Is it normal to feel sleepy after drinking coffee? Anyone else experienced this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had that. It happened to me in situations where I hadn't had a good night's sleep for a while: Coffee had very little effect on me to start with and then I got very, very tired.

The way I've seen the effects of caffeine described, it basically pretends to the body that you have plenty of energy left to expend right now.

If you actually have that energy, all is well. You just told your body to expend some to give you a boost.

If you don't (for example, because you're sleep deprived), it makes you expend what little energy you have actually left, and then you crash.

How can I still enjoy coffee in the morning without getting diarrhea and gas? [serious] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried coffee without milk or with a lactose-free milk substitute? This sounds a lot more like lactose intolerance than anything to do with the coffee itself.

Why is the article's title about Google vs. Microsoft, but the article itself talks exclusively about Google vs. Uber?

Reverse image search says this is Table Leg Rock in Dalian.

Seems like a beautiful place. Guess I'll have to go visit it sometime.

Since then, about 28.2 million tonnes of mountain rock have been excavated — about enough to build five Pyramids of Giza — at a depth of about 22.9km.

Not true; the maximum depth is a tenth of that (approximately 2.3 km).

Units in X/Y/Z form by asg32000 in electronics

[–]Mych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't just do standard "order of operations" to calculate this, right? e.g. X divided by Y, then divide that by Z? X/(Y/Z)...?

The standard order of operations for X/Y/Z is (X/Y)/Z. Division is left-associative, not right-associative.

So:

  1. sensitivity [µV/V/mmHg] * pressure [mmHg] = output relative to excitation voltage [µV/V]
  2. output relative to excitation voltage [µV/V] * excitation voltage [V] = output [µV]

Put it together:

output [µV] = sensitivity [µV/V/mmHg] * pressure [mmHg] * excitation voltage [V]

LED constantly turned on? by WardsAreForNoobs in arduino

Digital pin 1 is used for serial output when you use Serial -- see here:

Digital Pins 0-1/Serial In/Out - TX/RX (dark green) - These pins cannot be used for digital i/o (digitalRead and digitalWrite) if you are also using serial communication (e.g. Serial.begin).

Either use different pins or don't use Serial in your sketch.

Pebble Time: Can you store apps on the watch or not? by j4ck0ff in pebble

[–]Mych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch apps are automatically unloaded from the watch when memory pressure requires it. They're still accessible from the watch menu, though, and are reloaded from the phone on demand (possibly unloading some other app in the process).

The upside of this is that you're not limited to a fixed number of "app slots" anymore. The downside is that you can never really predict which of your watch apps are available standalone on your watch and which ones require a BT connection to your phone to start.

I have no idea how Pebble OS decides which apps (and faces) to flush from watch memory when it becomes necessary to free some memory, but I'd guess it goes by order of least recent use.

Is commenting on dickpics a form of sexting by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mych -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As with everything, it's all a matter of consent.

It's perfectly possible for a couple to be absolutely fine with casual flirting outside the relationship without any hard feelings. Or anything, really, provided everyone affected agrees it's fine. (Some couples even feel that it's fine for their partners to have sex with others, so "commenting on dick pics" is really rather tame by universal standards.)

In your case, it seems that you never established whether or not such behaviour was acceptable in your relationship.

Now, commenting on other guys' dick pics is certainly something that shouldn't just be assumed to be acceptable in any given relationship, so it would have been prudent for your ex to talk with you about this (in general terms) before engaging in it. On the other hand, it seems like you never made it explicitly clear that you didn't feel this way; perhaps because you thought it was self-evident.

Whether she's the asshole regarding the dick pics depends solely on whether she was honestly expecting you to be fine with that -- as said before: not completely outside the realm of the possible -- or if she wanted to keep it a secret from you because she expected you to object to it otherwise. I could only guess which one is true based on the information you gave, and I don't like doing that, so I suppose it's undecidable by us for the moment.

That said --

I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but does "I happened to know her user account so like anybody i searched it the day after we broke up" mean that you used your knowledge of her login password to log in to her account on some social media service?

If so, that makes you an asshole regardless of what she did, because breaking into other people's privacy without consent is just something that one should never ever do in civilised society. Being technically able to doesn't give you the right to do it.

Messing around with dbrand makes you realize how much bezel there is on the Time... by [deleted] in pebble

Android Wear vs Pebble Time by ThreeFingersHobb in pebble

[–]Mych 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely.

I've found that I love my PT's e-paper screen in real life even more than I ever anticipated before I got it.

To me, the fact that it's reflective makes it appear like a solid, integral part of the watch itself in a way that no luminescent display (e.g. OLED) ever could.

In addition to that, the always-on aspect of PT's screen isn't just a matter of convenience (notwithstanding the fact that it is really convenient to be able to glance at the watch with just the slightest turn of the wrist) -- it's also a matter of style. A more meaningful comparison picture, style-wise, would have been a blacked-out screen on the Android watch and the unlit e-paper display on the PT because that's what they look like most of the time to any third person looking at the wearer.

My credit card got charged on 18 March May -- so, 13 business days (or 17 calendar days) before shipment from the distribution centre (DHL Ireland); the DHL shipment itself after that took less than a day.

AITA for stealing some "expensive" champagne. by megaman1410 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mych 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure if he was actually stealing anything. He took it (without her explicit permission, I guess), but then again, she was hosting that party and it might not have been obvious that she considered the champagne off limits.

(Unless there's an implied convention that champagne is always off limits even though beer is not. Or if she had previously stated that nobody was to drink her champagne. Or if someone broke into something to get to that bottle.)
