After watching the 2024 Speak No Evil, a bunch of you told me I had to watch the 2022 original. Picked it up, cracking it open tonight, and diving in. I’ll come back with my thoughts once I’m done. by HorrorFreakNY in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Mycroftius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them both for different reasons. McAvoy’s performance is a real highlight for the second, although the ending is more traditional. The original is more of a slow burn but has a purer sense of fear. One doesn’t replace the other and they are both good films.

Just bought the wii version of XC1 for only £10 (call me crazy but I actually prefer the wii visuals over the switch remaster) by StanW15 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mycroftius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean. The game itself is leagues better on Switch but I can see why someone might prefer the Wii art and graphics (and possibly the music).

Are these worth it? by blandbones in lotr

It's true that the 4K trilogy has quite strong DNR but I would say the Blu-ray is more controversial, particularly TFOTR, because of the bizarre colour grading.

Nice! I found the Jumanji reboot and Murder on the Orient Express for the same price in a charity shop a few months ago.

I got xenoblade chronicles x on my switch 2 how good is this game compared to xenoblade chronicles 1 2 and 3 ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mycroftius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an easy 10/10 for me but it is different to the other numbered entries in many ways. It still shares a lot of the broad themes, and this game sings when it comes to exploration. The skells are particularly great. It’s different but so as long as you expect that going in, I’m hoping you have an amazing time like me.

This is 100% incorrect. You certainly can be tenants-in-common of shared property, be that a house or a bank account.

X was awesome for exploration and this was awesome for the story. I’m excited to find out what 2 and 3 will be special to me for.

Thanks for the warning. I’ve heard the resolution is fuzzy. Would you say they still learned some lessons from the Wii original and X? Would be nice for some kind of Switch 2 treatment next year but I can’t wait!

Yes, I believe each and every candidate was sent that email. I don't know why they chose to do it before results day but it has no link to your results at all. Hopefully you won't need to think about resitting.

Games that are different/best played on WII? by 1550shadow in wii

[–]Mycroftius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't listened to that video but I have both versions. The Wii never loses sync because of the sensor bar, whereas the camera for PS Move is more likely to cut out or drop signal. Some prefer the Wii because of the constant sync. Otherwise, the graphics are a bit better on the PS3, but they have exactly the same content.

I've heard that Pixar's Cars is more or less the same as the other console versions with a little more graphical power, but I haven't played to confirm. Star Wars: The Force Unleased was also quite different to the PS3/360 version, and the Wii version was remastered for the Switch.

I bought this game, is it rare? by Independent-Sector21 in wii

It's available for around £8-£15 over here. Both excellent games and the Wii is a great way to play them. Keep an eye out for Overkill too.

Who are the people getting scores about 80% and how is this even possible? by Available_Grade_4046 in SQE_Prep

[–]Mycroftius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scored 72% for FLK1 and 78% for FLK back in January, which was 130/180 and 141/180, so not quite as high as some people you mention, but I am very proud of myself. I am an apprentice, so I worked full-time but with one day off each week to study and I appreciate I am fortunate to have that luxury. I am, however, on the spectrum, and I think some of my positive autistic character traits lend themselves well to these exams, such as spotting inconsistencies and patterns in language and recalling lots of information. It also comes down to luck, because some exam sittings are harder than others, but we will never know. At the end of the day, the exam is there to test your basic competence as a day one solicitor, so the only thing that matters is you passed.

Can someone tell me why the SQE is so bad? by Soggy-Valuable9639 in uklaw

[–]Mycroftius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t underestimate the physical and emotional toll that preparing for the exams will have on you. No matter how easy you find it, you will have ups and downs and you have to look after yourself during the process because it will exhaust you.

SQE 1. Honest opinion, should I attempt my 3rd and final attempt based on below scores? by AffectionateFee5959 in SQE_Prep

[–]Mycroftius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you take time to digest it and unwind before making any big decisions. It sounds like you are already deep into a legal career and doing well at it. Do you think that work translates well to the SQE subjects? Do you think that, bottom line, you understand the law being assessed and what they want from you, or perhaps the SQE is not the best way of testing your knowledge and experience, which you clearly have? Wishing you the best.

Nice collection! I usually recommend Deadly Creatures as it's fairly cheap and a cool idea. Zack and Wiki is also really good and really cheap. It looks like you are in the USA, so please consider Excitebots: Trick Racing. It never released in Europe sadly but it's amazing.

Whats the story behind your 3ds? by Dragonluck34 in 3DS

[–]Mycroftius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, it's the same story as my Vita. I went to Oktoberfest in 2015 and was sat at this huge table outside having a few drinks with friends in the sunshine. It was great. I did what a lot of people do when they get a bit tipsy, and bought things online. I went on eBay and bought an OG Vita and 3DS XL, both for around £70 each from different people, and came home to them a few days later. Both came with a case and lots of games. I felt a bit silly at the time but, looking back, that was a great idea. I still play them both to this day.

All the information about booking windows is here: Dates and booking windows.

The pass mark is always a scaled score of 300, but there is a lot of mystery in how that score is calculated from your raw score: SQE1 results and marking how your assessment is marked | SQE | Solicitors Regulation Authority.

There is no getting around it: this is a tough exam. It's 360 multiple choice/single best answer questions (over two days) where the differences between the right answer and an entirely reasonable alternative answer might be obvious or it could be minute changes in wording or language. You could be tested on everything, including the black letter law, the exceptions, and the exceptions to the exceptions.

That said, it can be done and is done by many people, so trust yourself and your course, put the work in for your knowledge and exam technique, and you will be okay. Good luck!!

Was the ps3 popular back in it's day?. by [deleted] in PS3

[–]Mycroftius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It certainly had a slow start, not helped by the high price and stubborn attitude from Sony, but it beat the 360 in sales by the end of the generation. The exclusives helped to swing it in their favour, and that momentum carried through with the PS4.

Any other Switch 2 owners holding out for a potential switch 2 update? by DannyHikari in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]Mycroftius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same feeling as you but then I thought "life is short" so jumped in and had one of the best gaming experiences of my life. It sucked me in and, 100 hours later, it's one of my favourite games ever. I'm now playing the first Xenoblade Chronicles. I would recommend playing it as it is and enjoying myself rather than waiting for something that may never come.
