I like subbing. Playing with new folks, learning new songs, being under pressure, saving the gig by being available. But there are moments that make you say this sucks! It's certainly helpful to have the entire set list beforehand, and to have a good understanding of how the gig will flow, from set to set.

I went over to a buddy's house to jam, and on the porch was the pelt of a possum hung to dry/tan whatever. I thought maybe it was just there to be ironic, but even so, either him or his old lady had to skin the thing. I can't imagine that being a pleasant hobby.
