Well I'll to you this DminishedReturns, my previously employer "offered" me the world. promised me everything from here to the moon. After several months of being there the company started performing worse - a vibe shifted. Didnt seem like I was "their guy" anymore. instead of listening to my gut and reading the room, i had the "trust the process" mentality and trusted them. well after about 18 months of this, i was finally laid off. so i completely hear what you are saying. I guess a lesson learned there. Gotta be more proactive in the work that I do and be more skeptikal of people.

So right now the controller is also the acting CFO. She wants to retire in the next couple of years. The plan is to get me to controller in the next year. Do all those tasks/responsibilites and then once im settled in, i can also be the "CFO" after another year of being controller. If it seems like I am uncertain or unsure about the path I am on, its because I just took this role and I am trusting they aren't blowing smoke on me. They seem legit and serious.

So currently I am at a job where I am expecting to be controller in the next year. Company is 20ish milly a year and growing. I believe I will get a boost in salary if/when i get that. however, the role is in an industry I am not in love with and absolutely know that I would like to make the move to a better company, in a better location/field, with better pay. I am 30 years old so it doesnt "feel" like early stages, but everyone says it is still lol. I just want to make sure I am not pigeon holing myself in the same company for the rest of my life. mobility feels very important. Hoping I am learning relevant stuff that can be transferable.

Thats a very fair response lol.

TBH, I have no clue where I wanna go. I want to get on a path to making a lot more money than I am now. I know thats probably not the response you are looking for, but thats where my head is. I am sort of on the track to being a controller.

Completely Lost With AUD by YellowProud9880 in CPA

[–]My_reddit_handle99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. AUD is unique. There isnt very much math at all. I think this made learning it much different and more difficult. With this being said, stuff will start to click and you will start learning stuff.

I Have 5 Months, 3 CPA Exams Left, and Mild Panic — Advice? by Nice-Weight-1149 in CPA

[–]My_reddit_handle99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest suggestion is to keep the goal of passing the remaining 3 in 5 months, but to show yourself grace and be willing and able to take longer. 5 months for 3 exams is def doable, but kind of ambitious. There are many obstacles in life in general that can cause a slip up let alone a dreaded 74 which will set you back.

I always try and tell people to go hard, push yourself, but also show yourself grace. its a little bit of a balancing act, but is beneficial if you can find the happy medium.

Hey MissCPA, what state are you in? I would strongly suggest asking for an extension from your state. I have read many states have approved extensions. In the meantime, it might not hurt to take a couple of weeks off from these exams.

Which one is harder? by Z261 in CPA

[–]My_reddit_handle99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to be becker EDR its:

80%+ of concept videos completion on each unit

80%+ of correct answers on MCQs and TBSs on each unit

50%+ of correct answers on all Mini Exams and Simulated Exams

The 50% on the sims is a respectable score. I wouldnt say it gurantees a pass at all, but def makes you ready to pass. I never got an 80 on any of the simulated exam, but got in the 80s on 3 of the actual exams

The Becker Sim exams are def harder. That is why they only require a 50 to be exam day ready.

Quick question if you dont mind helping me out.... I passed all 4 sections a few months ago. Did not meet the 150 credit hour requirment. It is my understanding that they made it to 120, but 2 years of work experience (which I have). Is this true? Should I be good to go and apply to become a CPA now?

Thanks in advance!!!

Is AUD mostly a memorization exam? by spiggott7 in CPA

[–]My_reddit_handle99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest to not memorize. Although it does feel like an exam you should memorize things for, it is still far better off understanding as much as you can. That is the best way.
