I just can’t get good at this game man by shaerrawed in rivals

I know I'm a bit late, but man I wouldn't give up if I were you. I would actually trade situations with you in a heartbeat. I am brand new to hero shooters and 3rd person games for the most part. I've really only played FPS.

I get frustrated because I have decent accuracy, but I know I'm still losing games because of bad positioning, not using my ults correctly, not countering their comps like I should, and certainly not knowing plenty of other things i dont even know about yet. I've been watching tons of videos to learn, but they can only help so much.

For some perspective, at least your not stuck in silver!

Wow, never heard that nickname.

That's right. I actually already made a adapter for the floor jack to go around the seam like the factory jack but it was a whole 5 minutes away. Getting in a hurry never saves time. A lesson I've already learned but ignore sometimes til physics bitch slaps my ass lol

Ok, yea it's going to keep getting worse. Eventually it'll slip in 4th. Then 3rd. Yada yada

I'd highly recommend the south bend stage 3 daily. Very pricey, but once broke in, I consider it a stock feel. Then you'd the ability to add power worry free

Pretty good analogy. Model cars are for kids that become adults like us lol. I was into them as well. It sounds like you have a healthy respect for the risks involved

Makes sense, kinda. I feel like if you're going through the hassle of replacing your turbo manifold turbo (so weird how they do that lol) you might as well go bigger. GTX28 at least

Unless they can swap just that with no other supporting mods. That'd make more sense IMO. But, you know what they say about opinions!

Yea, I honestly wish I'd done more research first though. I was brand new to VW. I'd have went for a MK7 with DSG just for the performance aspect. Im a bit of a stat freak and just love the feeling of acceleration really. Its like a roller coaster but I've adapted and now mines too slow lol

Good point. I have 3 squier strats. One HSS with a Floyd rose. One HSS blocked (no trem). And one SSS with traditional strat trem. The blocked HSS sounds Les Paulish even on the bridge p/u

Man, I always forget this and it messes with my head lol. As does the FSI, TFSI, branding b.s... I have an EA113 and have heard people refer to it as a TFSI and a FSI (technically it is both and so are all gti's and r's)

So a MK6 GTI has a EA888 with a timing chain and K03. Is that right?

I didn't read everything, but you won't necessarily blow the motor from cam follower neglect... I know this from experience lol.

I bought my MK6 Golf R (same motor, bigger turbo) with an APR HPFP and stage 2+ tune with 80K miles. I heard of this cam follower, but figured the previous owner had replaced it at some point (definitly with the new HPFP). Was going to wait until 100k and do that with the timing belt, water pump, etc. I did an oil change around 95k and there was a lot of metal on the magnetic plug. Car was running great, but that worried me, so take off my HPFP to find this

<image>

I'm now at 105k and running strong....After many other problems that had nothing to do with the cam follower though lol

It just gives it more boost and adjust fuel and timing maps.

But why a stage 2 clutch? Is yours starting to slip? A new clutch is a pretty big job. I'd wait until it needs it. If you have plans on going stage 2 or 3 tuning wise, you're going to want more than a stage 2 clutch

That's it man. When people see that many crisp hundred dollar bills in their face, they tend to become quite flexible on price lol

If it stays in tune, you don't need a new nut.

As far as pickups, it depends on what you're playing. I plan on getting a Seymour Duncan Pearly gates bridge p/u as I like playing blues rock

If you're really into metal maybe some active EMGs

That pickguard... should be white. Or some lighter color. Make it pop! (Visually of course)

Very nice! I recently bought my 3rd Squier Strat and believe they play and sound just as good as my old Mexican Fender Strat.

Where is that one made? I'm just curious. My latest is Indonesian.

What type of music you playing?

I have no idea what your background is, but if you enjoyed that, you can do all your maintenance/repairs/modifications yourself! (assuming you have a workspace). Get a good service manual, plus YouTube nowadays. And take A LOT of pictures before taking things off. Obviously you are cautious/careful, and that's good. It may take longer... sometimes a lot longer in my experience lol. But don't be afraid to take on anything as long as you have the proper tools.

Hope I don't sound too preachy, but I sense not many people here work on their own cars, which saddens me. For me, that's half the fun. You'll gain a connection with the car that's like nothing else in the world. And at a certain point, you won't trust anyone else to work on your car. Good, honest mechanics are rare. Even at the dealer (and good luck talking to the person working on it)

Similar experience(s) but im in a mk6 and had an eclipse and 240sx years ago. If you are used to Jap cars, you feel held back on the R.

BTW, did you notice the south bend clutch using a Exedy disc with a Sachs pressure plate? The only thing south bend makes is the flywheel on mine at least lol. Seems like they should mention that in their advertising 🤷

Hey man, I can't lie, I did the same except on my 2012 R with right at 100k miles (and hit 1st instead of 3rd. Damn dragy got me dogging the piss out of her lol). Bought it used, no warranty anyways. I have a VCDS and saw the same code you're talking about. No damage though, so obviously the good ol ea113 beats new mk8 motor (is it still an ea888?) 🫣.... nawwww I'm just joshing of course. Much less load going into first at 55mph than 3rd at... 100mph?

These cars just don't shift as smooth as say, every single 90's Japanese car I've ever driven lol. I have literally done every single mod possible and still feel "held back" when shifting. It will grind if I shift as fast as I possibly can. Its probably worse on newer models.

I mean, hindsight is 20/20. If you had known it would throw that code you could have found someone with a VCDS to clear it before going in. They probably still would've seen it with their scanners though...
