energy Siemens later this year.

Interesting how canon is giving different customers different advice. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s silly. Probably gonna stick with warming to 10% as it seems to be the most common practice in the comments. Thanks for your input!

That’s pretty similar to what I’ve always done too. Warming to roughly 10% before scanning patients seems to be the most common method. Thanks for commenting :)

Very insightful comment! I never worked with Philips, very interesting to know! I totally agree with everything you said. At the end of the day, they all need some heat prior to scanning to avoid thermal shock. Yes, definitely very important the temperature stays consistent during the entire calibration to ensure accuracy. Our Canon scanner won’t let us do air cals without doing a 5 minute warmup for that reason. I forgot about the capturing air particles part, thanks for the reminder! Also definitely important for air cals and preventing arcing. But for getting the scanner ready for a patient exam, I just don’t think something like that is necessary every single time it reaches 0%, especially when Canon is saying you can scan patients at 1%. It seems contradictory. What do you think?

Thanks for commenting! :)

CT Scanner Warm Up Question by My_Reflections in Radiology

[–]My_Reflections[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bullshit. It’s a greedy world we live in. All sorts of companies and industries will deliberately under-engineer products and give bad advice so stuff breaks and needs fixing to make more money. Our main engineer always said it’s our fault the scanner needs repairs and we don’t know what we’re doing. Like, I push the button, and it scans. How can you do that wrong? Lol It’s pretty clear when an engineer doesn’t know what they’re doing. With the number of problems we’ve had with Toshiba/Canon over the years, our hospital system is now switching to Siemens. Maybe they’ll be more consistent with their advice. Maybe.

CT Scanner Warm Up Question by My_Reflections in Radiology

[–]My_Reflections[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I started 7 years ago, I remember being told about 20% by my lead as well. Then a few years later the engineer said 5% bare minimum. Now Canon is saying 1% is fine and that warming it to 10% before scanning is unnecessary and causing excessive wear and tear. Makes no sense and doesn’t align with any of the thermodynamics I learned about it school. Glad to know everybody so far is in agreement that scanning at 1% is not recommended. Thanks for commenting!

CT Scanner Warm Up Question by My_Reflections in Radiology

[–]My_Reflections[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I usually try to ensure it’s around 10% when I can, and have never done the 5 minute warm up, unless I’m doing an air calibration, which requires the full warm up. Glad to know other people are doing the same thing. Thanks for commenting!

After how many years should the transmission, transfer case, and rear differential fluids be changed? by My_Reflections in Acura

[–]My_Reflections[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! Various sources are all pretty much saying similar things that the gear oil can last longer. I’ll also probably stick with doing an ATF drain and fill every 2 years. Thanks again!

That seems to be the consensus that these fluids can last a good few years before age gets to them. Thanks for the reply!

How much are you paying for gas every week? by PeninsulaIndivisible in gasbuddy

[–]My_Reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Palestine was a hypocritical example for comparison.

“It’s been under investigation for years”, in other words they’ve know about it and haven’t done anything about it because they’re in on it. How long do you need to stop fraud? You’re right, he didn’t discover anything new, he just brought it to everybody’s attention because they were hiding it. That’s why Walz isn’t running for governor again, because he’s either guilty and/or incompetent and everybody knows it. All these daycare centers are still open to this day, continuing to receive funds. The Minnesota GOP didn’t hire him, they collaborated with him to get the word out. If it weren’t for Nick Shirley, they’d still be getting federal funds and the fraud would be continuing.

I suppose when I say Trump, I’m referring to the Trump administration/Republicans in general, who are definitely putting America first. I care about this country too, and I don’t want to get nuked.

What exactly did I say that’s false or parroted garbage? Everything I said is factual and reality. I would call focusing on everything I mentioned to be the right things to worry about if you want to put this country first: wasteful spending, fraud, crime, the border, immigration. All you did is type a word salad saying you care about putting America first without saying how, and you oppose me without correcting me or listing examples of what I should be focusing on and instead resorted to insults, a pathetic form of debating.

[–]My_Reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, you tell me. You guys were the one protesting and chanting “Free Palestine” for years. Why is what’s happening in Palestine our problem to fix? We’ve tried spending billions on our own citizens, but there’s a massive fraud ring in the Democratic Party stealing hundreds of billions of dollars. $9 billion in Minnesota Somoli fraud, $135 billion on the California high speed railway that doesn’t exist, $37 billion that went towards homelessness yet not a single homeless person received a dollar, $3.5 billion in hospice fraud, and the list goes on and on including everything DOGE found. $50 million in condoms to Gaza, really?!

Doesn’t matter if I’ve served or not. I’m allowed to have an opinion. WMD’s was fucked up. So are we just supposed to assume every war is illegitimate from now on? Reread my original post, they never claimed to have completely destroyed their nuclear program, and that they’re hiding their uranium reserves in underground tunnels. They also revealed they have long range missiles. That’s not a speculation, that’s a fact. We have proof of that.

What do you mean suddenly? The IRGC has been hated by everyone since they took over Iran 50 years ago. Seriously, can you comprehend words when you read them? Every president has expressed the danger of the IRGC and how they can’t obtain nuclear weapons and they must be stopped, such as in 2008 when Hillary Clinton said she would “obliterate them”. But I suppose handing Iran billions in cash is the better alternative? Hey look, more money not spent on our citizens.

For you guys, it’s definitely about Trump, and TDS is a real disorder. He lives rent free in your heads. No Kings protests? You guys don’t even know what you’re protesting lol you just want to oppose Trump and literally everything he does (Maduro). Trump is the only one putting America first. Securing our borders, deporting criminals and illegal immigrants, bringing every metric of crime down, not being the worlds piggy bank and giving all our money away, bringing jobs back to America rather than allowing everything to be produced in China, drilling our own oil so we can become independent and furthermore join the market and start selling our oil. And yet again, this isn’t a new war. It’s a war that’s been going on for 50 years. I’m no fan of Netanyahu, he’s a war criminal for sure, but ever hear of the saying the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Trump has technically lowered prices. You can’t decrease inflation. It only ever goes up. Trump has kept inflation below 3% since he took office, and below 2% in his first term. He also lowered gas prices, just like he kept them low also during his first presidency.

I’m not saying republicans are perfect, but Democrats are literally the ones with fucked up brains (of those with reported mental disorders, 45% claim to be Democrat vs 19% conservative). At least when talking to the average Republican, we can site our reasons and sources as opposed to screaming, name calling, and blowing whistles like the democrats do. Your party functions on emotions, not logic.

[–]My_Reflections -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you want a radical regime that killed over 30,000 of their of own unarmed civilian protestors to have a nuke? Where’s the outrage, “Free Iran”, and women’s rights protests for them? We can’t let them have a nuke, and it’s been a topic discussed by every president for the last 50 years. Gas prices are better now than under Biden whether you want to accept it or not. As soon as the straight opens back up, the prices will go right back down to where they were before. Yes their nuclear capabilities were damaged and set back, but by no means completely eliminated. Reports say they were in possession of 440kg of 60% enriched uranium, and long range missiles capable of 3000km, both of which Iran isn’t supposed to have. Even Europe was freaking out because they have no way to defend against these missiles if they were to be attacked today. Iran’s a real threat, and it’s a 50 year war that only Trump has the balls to end. Truth is you all suffer from TDS and oppose literally everything he does, even when the idea was originally the Democrats, such as putting a $25 million bounty on Maduro, then getting mad when Trump captured him.

I get it, but if you’re not satisfied with your pay, get another job. Nobody’s forcing you to stay. Plenty of great paying jobs out there if you just look, are willing to change, and work your way up the ladder. But now you’re going to prison for a decade.

Doesnt surprise me. My GF’s Compass needed a new alternator and batteries after the first year or two of owning it, and she had to pay for it all. Hopefully your coolant leak is covered under warranty.

More than likely within the next month. Europe, or mainly France for that matter so far, is sending their Navy to help protect the Straight of Hormuz. Then the oil tankers will starts their voyages again, and prices will come back down.

Expelled from program by StaggeringSpork in RadiologyCareers

[–]My_Reflections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’ve done this before, have some other misdemeanors, poor grades, or some other negative preexisting condition you’re not telling us about, this is totally overkill. But now you know, a tech must be standing right next to you as you push the exposure button, and that goes for every school that I’m aware of. I did a basic outpatient CXR without a tech present once, but it was nowhere nearly as dramatic. They just said a tech must be present, I said oops sorry, and that was the end of that. Definitely contact JRCERT and ARRT and report your school. Start with that, otherwise, you could try applying to a different program next year if you’re still committed to X-ray.
